Objective:To determine the factors that contribute to the survival of elderly individuals diagnosed with brain glioma and develop a prognostic ***:Data from elderly individuals(age ≥65 years)histologically diagnosed with brain glioma were sourced from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)*** dataset was randomly divided into a training cohort and an internal validation cohort at a 6:4 ***,data obtained from Tangdu Hospital constituted an external validation cohort for the *** identification of independent prognostic factors was achieved through the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)and multivariate Cox regression analysis,enabling the construction of a *** performance was evaluated using C-index,ROC curves,calibration plot and decision curve analysis(DCA).Results:A cohort of 20 483 elderly glioma patients was selected from the SEER *** prognostic factors(age,marital status,histological type,stage,and treatment)were found to significantly impact overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS),with tumor location emerging as a sixth variable independently linked to ***,nomogram models were developed to predict the probabilities of survival at 6,12,and 24 *** assessment findings from the validation queue indicate a that the model exhibited strong ***:Our nomograms serve as valuable prognostic tools for assessing the survival probability of elderly glioma *** can potentially assist in risk stratification and clinical decision-making.

Enhancing catalytic activity through modulating the interaction between N-doped carbon and metal phosphides clusters is an effective ***,the electronic structure modulation of CoP_(2) supported N-modified carbon(CoP_(2)/NC)has been designed and prepared as efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),oxygen evolution reaction(OER),and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Notably,CoP_(2)/NC-1 catalyst exhibits impressive performance in alkaline media,with an ORR half-wave potential of 0.84 V,as well as OER and HER overpotentials of 290 and 129 mV(at 10 mA·cm^(−2)),*** addition,CoP_(2)/NC-1 produces a power density as high as 172.9 mW·cm^(−2),and excellent reversibility of 100 h at 20 mA·cm^(−2) in home-made Zn-air *** experimental results demonstrate that the synergistic interactions between N modified carbon substrate and CoP_(2) material significantly enhance the kinetics of ORR,OER,and *** functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the strong electrons redistribution of CoP_(2) induced by high-density N atoms at the interface,thus optimizing the key intermediates and significantly lower the energy barrier of *** electronic adjustments of CoP_(2) greatly enhance its kinetics of ORR/OER/HER,leading to faster *** study provides profound insights into the specific modification of CoP_(2) by N-doped carbon,enabling the construction of efficient catalysts.

Effects of water extract from Cornus controversa on the expression levels of DiSOC1-b and DiCCoAOMT1 genes related with the growth of dove tree seedlings

Although characterization of plant interactions has become a research hotspot to assess the adaptability of endangered plants, the underlying molecular basis remains elusive. Dove tree (Davidia involucrata) seedlings were watered with distilled water (CK), leaf water extract (0.025 g mL-1) and branch water extract (0.1 g mL-1) from Cornus controversa, respectively. Subsequently, the morphology, biomass and gene expression levels of DiSOC1-b and DiCCoAOMT1 were analyzed. The results showed that morphological traits and biomass accumulation of D. involucrata seedlings were decreased by the addition of leaf water extracts, and increased by branch water extracts. Moreover, the gene expression level of DiSOC1-b was significantly down-regulated, while the gene expression level of DiCCoAOMT1 was significantly up-regulated in the stems and roots of D. involucrata upon treatment with leaf water extracts of C. controversa. In contrast, the gene expression level of DiSOC1-b was significantly up-regulated in the leaves and stems, while the gene expression level of DiCCoAOMT1 was significantly down-regulated in the roots of D. involucrata upon treatment with branch water extracts of C. controversa. In addition, the expression level of DiSOC1-b was positively correlated with most of morphological traits and total biomass (P < 0.05), while DiCCoAOMT1 was negatively correlated with the majority of morphological traits in D. involucrata seedlings (P < 0.05). Taken together, these results suggest that water extracts from the leaves and branches of the C. controversa exhibit opposite allelopathic effects and affect the expression levels of genes related to growth (DiSOC1-b) and environmental adaptability (DiCCoAOMT1) in D. involucrata seedlings.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection often leads to pulmonary *** sequelae,including myocarditis and heart failure,have also been ***,the study presents two fulminant myocarditis cases infected by SARS-CoV-2 exhibiting remarkable elevation of cardiac biomarkers without significant pulmonary injury,as determined by imaging *** staining reveals the viral antigen within cardiomyocytes,indicating that SARSCoV-2 could directly infect the *** full viral genomes from respiratory,anal,and myocardial specimens are obtained via next-generation *** analyses of the whole genome and spike gene indicate that viruses in the myocardium/pericardial effusion and anal swabs are closely related and cluster together yet diverge from those in the respiratory *** addition,unique mutations are found in the anal/myocardial strains compared to the respiratory strains,suggesting tissue-specific virus mutation and *** findings indicate genetically distinct SARS-CoV-2 variants have infiltrated and disseminated within myocardial tissues,independent of pulmonary injury,and point to different infection routes between the myocardium and respiratory tract,with myocardial infections potentially arising from intestinal *** findings highlight the potential for systemic SARS-CoV-2 infection and the importance of a thorough multi-organ assessment in patients for a comprehensive understanding of thepathogenesisof COVID-19.

In the present contribution,we demonstrate that the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)over the bismuth sulfide(Bi_(2)S_(3))photoanode,which severely restricts its photoelectrochemical activity,is markedly accelerated by employing a sulfatecontaining ***-principle calculation points to the spontaneous adsorption of sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−))on Bi_(2)S_(3)and its capacity of stabilizing the OER intermediates through hydrogen bonding,which is further reinforced by increasing the local density of states near the Fermi level of Bi_(2)S_(3).Meanwhile,the electron transfer is also promoted to synergistically render the ratedetermining step(from O*to OOH*)of OER over Bi_(2)S_(3)kinetically *** but not least,benefitting from such enhanced OER activity and efficient charge separation resulted from depositing Bi_(2)S_(3)on the zinc oxide nanorods(ZnO NRs),forming a core–shell heterojunction,its photocurrent density achieves 8.61 mA·cm^(−2)at 1.23 VRHE,far surpassing those reported for additional Bi_(2)S_(3)-based and several state-of-the-art photoanodes in the literature and further exceeding their theoretical *** great promise of the Bi_(2)S_(3)/ZnO NRs is in view of such outperformance,the superior Faradaic yield of oxygen of more than~80%and the outstanding half-cell applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of~1%well corroborated.
