Detection and analysis of serum bile acid profile in patients with colonic polyps

BACKGROUND Analyzing the variations in serum bile acid(BA)profile can provide a certain biological basis for early warning and prevention of various diseases.There is currently no comprehensive study on the relationship between the serum BA profile and colonic polyps.AIM To study the serum BA profile detection results of patients with colonic polyps,and analyze the correlation between BA and colonic polyps.METHODS From January 1,2022,to June 1,2023,204 patients with colonic polyps who were diagnosed and treated at zhongda Hospital Southeast University were chosen as the study subjects,and 135 non-polyp people who underwent physical examination were chosen as the control group.Gathering all patients'clinical information,typical biochemical indicators,and BA profile.RESULTS Compared with the control group,the serum levels of taurocholic acid,glycocholic acid,glycochenodeoxycholic acid,and taurochenodeoxycholic acid in the colonic polyp group were significantly higher than those in the control group,while the content of deoxycholic acid(DCA)was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).When colonic polyps were analyzed as subgroups,it was shown that there was a strong correlation between changes in the BA profile and polyp diameter,location,morphology,pathological kind,etc.CONCLUSION The serum BA profile showed significant changes in patients with colonic polyps,with a significant increase in primary conjugated BA content and a decrease in secondary free bile acid DCA content.There is a certain correlation between primary free BA and pathological parameters of polyps.

Wellbore Cleaning Degree and Hydraulic Extension in Shale Oil Horizontal Wells

The efficient development and exploitation of shale oil depends on long-distance horizontal wells. As the degreeof cleaning of the wellbore plays a key role in these processes, in this study, this problem is investigated experimentallyby focusing on the dimensionless cuttings bed height. A method is proposed to calculate the horizontalwellhydraulic extension taking into account the influence of the wellbore cleaning degree on the wellborepressure distribution and assess the effect of a variety of factors such as the bottom hole pressure, the circulatingpressure drop, the drilling pump performance and the formation properties. The analysis shows that the hydraulicextension of horizontal wells decreases with an increase in the cuttings bed height, and the higher the displacementof drilling fluid, the faster the hydraulic extension declines. The annular pressure drop of the horizontalsection increases with the increase of the cuttings bed height, resulting in a higher bottom-hole pressure. Severalarguments are provided to guide the safe drilling of shale oil horizontal wells and overcome the limits of currenttechnological approaches.

Neutrophil extracellular traps mediate neuro-immunothrombosis

Neutrophil extracellular traps are primarily composed of DNA and histones and are released by neutrophils to promote inflammation and thrombosis when stimulated by various inflammato ry reactions.Neutrophil extracellular trap formation occurs through lytic and non-lytic pathways that can be further classified by formation mechanisms.Histones,von Willebrand factor,fibrin,and many other factors participate in the interplay between inflammation and thrombosis.Neuroimmunothrombosis summarizes the intricate interplay between inflammation and thrombosis during neural development and the pathogenesis of neurological diseases,providing cutting-edge insights into post-neurotrauma thrombotic events.The blood-brain barrier defends the brain and spinal cord against external assaults,and neutrophil extracellular trap involvement in blood-brain barrier disruption and immunothrombosis contributes substantially to secondary injuries in neurological diseases.Further research is needed to understand how neutrophil extracellular traps promote blood-brain barrier disruption and immunothrombosis,but recent studies have demonstrated that neutrophil extracellular traps play a crucial role in immunothrombosis,and identified modulators of neuro-immunothrombosis.However,these neurological diseases occur in blood vessels,and the mechanisms are unclear by which neutrophil extracellular traps penetrate the blood-brain barrier to participate in immunothrombosis in traumatic brain injury.This review discusses the role of neutrophil extracellular traps in neuro-immunothrombosis and explores potential therapeutic interventions to modulate neutrophil extracellular traps that may reduce immunothrombosis and improve traumatic brain injury outcomes.

Coupling and coordinated evolution characteristics of regional economy-energy-carbon emission multiple systems:A case study of main China's Basin

Comprehensive analysis of the Economy-Energy-Carbon Emission(EECE)system is beneficial for promoting sustainable social development.This study analyzes the system development of major watersheds in China from 2010 to 2019.The research fully considers the system’s internal and external inputs and outputs and proposes an evaluation index system for regional EECE coupling and coordinated development.Then,using the difference in system weight allocation to improve the coupling and coordination model,the study explores the dynamic system’s coupling and coordination.The results show that(1)The development of the system structure is relatively stable,but the overall development status is not ideal;(2)The downstream of China’s main river basins has obvious economic advantages,while the energy system fluctuates greatly.The efficiency of the carbon emission system will decrease in areas with rapid economic development.The coupling and coordination level of the EECE system is better in the Yangtze River Basin than in the Yellow River Basin;(3)From the perspective of dynamic coordinated development,the main river basins have been divided into two states since 2012,but it is relatively stable overall.Regional dynamic coordination is often at a disadvantage in regions with rapid economic and energy development;(4)The coupling coordination degree of the two river basins has significant positive spatial autocorrelation.Most provinces’significant spatial clustering characteristics of the coupling coordination degree are High-High type.Low-Low type provinces are mainly concentrated downstream.The research process has certain reference significance for the collaborative governance of complex regional systems.

