A new rotating black hole in quintessential dark energy and its thermodynamics

The spacetime metric for a rotating black hole in a quintessential field can take various forms owing to the ambiguity of the state equation for quintessential dark energy in rotating spacetime. Herein, to provide a more physical solution, the metric is determined by imposing the laws of thermodynamics of a black hole, which is typically valid in most systems. The new metric ensures the validity of the first and second laws of thermodynamics and can degenerate to the known non-rotating metric in the quintessential field. Moreover, we set an upper limit for the black hole rotation parameter, a, in our metric according to the weak energy condition(WEC).

The direct contact heating of crude oil with steam is a promising technique for improving crude oil transportation in pipelines. Crude oil temperature is increased greatly by a small quantity of steam due to the high steam latent heat and direct contact heat transfer. A jet pump was developed for injecting steam into oil in order to get a high efficiency by transferring momentum and energy from a high-velocity jet to ambient fluid. The jet pump was designed based on the free injection principle, which has no rotation parts and no converging mixing chamber, therefore it would not be blocked by the viscous crude oil. The technical feasibility of this method has been tested in the Liaohe Oilfield of China.

Mesopelagic fish,the most important daily vertically migrating community in the oceans,are characterized by high lipid content which may obscure the interpretation of stable isotopes *** fish,which are important consumers in the food web dominated by mesopelagic fish,also have a high lipid *** we collected 127 fish samples from the South China Sea and evaluated the effect of lipid contents on△δ^(13)C of mesopelagic and demersal *** lipid-extracted mesopelagic fish,the C/N content ratio(<5.5)shows a clear correlation withΔδ^(13)C(the offset of bulk and lipid-extractedδ^(13)C values),especially in non-migratory and semi-migratory species;these values were less correlation in demersal *** on our results,we suggest that mesopelagic and demersal fish in different regions of the South China Sea should be studied separately using appropriate correction models and less fit for the traditional ***,the C/N content ratio should be used cautiously for establishing the lipid normalization model,especially for the fish in migratory mesopelagic fish and demersal *** results also reveal that mesopelagic fish across nearby regions could be analyzed *** new models described here can be applied in future studies of mesopelagic and demersal fish in the South China Sea.

Neuroprotective effect of the Chinese medicine Tiantai No.1 and its molecular mechanism in the senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8

Tiantai No.1, a Chinese medicine predominantly composed of powdered Rhizoma Gastrodiae, Radix Ginseng, and Ginkgo leaf at a ratio of 2：1：2 and dissolved in pure water, is neuroprotective in animal models of various cognitive disorders, but its molecular mechanism remains unclear. We administered Tiantai No.1 intragastrically to senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8（SAMP8） mice（a model of Alzheimer＇s disease） at doses of 50, 100 or 150 mg/kg per day for 8 weeks and evaluated their behavior in the Morris water maze and expression of Alzheimer＇s disease-related proteins in the brain. Tiantai No.1 shortened the escape latency in the water maze training trials, and increased swimming time in the target quadrant during the spatial probe test, indicating that Tiantai No.1 improved learning and memory in SAMP8 mice. Immunohistochemistry revealed that Tiantai No.1 restored the proliferation potential of Ki67-positive cells in the hippocampus. In addition, mice that had received Tiantai No.1 had fewer astrocytes, and less accumulation of amyloid-beta and phosphorylated tau. These results suggest that Tiantai No.1 is neuroprotective in the SAMP8 mouse model of Alzheimer＇s disease and acts by restoring neuronal number and proliferation potential in the hippocampus, decreasing astrocyte infiltration, and reducing the accumulation of amyloid-beta and phosphorylated tau.

Based on the characteristics of hydrodynamics and sediment transport in the bar area in the Modaomen Estuary,a flume experiment was performed to study the evolution of the longitudinal profile of the mouth *** mouth bar evolution was investigated under the impacts of floods with different return periods as well as flood-wave *** results showed that floods with different return periods had significant influences on the evolution of the river mouth *** on the inner slope of the mouth bar,the sediment was substantially active and *** inner slope and the bar crest tended to be remarkably *** erosion was intensified with the increase of the magnitude of ***,the bar crest moved seawards,while the elevation of the bar crest barely *** the flood-wave interaction,a remarkable amount of erosion on the inner and outer slopes of the mouth bar was also *** seaward displacement of the bar crest under the interaction of floods and waves was less than it was under only the impact of floods,while more deposition was found on the crest of the mouth bar in this case.

BACKGROUND Bone is a major site of metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Recently,nuclear factor kappa-beta ligand(RANKL)inhibitors have garnered attention for their ability to inhibit osteoclast formation and bone resorption,as well as their potential to modulate immune functions and thereby enhance the efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)inhibitor *** SUMMARY We present a case of a patient with NPC who developed sternal stalk metastasis and multiple bone metastases with soft tissue invasion following radical chemoradiotherapy and targeted *** to chemotherapy,the patient experienced severe bone marrow suppression and opted out of further chemotherapy ***,the patient received combination therapy,including RANKL inhibitors(denosumab)alongside PD-1,radiotherapy,and granulocyte-macrophage colonystimulating factor(PRaG)therapy(NCT05435768),and achieved 16 months of progression-free survival and more than 35 months of overall survival,without encountering any grade 2 or higher treatment-related adverse *** Denosumab combined with PRaG therapy could be a new therapeutic approach for the second-line treatment in patients with bone metastases.

AIM： To study the relationship between Survivin and PTEN expression and lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion and prognosis of gastric cancer patients in China.METHODS： Specimens of gastric cancer tissue were collected from the Affiliated Hospital of Jianghan University. All the 140 patients had complete examination data. All lymph nodes were found by the fat-clearing method. The interrupted serial 4-micron sections, routine hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical methods were used to detect the lymph node metastases. Gastric cancer tissue microarray was performed to test the expression of Survivin and PTEN （17A） in gastric cancer by immunohistochemical method. All data were processed using X^2 test, Fisher＇s exact test, Kaplan-Meyer Log-rank method and Cox multivariate analysis （SPSS 12.0 software）.RESULTS： One hundred and eighteen specimens were used in our tissue microarray （utilization rate was 82.4%）. A total of 7580 lymph nodes were found. Metastases were found in 90 specimens and 1618 lymph nodes were detected. The positive rate of Survivin and PTEN expression was 52.5% （62/118） and 76.2% （90/118）, respectively. A highly positive correlation was found between Survivin and PTEN expression （X^2=4.17, P=0.04）. Survivin expression was positively correlated with UICC N stage （X^2=8.69, P=0.03） and histological classification （X^2=4.41, P=0.04） by X^2 tests. PTEN expression was positively correlated with depth of invasion （P=0.02） and histological classification （X^2=5.47, P=0.02）. But Survivin and PTEN expressions were not related with prognosis of gastric cancer patients. A significant correlation between lymph node metastasis and prognosis was demonstrated by Cox multivariate analysis （X^2=4.85, P=0.028）.CONCLUSION： Survivin is positively correlated with PTEN expression in gastric cancer and is a molecular marker of lymph node metastasis while PTEN expression is a molecular marker of advanced gastric cancer.
