Nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube/polyaniline composite:Synthesis, characterization, and its application to the detection of dopamine

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (N-CNTs)/polyaniline (PANI) composites are developed as an electrode material for biosensors. The morphology, composition, and optical properties of the resulting products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra (UV-vis). Furthermore, N-CNTs/PANI composite was immobilized on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and applied to construct a sensor. The obtained N-CNTs/PANI-modified GCE showed one pair of redox peaks and high catalytic activity for the oxidation of dopamine (DA) in a neutral environment. Differential pulse voltam-mograms results illustrate that the fabricated DA biosensor has high anti-interference ability towards ascorbic acid (AA). In addition, the fabricated biosensor showed superior performances with two wide linear ranges from 1 to 80 μM and from 1.5 to 3.5 mM and a low detection limit of 0.01 μM.

As a potential electrochemical energy storage device,zinc–air batteries(ZABs)received considerable interest in the feld of energy conversion and storage due to its high energy density and ***,the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions limit the commercial development of ZABs,so it is of great signifcance to develop efcient,low-cost and non-noble metal bifunctional *** one-dimensional nanofbers with unique properties such as high porosity and large surface area have great advantages on possessing more active sites,shortening the difusion pathways for ions/electrons,and improving the kinetics via intercalation/de-intercalation processes,which endow them with promising application in the feld of energy storage devices,especially *** review frstly introduces the electrospinning ***,the oxygen reduction/evolution reaction triggered by electrospun nanofbers with selfsupported structures are presented,followed by the application of electrospun nanofbers for liquid and fexible solid-state ***,the remaining challenges and research directions of ZABs based on electrospun nanofbers electrocatalysts are briefy discussed.

Heterosis, or hybrid vigor, refers to the phenomenon in which hybrid progeny of two inbred varieties exhibits enhanced growth or agronomic performance. Although a century-long history of research has generated several hypotheses regarding the genetic basis of heterosis, the molecular mechanisms underlying heterosis and heterotic gene expression remain elusive. Here, we report a genome-wide gene expression analysis of two heterotic crosses in rice, taking advantage of its fully sequenced genomes. Approximately 7-9% of the genes were differentially expressed in the seedling shoots from two sets of heterotic crosses, including many transcription factor genes, and exhibited multiple modes of gene action. Comparison of the putative promoter regions of the ortholog genes between inbred parents revealed extensive sequence variation, particularly small insertions/deletions （INDELs）, many of which result in the formation/disruption of putative cis-regulatory elements. Together, these results suggest that a combinatorial interplay between expression of transcription factors and polymorphic promoter cis-regulatory elements in the hybrids is one plausible molecular mechanism underlying heterotic gene action and thus heterosis in rice.

Effect of statins type on incident prostate cancer risk： a meta-analysis and systematic review

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of statins type or even when grouping statins by hydrophilic or hydrophobic nature on prostate cancer risk. A literature search was performed without language restrictions using the databases of PubMed （1984.1-2015.3）, MEDLINE （1984.1-2015.3）, and EMBASE （1990.1-2015.3）. Two independent reviewers appraised eligible studies and extracted data. Weighted averages were reported as relative risk （RR） with 95% confidence intervals （CI）. Statistic heterogeneity scores were assessed with the standard Cochran＇s Q-test and F statistic, Publication bias was detected using the Begg＇s and Egger＇s tests. All statistical analyses were conducted by STATA version 10. Finally, fourteen studies were included in the meta-analysis. Both hydrophilic and hydrophobic statins showed no association with incidence of prostate cancer （RR = 1.00, 95% Ch 0.82-1.17; RR = 0.90, 95% CI： 0.73-1.08, respectively）. Meanwhile, the risk of prostate cancer was not reduced in simvastatin （RR = 0.89, 95% CI- 0.72-1.05）, pravastatin （RR = 1.02, 95% Ch 0.94-1.11）, atorvastatin （RR = 0.89, 95% CI： 0.76-1.02）, fluvastatin （RR = 0.99, 95% Ch 0.97-1.01）, or Iovastatin users （RR = 0.94, 95% CI： 0.79-1.08）. The funnel plot showed that there was no publication bias. The results showed that statins had a neutral effect on prostate cancer risk; hydrophilic and hydrophobic statins as well as any subtype of statins did not affect the risk of prostate cancer.

