The difference of the ionomer–catalyst interfaces for poly(aryl piperidinium)hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cells and proton exchange membrane fuel cells

The microstructures of the ionomer–catalyst interfaces in the catalyst layers are important for the fuel cell performance because they determine the distribution of the active triple-phase ***,we investigate the ionomer–catalyst interactions in hydroxide exchange membrane fuel cells(HEMFCs)using poly(aryl piperidinium)and compare them with proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs).It is found that different catalyst layer microstructures are between the two types of fuel *** ionomer/carbon(I/C)ratio does not have a remarkable impact on the HEMFC performance,while it has a strong impact on the PEMFC performance,indicating the weaker interaction between the HEMFC ionomer and *** dynamics simulations demonstrate that the HEMFC ionomer tends to distribute on the carbon support,unlike the PEMFC ionomer,which heavily covers the Pt *** results suggest that the poisoning effect of the ionomer on the catalyst is much weaker in HEMFCs,and the improved ionomer/catalyst interaction is beneficial for the HEMFC performances.

In this study,a hybrid model,the convolutional neural network-support vector regression model,was adopted to achieve prediction of the NO_(2)profile in Nanjing from January 2019to March *** the sudden decline in NO_(2)in February 2020,the contribution of the Coronavirus Disease-19(COVID-19)lockdown,Chinese New Year(CNY),and meteorologi cal conditions to the reduction of NO_(2)was ***_(2)vertical column densities(VCDs) from January to March 2020 decreased by 59.05%and 32.81%,relative to the same period in 2019 and 2021,*** the period of 2020 COVID-19,the average NO_(2)VCDs were 50.50%and 29.96%lower than those during the pre-lockdown and post-lockdown pe riods,*** NO_(2)volume mixing ratios(VMRs)during the 2020 COVID-19 lock down significantly decreased below 400 *** NO_(2)VMRs under the different wind fields were significantly lower during the lockdown period than during the pre-lockdown period This phenomenon could be attributed to the 2020 COVID-19 *** NO_(2)VMRs be fore and after the CNY were significantly lower in 2020 than in 2019 and 2021 in the same period,which further proves that the decrease in NO_(2)in February 2020 was attributed to the COVID-19 *** source analysis of an NO_(2)pollution episode during the lockdown period showed that the polluted air mass in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei was trans ported southwards under the action of the north wind,and the subsequent unfavorable meteorological conditions(local wind speed of<2.0 m/sec)resulted in the accumulation o pollutants.

Acetaminophen overdose-induced acute liver injury can be alleviated by static magnetic field

Acetaminophen(APAP),the most frequently used mild analgesic and antipyretic drug worldwide,is implicated in causing 46%of all acute liver failures in the USA and between 40%and 70%in *** predominant pharmacological intervention approved for mitigating such overdose is the antioxidant N-acetylcysteine(NAC);however,its efficacy is limited in cases of advanced liver injury or when administered at a late *** the current study,we discovered that treatment with a moderate intensity static magnetic field(SMF)notably reduced the mortality rate in mice subjected to high-dose APAP from 40%to 0%,proving effective at both the initial liver injury stage and the subsequent recovery *** the early phase of liver injury,SMF markedly reduced APAPinduced oxidative stress,free radicals,and liver damage,resulting in a reduction in multiple oxidative stress markers and an increase in the antioxidant glutathione(GSH).During the later stage of liver recovery,application of vertically downward SMF increased DNA synthesis and hepatocyte ***,the combination of NAC and SMF significantly mitigated liver damage induced by high-dose APAP and increased liver recovery,even 24 h post overdose,when the effectiveness of NAC alone substantially ***,this study provides a noninvasive non-pharmaceutical tool that offers dual benefits in the injury and repair stages following APAP *** note,this tool can work as an alternative to or in combination with NAC to prevent or minimize liver damage induced by APAP,and potentially other toxic overdoses.

