Analysis on contaminants transport process through clay-solidified grouting curtain in MSW landfills

Clay-solidified grouting curtains are commonly used for remediation by containment or pollution prevention, in addition to their use as a barrier to water flow in municipal solid waste(MSW) landfills. A hydrological *** water flow and a hydrodynamic model of contaminant are presented to simulate the migration of leachate through clay-solidified grouting curtain in MSW landfills, with particular attention paid to the role of diffusive and adsorptive fluxes in contaminant transport. The models were applied to simulate the sensitivity of the curtain's behavior to changes in parameters, such as thickness, depth, permeability coefficient, diffusion coefficient,resistance coefficient and concentration, and also to demonstrate the contaminant distribution on the evolution of travel time and offset distance of clay-solidified grouting curtain in landfills. It is found that a part of leachate components stays or is retarded in clay-solidified grouting curtain by precipitate or exchange, the retention rate is closely related to composition of clay-solidified grouting curtain, more than 800%, and the maximum occurs at the cementclay ratio of 2: 4 under experimental conditions. Contamination distribution is variable on travel time and offset distance, the highest concentration takes place where the contamination intensity is nearest to the pollution resource or takes place at early middle period of transport, and the pollutant attenuates gradually. The results indicate that claysolidified grouting curtain with a proper thickness, a low permeability coefficient and a high resistance coefficient might serve as a sufficiently effective vertical barrier against leachate seepage and contamination migration in MSWlandfills.

Hot-extrusion and cold-rolling were conducted on Mg-Ce binary alloys to explore the effect of cerium(Ce)on microstructure,texture and mechanical properties of Mg *** addition of Ce results in significant grain refinement both in as-cast and hot-extruded *** basal texture is also weakened after extrusion and an inclined basal texture is formed with Ce *** strength and elongation of the Mg-Ce alloys are improved simultaneously due to such grain refinement and texture weakening *** cold-rolling,plenty of twins are found in the pure Mg and AZ31 plates while grains in the Mg-0.3Ce plate deform more uniformly without lamellar twin ***,Mg-0.3Ce alloys own strong and continuous strain hardening because Ce atoms and Mg-Ce precipitated phases serve as obstacles for dislocation slip.

Polymer microspheres(PMs),such as polyacrylamide,have been widely applied for enhanced oil recovery(EOR),yet with environmental ***,we report a microfluid displacement technology containing a bio-based eco-friendly material,i.e.,calcium alginate(CaAlg)microspheres for *** dominant mechanisms responsible for EOR over Ca Alg fluid have been verified,including the microscopic oil displacement efficacy augmented by regulating capillary force(determined by the joint action of interfacial tension and wettability between different phases)and macroscopic sweep volume increment through profile control and mobility ratio *** comprehensive effectiveness can be further impacted when the CaAlg microsphere is embellished ulteriorly by using appropriate amount of sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS).The core flooding and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)tests demonstrate that CaAlg-SDS microsphere can balance the interphase property regulation(wettability alteration and IFT reduction)and rheology properties,enabling simultaneous profile control and oil *** introduction of SDS will have a negative impact on rheological properties,which is not favored for *** results show that the involvement of 4-m M SDS will provide the best behavior,with an EOR rate of 34.38%.This cost-effective and environmentally-friendly bio-microspherebased microfluidic displacement technology is expected to achieve“green”oil recovery in future oilfield exploitation.

Prostate cancer(PCa)is the second most common malignancy among men *** Fu-Zheng-Yi-Liu(FZYL)Formula has been widely utilized in the treatment of *** study investigates whether the FZYL Formula can inhibit PCa by tar-geting the TAMs/CCL5 *** conducted in vitro co-cultures and in vivo co-injections of PCa cells and TAMs to mimic their *** showed that the FZYL Formula significantly reduced the proliferation,colony formation,subpopulations of PCSCs,and sphere-formation efficacy of PCa cells,even in the presence of TAM ***,the Formula markedly decreased the migration,invasion,and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of PCa cells induced by *** FZYL Formula also reversed M2 phenotype polarization in TAMs and dose-dependently reduced their CCL5 expression and secretion,with minimal cytotoxicity *** studies confirmed that the TAMs/CCL5 axis is a critical target of the FZYL Formula,as the addition of exogen-ous CCL5 partially reversed the formula’s inhibitory effects on PCSCs self-renewal in the co-culture ***,the Formula also significantly inhibited the growth of PCa xenografts,bone metastasis,and PCSCs activity in vivo by targeting the TAMs/CCL5 ***,this study not only elucidates the immunomodulatory mechanism of the FZYL Formula in PCa therapy but also highlights the TAMs/CCL5 axis as a promising therapeutic target.

