The treatment of ***2O （RE = Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu; x = 3-4） with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate （NaEtEdtc-3H2O） and 1,10-phenanthroline hydrate （o-phen.H2O） in absolute ethanol yielded five ternary solid complexes RE（EtEdtC）a（phen）. IR spectra of the complexes showed that RE^3＋ coordinated to two sulfur atoms in NaEt2dtc and two nitrogen atoms in o-phen. The constant-volume energies of combustion of the complexes have been determined by a precise rotating-bomb calorimeter at 298.15 K. The standard enthalpies of combustion and standard enthalpies of formation were calculated.

Five transition metal coordination compounds, [Mn2（8-qoac）E（bdc）（H2O）4]（1）（8-qoacH=quinoline-8-oxy- acetate acid, H2bdc=benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid）, [Zn4（8-qoac）4（bdc）2]n（2）, {[CdE（8-qoac）E（Hip）2（H2O）2]·（H2O）4}n（3）（H2ip=benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid）, [Pb3（8-qoac）2（bdc）1.5（HEO）Cl]n（4） and [Zn2（8-qoac）（8-ql）（bdc）]n （5）（8-Hql=8-hydroxyquinoline）, were synthesized by hydrothermal syntheses of metal salts with benzenedicarboxy- lic acid and 8-qoacH. Compound 1 possesses a discrete dimer bridged by bdc2- ligand. Compound 2 presents a 2D layer network constructed from bdc2- linkers and 1D infinite ribbons, in which Zn（II） centers are bridged by 8-qoac- with a tetradentate binding mode. Compound 3 displays a 1D zigzag chain, with adjacent chains further connected via extensive O-H…O hydrogen bonds to generate a 3D supramolecular structure. Compound 4 shows a 3D framework containing trinuclear lead secondary building units and bdc2- linkers, in which a new coordination mode of 8-qoac- ligand is observed. In compound 5, Zn（II） ions are simultaneously bridged by 8-qoac-, 8-ql- and bdc2- ligands to form tetranuclear zinc units, which are further interlinked by bdc2- linkers to yield a 2D wave-like layer. Based on intrali- gand（IL）（π-π＊） fluorescent emission, compounds 1--5 possess strong purple fluorescent emissions. In addition, the thermal stabilities of compounds 1--5 were studied.

The self-assembly reactions between mixed-ligand and tetrahydrate dysprosium acetate in the presence of mixed organic solvents lead to two structural similar dinuclear dysprosium complexes with composition formulas of Dy_(2)(L_1)_(2)(L_(2))_(2)(CH_(3)OH)_(2)·CH_(2)Cl_(2)·CH_(3)OH(1) and Dy_(2)(L_1)_(2)(L_(3))_(2)(CH_(3)OH)_(2)·CH_(3)CN(2),where L_1,L_(2) and L_(3) represent the deprotonated form of 4-tert-butyl-2-(7-methoxybenzo[d]oxazol-2-yl)phenol,(E)-1-(((3,5-di-tert-butyI-2-hydroxyphenyI)imino)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol and(E)-2,4-di-tertbutyl-6-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)*** tiny difference of the core structure of 1 and 2 is derived from the steric hindrance of Schiff base ligands L_(2) and L_(3).Dynamic magnetic measurements reveal that 1 and 2 show frequency-dependent out-of-phase alternating-current susceptibility signal peaks at different temperatures under zero dc field,diagnostic of single-molecule magnet *** experimental derived energy barrier to magnetization reversal for 1 and 2 is 108(1),47(2) and 33(3) *** initio CASSCF calculations performed on 1 and 2 suggest that the origin of the difference in magnetic properties originates from the variation in the single-ion anisotropy that arises due to minor structural ***,the equation to calculate the effective energy barrier for Dy_(2) proposed earlier is found to yield an excellent agreement with the experimental *** state fluorescence measurements performed on 1 and 2 demonstrate that both exhibit two ligands centered components of fluorescent emissive,in addition,with different emitting colors and chromaticity *** discrepancy of fluorescence and single molecule magnet behavior showed by 1 and 2 can be attributed to the steric hindrance effect of Schiff base ligands.