LSM14B coordinates protein component expression in the P-body and controls oocyte maturation

The generation of mature and healthy oocytes is the most critical event in the entire female reproductive process,and the mechanisms regulating this process remain to be ***,we demonstrate that Smith-like(LSM)family member 14B(LSM14B)regulates oocyte maturation,and the loss of LSM14B in mouse ovaries leads to abnormal oocyte MII arrest and female ***,we find the aberrant transcriptional activation,indicated by abnormal non-surrounded nucleolus and surrounded nucleolus oocyte proportions,and abnormal chromosome assembly and segregation in Lsm14b-deficient mouse *** global transcriptome analysis suggests that many transcripts involved in cytoplasmic processing body(P-body)function are altered in Lsm14b-deficient mouse *** of Lsm14b results in the expression and/or localization changes of P-body components(such as LSM14A,DCP1A,and 4E-T).Notably,DDX6,a key component of the P-body,is downregulated and accumulates in the nuclei in Lsm14b-deficient mouse *** together,our data suggest that LSM14B links mouse oocyte maturation to female fertility through the regulation of the P-body.

Success of susceptibility-guided eradication of Helicobacter pylori in a region with high secondary clarithromycin and levofloxacin resistance rates

BACKGROUND Resistance to clarithromycin(CLA)and levofloxacin(LFX)of Helicobacter pylori(***)is increasing in severity,and successful eradication is ***,the eradication success rate has greatly declined,leaving a large number of patients with previous treatment *** To investigate secondary resistance rates,explore risk factors for antibiotic resistance,and assess the efficacy of susceptibility-guided *** We recruited 154 subjects positive for Urea Breath Test who attended The First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University between July 2022 and April *** underwent a string test after an overnight *** gastric juice was obtained and transferred to vials containing storage ***,DNA extraction and the specific DNA amplification were performed using quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR).Demographic information was also analyzed as part of the *** on these results,the participants were administered susceptibility-guided *** was compared with that of the empiric treatment *** A total of 132 individuals tested positive for the *** ureA gene by qPCR *** resistance rate reached a high level of 82.6%(n=109),LFX resistance rate was 69.7%(n=92)and dual resistance was 62.1%(n=82).Gastric symptoms[odds ratio(OR)=2.782;95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.076-7.194;P=0.035]and rural residence(OR=5.152;95%CI:1.407-18.861;P=0.013)were independent risk factors for secondary resistance to CLA and LFX,respectively.A total of 102 and 100 individuals received susceptibility-guided therapies and empiric treatment,*** antibiotic susceptibility-guided treatment and empiric treatment groups achieved successful eradication rates of 75.5%(77/102)and 59.0%(59/411)by the intention-to-treat(ITT)analysis and 90.6%(77/85)and 70.2%(59/84)by the per-protocol(PP)analysis,*** eradication rates of these two treatment strategies were significantly

Evaluation of frictional pressure drop correlations for air-water and air-oil two-phase flow in pipeline-riser system

Accurate prediction of the frictional pressure drop is important for the design and operation of subsea oil and gas transporting system considering the length of the pipeline. The applicability of the correlations to pipeline-riser flow needs evaluation since the flow condition in pipeline-riser is quite different from the original data where they were derived from. In the present study, a comprehensive evaluation of 24prevailing correlation in predicting frictional pressure drop is carried out based on experimentally measured data of air-water and air-oil two-phase flows in pipeline-riser. Experiments are performed in a system having different configuration of pipeline-riser with the inclination of the downcomer varied from-2°to-5°to investigated the effect of the elbow on the frictional pressure drop in the riser. The inlet gas velocity ranges from 0.03 to 6.2 m/s, and liquid velocity varies from 0.02 to 1.3 m/s. A total of885 experimental data points including 782 on air-water flows and 103 on air-oil flows are obtained and used to access the prediction ability of the correlations. Comparison of the predicted results with the measured data indicate that a majority of the investigated correlations under-predict the pressure drop on severe slugging. The result of this study highlights the requirement of new method considering the effect of pipe layout on the frictional pressure drop.