Supramolecular polymer-based gel fracturing fluid with a double network applied in ultra-deep hydraulic fracturing

A gel based on polyacrylamide,exhibiting delayed crosslinking characteristics,emerges as the preferred solution for mitigating degradation under conditions of high temperature and extended shear in ultralong *** viscosity/viscoelasticity of the fracturing fluid was required to maintain excellent proppant suspension properties before *** into account both the cost and the potential damage to reservoirs,polymers with lower concentrations and molecular weights are generally *** this work,the supramolecular action was integrated into the polymer,resulting in significant increases in the viscosity and viscoelasticity of the synthesized supramolecular polymer *** double network gel,which is formed by the combination of the supramolecular polymer system and a small quantity of Zr-crosslinker,effectively resists temperature while minimizing permeability damage to the *** results indicate that the supramolecular polymer system with a molecular weight of(268—380)×10^(4)g/mol can achieve the same viscosity and viscoelasticity at 0.4 wt%due to the supramolecular interaction between polymers,compared to the 0.6 wt%traditional polymer(hydrolyzed polyacrylamide,molecular weight of 1078×10^(4)g/mol).The supramolecular polymer system possessed excellent proppant suspension properties with a 0.55 cm/min sedimentation rate at 0.4 wt%,whereas the0.6 wt%traditional polymer had a rate of 0.57 cm/*** comparison to the traditional gel with a Zrcrosslinker concentration of 0.6 wt%and an elastic modulus of 7.77 Pa,the double network gel with a higher elastic modulus(9.00 Pa)could be formed only at 0.1 wt%Zr-crosslinker,which greatly reduced the amount of residue of the fluid after *** viscosity of the double network gel was66 m Pa s after 2 h shearing,whereas the traditional gel only reached 27 m Pa s.

Experimental Investigation on Solution Regeneration Performance and Coefficients in Full-Open System for Heat and Water Recovery of Flue Gas

The recovery of heat and water from low-grade flue gas is of considerable importance for energy conservation and environmental *** the full-open absorption heat pump shows promise as a means of achieving heat and water recovery,the lack of research on heat and mass transfer performance of open-type solution evaporation regeneration represents a significant impediment to its design and *** paper experimentally investigates the regeneration performance of an open-type spaying tower equipped with ceramic structured *** different regeneration modes are proposed,namely ambient air receiver mode and flue gas receiver mode,to utilize air or low-grade flue gas as a driving *** impact of different input parameters on the regeneration characteristics,including heat transfer capacity,water removal rate,thermal efficiency,and humidity effectiveness,are *** findings indicate that the enhancement of regeneration can be achieved through the increase of solution flow rate,solution temperature,and flue gas flow rate in both regeneration ***,high solution concentration and flue gas humidity ratio can weaken water removal rates and reduce thermal *** the regeneration of CaCl_(2)-H_(2)O with a concentration of55%,flue gas around 200℃with a humidity ratio below 44 g/kg can successfully drive the solution regeneration *** the solution concentration or flue gas humidity ratio continues to rise,additional energy is necessary for ***,the coupled heat and mass transfer coefficients are fitted,which can contribute to the design and optimization of the open-type regenerator.

Insight into structural degradation of NCMs under extreme fast charging process

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with extreme fast charging(XFC)capability are considered an effective way to alleviate range anxiety for electric vehicle(EV)*** to the high ionic and electronic conductivity of LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_zO_(2)(x+y+z=1,NCM)cathodes,the inevitable Li plating of graphite in NCM|graphite cell is usually identified as a key bottleneck for XFC ***,the capacity decay mechanism of cathode materials under XFC has not been fully *** this work,three typical NCM cathode materials with different Ni fractions were chosen and their electrochemical performances under XFC associated with structural evolution were investigated.A faster capacity decay of NCMs under XFC conditions is observed,especially for Ni-rich ***-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD)reveals that the multiple caxis parameters appear at the high-voltage regions in Nirich NCMs,which is probably triggered by the larger obstruction of Li(de)***,NCMs with moderate Ni fraction also present a similar trend under XFC *** phenomenon is more detrimental to the structural and morphological stability,resulting in a faster capacity decay than that under low current *** work provides new insight into the degradation mechanism of NCMs under XFC conditions,which can promote the development of NCM cathode materials with XFC capability.

Evaluating two stages of silicone-containing arylene resin oxidation via experiment and molecular simulation

Silicon-containing aryl acetylene resin(PSA)is a new type of high-temperature resistant resin with excellent oxidation resistance,whereas antioxidant reaction mechanism of PSA resin under ultra-high temperatures still remains ***,the oxidation behavior and mechanisms of PSA resin are systematically investigated combining kinetic analysis and Reax FF molecular dynamics(MD)*** analysis indicates that the oxidation process of PSA resin undergoes two main steps:oxidative mass gain and oxidative *** distributed activation energy model(DAEM)is employed for describing oxidation processes and the best-fit one is obtained using genetic algorithms and differential *** model demonstrates that the oxidative weight gain stage is dominated by two virtual reactants and the oxidative degradation stage consists of three virtual ***,the observation of MD reaction pathways indicates that oxygen oxidation of unsaturated structures occurs in the initial stage,which results in the formation of PSA resin ***,cracked pieces react with O_(2)to generate CO and other chemicals in the second *** resin matrix's great antioxidation resilience is illustrated by the formation of SiO_(2).The analysis based on MD simulations exhibits an efficient computational proof with the experiments and DAEM *** on the results,a two-stage reaction mechanism is proposed,which provides important theoretical support for the subsequent study of the oxidation behavior of silica-based resins.