Three new cobalt（II） coordination compounds, [Co（3,3＇-Hbpt）2（H2pm）（H20）2]＇2H20 （1）, [Co（4,4＇-Hbpt）（pm）0.5（H20）]＇3H20 （2） and [Co（3,4＇-Hbpt）（pm）0.5（H20）3]＇2H20 （3）（3,3＇-Hbpt = 3,5-bis（3-pyridyl）-lH-1,2,4-triazole; 4,4＇-bpt = 3,5-bis（4-pyridyl）- 1H-1,2,4-triazole, 3,4＇-Hbpt = 3-（3-pyridyl）-5-（4＇-pyridyl）-lH-1,2,4-triazole and Hapm = pyromellitic acid） have been synthe- sized by hydrothermal reactions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that compound 1 has a one-dimensional （1D） chain network, 2 exhibits a four-connected three-dimensional （3D） structure with 1D open channels encapsulated by water molecules, while 3 displays a regular two-dimensional （2D） architecture connected through 1D metal helical chains. In addition, the effi- cacy of compounds 1-3 as additives to promote the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate （AP） is explored by dif- ferential scanning calorimetry （DSC）.

Three new heterometallic coordination compounds, namely, [KCu（I3）（L）2（H2O）2]n （1）, [KCu（I3）（L）2（H20）]n （2） and [CIIK4（I3）z（L＇）4]n （3）, were prepared and characterized （HL=5-methylpyrazine-2-carboxylic acid, HL＇=p-tolylacetic acid）. Structural studies revealed that 1 and 2 exhibit 3D frameworks with rectangular channels occupied by triiodide ions. Both compounds can be symbolized as a 5-connected net with pcu topology. In compound 3, a one-dimensional polyhedral chain is connected by hexanuclear mask like clusters [Cu2K408]. These chains are further linked each other via rare （1,1,3,3）-triiodide ion-bridging units to generate a 3D （4,5,6）-connected net with the point symbol of { 12}2{4·12^2}4{4^6}{4^8·62}4{49.66}4. It is noteworthy that water-induced reversible dissolution/reorganization processes occur between 1/2 and [Cu（L）2（HzO）],＇3nH20. The thermal and photoluminescence properties of compounds 1, 2, and 3 were investigated as well.

A 3D mixed-valence Co（Ⅲ）-Co（Ⅱ） compound [Co9（bta）10（Hbta）2（H2O）10]n·[22（H2O）]n （1）（H2bta=N,N-bis（1H-tetrazole-5- yl）-amine） was hydrothermally synthesized by reaction of Co（NO3）2·6H2O with H2bta·H2O. Compound 1 consists of three kinds of distorted-octahedral [CoⅡ（N4O2）] paramagnetic nodes which are separated by [CoⅢ（bta）2（Hbta）]2-/[CoⅢ（bta）3]3- dia- magnetic linkers to generate a 3D porous metal-organic framework （MOF） with alternative …Co（Ⅲ）…Co（II）… array and channels incorporating water molecules. Under an applied magnetic field of 4000 Oe, compound 1 exhibits slow relaxation of magnetization at low temperatures, giving AE/kB=30.O0 K and ι0=2.0×10^-8 s.

The enthalpy change of formation of the reaction of hydrous dysprosium chloride with ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC) and 1,10-phenanthroline (o-phen·H2O) in absolute ethanol at 298.15 K has been determined as (-16.12±0.05) kJ·mol-1 by a microcalor-meter. Thermodynamic parameters (the activation enthalpy, the activation entropy and the activation free energy), rate constant and kinetics parameters (the apparent activation energy, the pre-exponential constant and the reaction order) of the reaction have also been calculated. The enthalpy change of the solid-phase reaction at 298.15 K has been obtained as (53.59±0.29) kJ·mol-1 by a thermochemistry cycle. The values of the enthalpy change of formation both in liquid-phase and solid-phase reaction indicated that the complex could only be synthesized in liquid-phase reaction.

Combustion energies and standard molar enthalpies of formation for the complexes of the first-row transitional metal chlorides with L-α-histidine

Seven novel solid complexes of the first-row transitional metal with L-a -histidine were synthesized, and their compositions were determined. The constant-volume combustion energies of the complexes were measured by a precision rotation bomb calorimeter. The standard molar enthalpies of combustion and the standard molar enthalpies of formation were calculated. The results indicated that the plots of the standard enthalpies of formation against the atomic number of the metal show a regularity of zigzag.