A comparative study of three concentrations of intravenous nalbuphine combined with hydromorphone for post-cesarean delivery analgesia

Background:Nalbuphine has been suggested to be used for post-cesarean section(CS)intravenous analgesia.However,ideal concentration of nalbuphine for such analgesia remains unclear.The present study was conducted to explore an ideal concentration of nalbuphine for post-CS intravenous analgesia by evaluating the analgesic effects and side-effects of three different concentrations of nalbuphine combined with hydromorphone for post-CS intravenous analgesia in healthy parturients.Methods:One-hundred-and-fourteen parturients undergoing elective CS were randomly allocated to one of three groups(38 subjects per group)according to an Excel-generated random number sheet to receive hydromorphone 0.05 mg/mL+nalbuphine 0.5 mg/mL(group LN),hydromorphone 0.05 mg/mL+nalbuphine 0.7 mg/mL(group MN),and hydromorphone 0.05 mg/mL+nalbuphine 0.9 mg/mL(group HN)using patient-controlled analgesia(PCA)pump.Visual analog scale(VAS)for pain,PCA bolus demands,cumulative PCA dose,satisfaction score,Ramsay score,and side-effects such as urinary retention were recorded.Results:The number of PCA bolus demands and cumulative PCA dose during the first 48 h after CS were significantly higher in group LN(21±16 bolus,129±25 mL)than those in group MN(15±10 bolus,120±16 mL)(both P0.05).VAS scores were significantly lower in group HN than those in group MN and group LN for uterine cramping pain at rest and after breast-feeding within 12 h after CS(all P0.05).Ramsay sedation scale score in groupHNwas significantly higher than that in group MN at 8 and 12 h after CS(all P<0.01)and group LN at 4,8,12,24 h after CS(all P<0.05).Conclusions:Hydromorphone 0.05 mg/mL+nalbuphine 0.7 mg/mL f

Application of artificial synapse based on all-inorganic perovskite memristor in neuromorphic computing

Artificial synapse inspired by the biological brain has great potential in the field of neuromorphic computing and artificial intelligence.The memristor is an ideal artificial synaptic device with fast operation and good tolerance.Here,we have prepared a memristor device with Au/CsPbBr_(3)/ITO structure.The memristor device exhibits resistance switching behavior,the high and low resistance states no obvious decline after 400 switching times.The memristor device is stimulated by voltage pulses to simulate biological synaptic plasticity,such as long-term potentiation,long-term depression,pair-pulse facilitation,short-term depression,and short-term potentiation.The transformation from short-term memory to long-term memory is achieved by changing the stimulation frequency.In addition,a convolutional neural network was constructed to train/recognize MNIST handwritten data sets;a distinguished recognition accuracy of~96.7%on the digital image was obtained in 100 epochs,which is more accurate than other memristor-based neural networks.These results show that the memristor device based on CsPbBr3 has immense potential in the neuromorphic computing system.

Dissipation-Driven Superradiant Phase Transition of a Two-Dimensional Bose-Einstein Condensate in a Double Cavity

We study superradiant phase transitions in a hybrid system of a two-dimensional Bose–Einstein condensate of atoms and two cavities arranged with a tilt angle.By adjusting the loss rate of cavities,we map out the phase diagram of steady states within a mean field framework.It is found that when the loss rates of the two cavities are different,superradiant transitions may not occur at the same time in the two cavities.A first-order phase transition is observed between the states with only one cavity in superradiance and both in superradiance.In the case that both cavities are superradiant,a net photon current is observed flowing from the cavity with small decay rate to the one with large decay rate.The photon current shows a non-monotonic dependence on the loss rate difference,owing to the competition of photon number difference and cavity field phase difference.Our findings can be realized and detected in experiments.

Upgraded durian genome reveals the role of chromosome reshuffling during ancestral karyotype evolution,lignin biosynthesis regulation,and stress tolerance

Durian(Durio zibethinus)is a tropical fruit that has a unique flavor and aroma.It occupies a significant phylogenetic position within the Malvaceae family.Extant core-eudicot plants are reported to share seven ancestral karyotypes that have undergone reshuffling,resulting in an abundant genomic diversity.However,the ancestral karyotypes of the Malvaceae family,as well as the evolution trajectory leading to the28 chromosomes in durian,remain poorly understood.Here,we report the high-quality assembly of the durian genome with comprehensive comparative genomic analyses.By analyzing the collinear blocks between cacao and durian,we inferred 11 Malvaceae ancestral karyotypes.These blocks were present in a single-copy form in cacao and mainly in triplicates in durian,possibly resulting from a recent whole genome triplication(WGT)event that led to hexaploidization of the durian genome around 20(17–24)million years ago.A large proportion of the duplicated genes in durian,such as those involved in the lignin biosynthesis module for phenylpropane biosynthesis,are derived directly from whole genome duplication,which makes it an important force in reshaping its genomic architecture.Transcriptome studies have revealed that genes involved in feruloyl-Co A formations were highly preferentially expressed in fruit peels,indicating that the thorns produced on durian fruit may comprise guaiacyl and syringyl lignins.Among all the analyzed transcription factors(TFs),members of the heat shock factor family(HSF)were the most significantly upregulated under heat stress.All subfamilies of genes encoding heat shock proteins(HSPs)in the durian genome appear to have undergone expansion.The potential interactions between HSF Dzi05.397 and HSPs were examined and experimentally verified.Our study provides a high-quality durian genome and reveals the reshuffling mechanism of ancestral Malvaceae chromosomes to produce the durian genome.We also provide insights into the mechanism underlying lignin biosynthesis and heat stress tolerance.
