Several pulsar timing array(PTA)collaborations,including NANOGrav,EPTA,PPTA,and CPTA,have announced the evidence for a stochastic signal consistent with a stochastic gravitational wave background(SGWB).Supermassive black hole binaries(SMBHBs)are supposed to be the most promising gravitational-wave(GW)sources for this signal.In this paper,we use the NANOGrav 15-year data set to constrain the parameter space in an astro-informed formation model for SMBHBs.Our results prefer a large turn-over eccentricity of the SMBHB orbit when GWs begin to dominate the SMBHB evolution.Furthermore,the SGWB spectrum is extrapolated to the space-borne GW detector frequency band by including inspiral-merge-cutoff phases of SMBHBs,indicating that the SGWB from SMBHBs should be detected by LISA,Taiji and Tian Qin in the near future.

Dear editor,With the rapid development of robotics, flexible robotic manipulators have played an important role in industrial production and manufacture because of their lightweight, higher operation speed and better energy efficiency [1]. However, flexible materials will result in vibration. Besides, in practical applications, external disturbances and constraints caused by environmental factors or technique requirements diffusely exist, which will affect the operation accuracy of the manipulators. Thus, we focus on the angle tracking and vibration problem of the flexible robotic manipulator with external disturbances and output constraints.

BACKGROUND Effusive-constrictive pericarditis(ECP)is an uncommon pericardial syndrome.Careful echocardiographic examination may provide helpful information not only for diagnosing but also for managing ECP.ECP has various etiologies;however,Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P.aeruginosa)infection has not been reported as a cause to date.Herein,we present a rare case of ECP caused by P.aeruginosa infection,which was followed up using echocardiography.CASE SUMMARY A 30-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a 2-mo history of cough,dyspnea,bloating,palpitations,and lower-extremity edema.The patient was initially diagnosed with pericardial effusion by transthoracic echocardiography.Drainage of pericardial effusion was performed to relieve the clinical symptoms.A follow-up echocardiogram showed that the pericardial effusion had decreased;however,the right atrial pressure continued to increase,and signs of constrictive pericarditis were observed upon a more comprehensive inspection.Therefore,the diagnosis of ECP was established based on the comprehensive pre-and postpericardiocentesis echocardiographic findings.An urgent pericardectomy was subsequently performed,which significantly relieved the patient's clinical symptoms,and the signs of pericardial constriction on echocardiography improved.Pericardial effusion and pericardial culture showed growth of P.aeruginosa.CONCLUSION ECP induced by P.aeruginosa infection remains a rare disease.The presence of echocardiographic features of constrictive pericarditis after pericardiocentesis therapy is highly indicative of ECP.

SrCe_(0.9)Yb_(0.1)O_(3-α)ceramic samples were obtained by dry pressing and sintering of powders prepared by solid reaction method.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and the field-emission scanning microscope(SEM)were used for phase and microstructure analysis of samples.XRD results showed that the ceramics sintered in the air were pure perovskite structures.SEM results revealed that the average grain size of ceramics increased from 2 to 10μm when the sinteringtemperature increased from 1400 to 1500℃.

There is considerable evidence supporting the role of pulmonary rehabilitation as a safe and cost-effective component of integrated management in patients with chronic respiratory illness.[1]Despite extensive global guidelines endorsing pulmonary rehabilitation referral,a recent study in the United States revealed that only approximately 1.2%of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)have access to pulmonary rehabilitation services.[2]The reason cited by the authors for the low participation rate in pulmonary rehabilitation was an inadequate referral system.In China,pulmonary rehabilitation is in its infancy,and referral to a structured pulmonary rehabilitation program is less common compared with the developed countries.

Sudden cardiac death(SCD)is the leading cause of death from out-of-hospital cardiovascular disease worldwide,with an annual incidence of 1.4 per 100,000 in females and 6.8 per 100,000 in males.1 Most cases of SCD in older patients(>45 years)are caused by atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.SCD in younger patients(<45 years)is caused by inherited cardiovascular diseases.

Non-orthogonality in non-Hermitian quantum systems gives rise to tremendous exotic quantum phenomena,which can be fundamentally traced back to non-unitarity.In this paper,we introduce an interesting quantity(denoted asη)as a new variant of the Petermann factor to directly and efficiently measure non-unitarity and the associated non-Hermitian physics.By tuning the model parameters of underlying non-Hermitian systems,we find that the discontinuity of bothηand its first-order derivative(denoted as■η)pronouncedly captures rich physics that is fundamentally caused by non-unitarity.More concretely,in the 1D non-Hermitian topological systems,two mutually orthogonal edge states that are respectively localized on two boundaries become non-orthogonal in the vicinity of discontinuity ofηas a function of the model parameter,which is dubbed"edge state transition".Through theoretical analysis,we identify that the appearance of edge state transition indicates the existence of exceptional points(EPs)in topological edge states.Regarding the discontinuity of■η,we investigate a two-level non-Hermitian model and establish a connection between the points of discontinuity of■ηand EPs of bulk states.By studying this connection in more general lattice models,we find that some models have discontinuity of■η,implying the existence of EPs in bulk states.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common type of primary liver malignancy.Contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)uses contrast microbubbles during ultrasound,allowing the detection and characterization of malignant focal liver lesions with much higher diagnostic accuracy than conventional ultrasound;however,there are few reports focusing on the pattern of enhancement of CEUS for the diagnosis of HCC smaller than 2 cm.AIM To investigate the clinical value of CEUS in the early detection of small HCC with high risk factors.METHODS A total of 395 patients with 632 nodules at high risk of HCC,who underwent regular follow-up at Xuhui Dahua Hospital from January 2007 to December 2021,were retrospectively examined.Conventional ultrasonography combined with CEUS was adopted to analyze the echo,size,location,and enhancement characteristics of benign and malignant nodules,as well as the enhancement methods for HCC with different diameters.RESULTS The follow-up rate and duration were 92.15%(364/395)and 51.28±45.09 mo,respectively.Conventional ultrasonography combined with CEUS revealed 65(11.80%)nodules with a follow-up diagnosis of HCC,19(3.45%)dysplastic nodules,and 467(84.75%)benign cirrhotic hyperplastic nodules.Among 65 cases of confirmed HCC,40(61.54%)were transformed from hypoechoic nodules,9(13.85%)from hyperechoic nodules,and the remaining 16(24.62%)from isoechoic nodules.Significant differences in CEUS characteristics were found among cirrhotic nodules,dysplastic nodules,and HCC nodules at each phase.Significant differences in the enhancement mode were observed between nodules≤1 cm and those 1–2 cm.The smaller the HCC nodule,the later the contrast agent began to flush and the longer the duration of contrast enhancement.CONCLUSION Conventional ultrasonography combined with CEUS could identify small HCC and help monitor patients with an early diagnosis of HCC.Significant differences in the enhancement mode are noted between nodules≤1 cm and those 1–2 cm.
