Role of Sn in Ni-Sn/CeO2 Catalysts for Ethanol Steam Reforming

Reducible oxides （e.g.,CeO2 and ZrO2） supported 3d transition metals （e.g.,Ni,Co,Pt） exhibit remarkable catalytic activity in reactions that involve water activation,such as steam reforming and water gas *** paper describes the influence of Sn addition on the performance of Ni/CeO2 catalysts in ethanol steam reforming.0.25 wt% Sn addition improved the stability of Ni/CeO2 by forming Ni-Sn bimetallic nanoparticles with Sn enriched surfaces to suppress the carbon ***0.25Sn/CeO2 kept over 90% ethanol conversion in a 20 h stability test at 600 ℃ with over 60% hydrogen selectivity under a gas hourly space velocity of 57000 mL/（g·h）.However,the presence of Sn decreased the overall oxygen storage capacity and oxygen mobility of NiSn/CeO2,which hampered water activation process and coke elimination occurring at the interface between Ni and ***,ethanol decomposition was also suppressed due to the coverage of Sn atoms on Ni surfaces.

The Ni(II)-catalyzed intermolecular arylation of unactivated alkenes with arylboronic acids has been disclosed for the first *** alkene arylation exhibits excellent E/Z selectivity and regioselectivity(γ-selectivity)to provide the correspondingγ-aryl substitutedβ,γ-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivatives with E-selectivity.A Heck-type mechanism is proposed,wherein the 8-aminoquinoline auxiliary group takes the crucial role of the alkenes in the insertion/β-H elimination steps.

The chemical looping steam reforming(CLSR)of bioethanol is an energy-efficient and carbon-neutral approach of hydrogen *** paper describes the use of a Ni_(x)Mg_(1-x)O solid solution as the oxy-gen carrier(OC)in the CLSR of *** to the regulation effect of Mg^(2+)in Ni_(x)Mg_(1-x)O,a three-stage reaction mechanism of the CLSR process is *** surface oxygen of Ni_(x)Mg_(1-x)O initially causes complete oxidation of the ***,H_(2)O and bulk oxygen confined by Mg^(2+)react with etha-nol to form CH_(3)COO^(*)followed by H_(2) over partially reduced Ni_(x)Mg_(1-x)*** the bulk oxygen is con-sumed,the ethanol steam reforming process is promoted by the metallic nickel in the stage Ⅲ.As a result,Ni_(0.4)Mg_(0.6)O exhibits a high H_(2) selectivity(4.72 mol H_(2) per mole ethanol)with a low steam-to-carbon molar ratio of 1,and remains stable over 30 CLSR *** design of this solid-solution OC pro-vides a versatile strategy for manipulating the chemical looping process.

This study was carried out to identify gene expression patterns in different wool densities of rex rabbit. The mid-dorsal skin samples from 8 rex rabbits were studied. They were divided into two groups according to different wool densities. Total RNA was isolated and labeled by reverse transcription reaction with Cy5-dCTP and Cy3-dCTP for cDNA probe. The cDNA probe was hybridized with cDNA microarrays containing 14 601 rabbit’s genes. The differently expressed genes were analysed with the Gene Ontology （GO） classification and the pathway analysis. Hierarchical clustering was performed to clarify genes in association with different wool densities. The 2 657 differentially expressed genes were identified. Among them, 1 103 genes were functionally known genes, 687 genes were up-regulated and 419 were down-regulated. GO analysis indicated that these altered genes were associated with metabolism, signal transduction, cell cycle, cell adhesion, cell proliferation, cell division, apoptosis, and other processes. KEGG analysis showed that 95 signal pathways associated with up-regulated genes and 87 signal pathways associated with down-regulated genes had changed significantly （P0.05）. Some important differentially expressed genes in different wool densities of rex rabbit were identified, such as MMP2, TGF-β1, TGF-β2, IGF-1, ITGB1, RPS6KB1, BMP2, ActRIIB, CDK2, and CCNA2. Hierarchical clustering analysis separated the differentially expressed genes into 5 main characteristic groups. Data from cDNA microarray experiments clearly distinguished between group A and group B. Some important genes were identified, which might be useful in further study on wool density markers of rex rabbit.

The oxygen distribution and evolution within the oxygen carrier exert significant influence on chemical looping *** paper describes the influence of oxygen bulk diffusion within FeVO4 oxygen carrier pellets on the chemical looping oxidative propane dehydrogenation(CL-ODH).During CL-ODH,the oxygen concentration at the pellet surface initially decreased and then maintained stable before the final *** the stage with the stable surface oxygen concentration,the reaction showed a stable C3H6 formation rate and high C3H6 ***,based on Fick’s second law,the oxygen distribution and evolution in the oxygen carrier at this stage were further *** was found that main reactions of selective oxidation and over-oxidation were controlled by the oxygen bulk diffusion.C3H8 conversion rate kept decreasing during this stage due to the decrease of the oxygen flux caused by the decline of oxygen gradient within the oxygen carrier,while C3H6 selectivity increased due to the decrease of *** addition,reaction rates could increase with the propane partial pressure due to the increase of the oxygen gradient within the oxygen carrier until the bulk transfer reached its limit at higher propane partial *** study provides fundamental insights for the diffusion-controlled chemical looping reactions.

Nowadays, multi-functional materials are desperately required for adapting the complex environment, which urges us to take more factors into consideration. Here, we proposed a broadband microwave absorber with multi-functionality such as optically transparent, thermal insulating and soundproof properties. Using indium tin oxide(ITO) based metamaterial, the device can achieve above 90% microwave absorption from 5.6 GHz to 23 GHz(cover X and Ku band). Moreover, with designed vacuum structure inside, the device is thermal insulating and soundproof. These multi-functional advantages give the absorber more flexibility in electromagnetic shielding and stealth application, which can be potentially applied in windows related industry.

A simple design of hybrid wavelength division multiplexed/time division multiplexed passive optical network （WDM/ TDM-PON） is demonstrated for the high capacity next generation access （NGA） network, having advantages of both WDM and TDM based PON techniques. A 10 Gbit/s differential quadrature phase shift keying （DQPSK） data signal is used at optical line terminal （OLT） for downstream, whereas a 2.5 Gbit/s inverse return-to-zero （IRZ） data signal with high extinction ratio is used for upstream signal by intensity re-modulation of downstream signal, no additional laser is used at optical network unit （ONU）. Simulation results verify that aggregated 100 Gbit/s downstream transmissions of 10 DQPSK channels and aggregated 25 Gbit/s upstream transmission of 10 IRZ channels, using spectrally-efficient 50 GHz channel spacing, can be successfully achieved over a distance of 20 km with less than 1 dB transmission power penalties and improved receiver sensitivity.