Ground-based microwave radiometers(MWRs)operating in the K-and V-bands(20–60 GHz)can help us obtain temperature and humidity profiles in the *** from some soundings from local meteorological observatories,the tropospheric atmosphere over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)has never been continuously *** part of the Chinese Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research Program(STEP),the Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Profile(TPPROFILE)project aims to construct a comprehensive MWR troposphere observation network to study the synoptic processes and environmental changes on the *** initiative has collected three years of data from the MWR *** paper introduces the data information,the data quality,and data *** applications of the data obtained from these MWRs were also *** comparisons of MWR against the nearest radiosonde observation demonstrate that the TP-PROFILE MWR system is adequate for monitoring the thermal and moisture variability of the troposphere over the *** continuous temperature and moisture profiles derived from the MWR data provide a unique perspective on the evolution of the thermodynamic structure associated with the heating of the *** TP-PROFILE project reveals that the low-temporal resolution instruments are prone to large uncertainties in their vapor estimation in the mountain valleys on the TP.

Transdermal treatment for malignant melanoma by aptamer-modified tetrahedral framework nucleic acid delivery of vemurafenib

Melanoma is one of the most malignant skin tumors, whose high invasion is generally associated with BRAF gene mutation. Although new chemotherapeutic drugs, such as vemurafenib, have been developed to inhibit the growth of melanoma, these drugs are usually administered intravenously or orally, resulting in toxic side effects on major tissues and organs. Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(tFNAs) are a novel type of DNA nanostructures with excellent biocompatibility and versatility which have been proven to penetrate through skin barrier with ease. In this study, we prepared t FNAs with vemurafenib and connected DNA aptamer AS1411 at the apex of t FNAs(AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib). On one hand, AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib could kill melanoma cells by blocking the mutated BRAF gene in vitro. Compared with free vemurafenib, AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib had no obvious toxicity to normal cells. On the other hand,AS1411-tFNAs could transfer vemurafenib to cross through the skin barrier and permeate into tumor tissues. In vivo, transdermal delivery of AS1411-t FNAs/vemurafenib could inhibit the growth of human A375melanoma, whose inhibiting effect was stronger than intravenous administration of vemurafenib. These results demonstrated the application prospects of tFNAs combined with chemotherapeutic drugs in skin tumors.

Hydrothermal synthesis of polyimide-linked covalent organic frameworks towards ultrafast and stable cathodic sodium storage

Redox-active organic materials are capturing growing attention as cathode materials for sustainable alkaline metal ion ***,the storage of Na+in most organic materials-based cathodes is plagued by low capacity and unsatisfying rate performance due to their low active site densities and limited exposed active ***,two polyimide-linked covalent organic frameworks(COFs),namely HATN-PD-COF and HATN-TAB-COF,were fabricated from hydrothermal synthesis with redoxactive triphenylene-2,3,6,7,10,11-hexacarboxylic acid and aromatic amines as starting *** X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy analysis indicate the high crystalline nature of these COFs with AA stacking configuration and orderly mesoporous tunnel.N_(2) sorption measurement discloses the permanent porosity of these two COFs with a Brunauer-EmmettTeller surface area of 1,065-1,200 m^(2)g^(-1)and a large pore size of 2.0-3.1 *** intermittent titration technique and density functional theory calculations reveal the facile Na+ion diffusion along the mesoporous tunnel of these COFs with a small energy barrier of 0.13-0.40 e *** particular,the as-prepared COFs based-cathodes show ultrafast and stable Na+storage associated with their conjugated electronic structure,highly ordered mesoporous tunnel,robust structure,and redox-active C=N/C=O-rich framework as exemplified by the high reversible capacity of 210 m A h g^(-1)at 200 m A g^(-1),record-high rate performance(195 m A h g^(-1)at a high current density of 10,000 m A g^(-1))among organic electrodes and the capacity retention of nearly 91%at 10,000 m A g^(-1)after 7,000 cycles for HATN-PD-COF.