This work reports an important episode of extensional,mafic magmatism that impacted the North China Craton(NCC)during the Permo-Triassic and influenced the evolution of this *** sampled 30 representative mafic dykes cropping out in eastern NCC,within the Hebei Province,*** zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb ages,geochemical,and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic data for these mafic dykes identified them as typical dolerites formed between 211.9±1.3 and 263.9±2.6 *** mafic rocks fall into the alkaline and calc-alkaline *** are enriched in light rare earth elements,some large ion lithophile elements(e.g.,***,and Sr),K,and Pb,and depleted in Nb,Ta,and *** dykes have high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios(0.7034-0.7178),negative eNd(t)values(—2.2 to—5.9),and relatively constant initial Pb isotopic ratios,that are EMI-like:(206Pb/204Pb)i=16.39-16.74,(207pb/204pb)j=15.22-15.24,and(208Pb/204Pb)i_=36.66-36.86,*** results indicate that the Hebei Province dolerites were likely derived from magma gen erated through low-medium degree partial melting(3.0-20%)of an EMI-like garnet-lherzolite mantle *** parental magmas fractionated olivine,clinopyroxene,and Ti-bearing phases with obvious crustal contamination during rapid ascent and dyke *** the possible influence of subduction of the Yangtze Plate has been excluded,we propose a model for the origin of the investigated mafic rocks,involving the Pennian collision between the Siberian Block and the *** mafic dykes of eastern NCC within Hebei Province formed during a period of crustal thinning in response to extension after the early Permian collision.

Synthesis of multi-satellite altimetry facilitates the acquisition of long-term changes in lake level but may induce biases due to inconsistent data sources,and thus remains largely *** study investigates the integrated application of Ice,Cloud,and land Elevation Satellite(ICESat),ICESat-2,and CryoSat-2 missions to provide consecutive lake level series in 2003–*** sample comprises 48 lakes in the world with gauge-based or Hydroweb water level *** CryoSat-2 data arefirst adjusted to the ICESat-2 height reference based on the mean values of their monthly water level difference during their overlapping period(2018–2020).Then,the corrected CryoSat-2 data are used to link the ICESat and ICESat-2 *** show that in the sample lakes,the deviations between CryoSat-2 and ICESat-2 data vary and range from-0.78 m to 0.13 *** data quality of the synthesized time series is evaluated by comparing against the validation data,with an average R^(2) of *** study shows that CryoSat-2 has the potential offilling the gap between ICESat and *** three altimeters can be expected to integrate effectively for monitoring lake water level changes in the past two decades.

Synchrotron radiation(SR)sources are immensely useful tools for scientific researches and many practical ***,the state-of-the-art synchrotrons rely on conventional accelerators,where electrons are accelerated in a straight line and radiate in bending magnets or other insertion ***,these facilities are usually large and ***,we study a compact all optical synchrotron-like radiation source based on laser-plasma acceleration either in a straight or a curved plasma *** the laser pulse off-axially injected,its centroid oscillates transversely in the plasma *** results in a wiggler motion of the whole accelerating structure and the self-trapped electrons behind the laser pulse,leading to strong synchrotron-like radiations with tunable *** is further shown that a palmtop ring-shaped synchrotron is possible with current high power laser *** its potential of high flexibility and tunability,such light sources once realized would find applications in wide areas and make up the shortage of large SR facilities.

For enhancing the control effectiveness,we firstly design a fuzzy logic based sliding mode controller(FSMC)for nonlinear crane *** basis of overhead crane dynamic characteristic,the sliding mode function with regard to trolley position and payload ***,in order to eliminate the chattering problem of sliding mode control,the fuzzy logic theory is adopted to soften the control ***,aiming at the FSMC parameter setting problem,a DE algorithm based optimization scheme is proposed for enhancing the control ***,by implementing the computer simulation,the DE based FSMC can effectively tackle the overhead crane sway problem and avoid unexpected accident greatly.

Family-level diversity of extracellular proteases of sedimentary bacteria from the South China Sea

Protease-producing bacteria and their extracellular proteases are key players in degrading organic nitrogen to drive marine nitrogen cycling and yet knowledge on both of them is still very limited. This study screened protease-producing bacteria from the South China Sea sediments and analyzed the diversity of their extracellular proteases at the family level through N-terminal amino acid sequencing. Results of the 16 S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that all screened protease-producing bacteria belonged to the class Gammaproteobacteria and most of them were affiliated with different genera within the orders Alteromonadales and Vibrionales. The Nterminal amino acid sequence analysis for fourteen extracellular proteases from fourteen screened bacterial strains revealed that all these proteases belonged to the M4 family of metalloproteases or the S8 family of serine proteases. This study presents new details on taxa of marine sedimentary protease-producing bacteria and types of their extracellular proteases, which will help to comprehensively understand the process and mechanism of the microbial enzymatic degradation of marine sedimentary organic nitrogen.
