3-dB couplers,which are commonly used in photonic integrated circuits for on-chip information processing,precision measurement,and quantum computing,face challenges in achieving robust performance due to their limited 3-dB bandwidths and sensitivity to fabrication *** address this,we introduce topological physics to nanophotonics,developing a framework for topological 3-dB *** couplers exhibit broad working wavelength range and robustness against fabrication dimensional *** leveraging valley-Hall topology and mirror symmetry,the photonic-crystal-slab couplers achieve ideal 3-dB splitting characterized by a wavelength-insensitive scattering *** analysis confirms the superiority on broad bandwidth of 48 nm and robust splitting against dimensional errors of 20 *** further propose a topological interferometer for on-chip distance measurement,which also exhibits robustness against dimensional *** extension of topological principles to the fields of interferometers,may open up new possibilities for constructing robust wavelength division multiplexing,temperature-drift-insensitive sensing,and optical coherence tomography applications.

BACKGROUND Pulmonary fibrosis is one of the main reasons for the high mortality rate among acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)*** stromal cell-derived microvesicles(MSC-MVs)have been shown to exert antifibrotic effects in lung *** To investigate the effects and mechanisms of MSC-MVs on pulmonary fibrosis in ARDS mouse *** MSC-MVs with low hepatocyte growth factor(HGF)expression(siHGF-MSC-MVs)were obtained via lentivirus transfection and used to establish the ARDS pulmonary fibrosis mouse *** intubation,respiratory mechanics-related indicators were measured via an experimental small animal lung function *** of MSC-MVs in lung tissues was investigated by near-infrared live ***,western blotting,ELISA and other methods were used to detect expression of pulmonary fibrosis-related proteins and to compare effects on pulmonary fibrosis and fibrosis-related *** The MSC-MVs gradually migrated and homed to damaged lung tissues in the ARDS model *** with MSC-MVs significantly reduced lung injury and pulmonary fibrosis ***,low expression of HGF(siHGF-MSC-MVs)significantly inhibited the effects of MSC-MVs(P<0.05).Compared with the ARDS pulmonary fibrosis group,the MSC-MVs group exhibited suppressed expression of type I collagen antigen,type III collagen antigen,and the proteins transforming growth factor-βandα-smooth muscle actin,whereas the siHGF-MVs group exhibited significantly increased expression of these *** addition,pulmonary compliance and the pressure of oxygen/oxygen inhalation ratio were significantly lower in the MSC-MVs group,and the effects of the MSC-MVs were significantly inhibited by low HGF expression(all P<0.05).CONCLUSION MSC-MVs improved lung ventilation functions and inhibited pulmonary fibrosis in ARDS mice partly via HGF mRNA transfer.

Mosquitoes are of great medical significance as vectors of many deadly *** have been widely used in phylogenetic studies,but mitogenome knowledge within the family Culicidae is limited,and Culicidae phylogeny is far from *** this study,we surveyed the mitogenomes of 149 Culicidae species,including 7 newly sequenced *** analysis of 149 mosquito mitogenomes shows gene composition and order to be identical to that of an ancestral insect,and the AT bias,length variation,and codon usage are all consistent with that of other reported Dipteran *** analyses based on the DNA sequences of the 13 protein-coding genes from the 149 species robustly support the monophyly of the subfamily Anophelinae and the tribes Aedini,Culicini,Mansonini,Sabethini,and *** resolve ambiguous relationships between clades within the subfamily Culicinae,we performed topological tests and show that Aedini is a sister to Culicini and that Uranotaenini is a sister to(Mansonini)+(Toxorhynchitini+Sabethini).In addition,we estimated divergence times using a Bayesian relaxation clock based on the sequence data and 3 fossil calibration *** results show mosquitoes diverged during the Early Jurassic with massive Culicinae radiations during the Cretaceous,coincident with the emergence of angiosperms and the burst of mammals and ***,this study,which uses the largest number of Culicidae mitogenomes sequenced to date,comprehensively reveals the mitogenome characteristics and mitogenome-based phylogeny and divergence times of Culicidae,providing information for further studies on the mitogenome,phylogeny,evolution,and taxonomic revision of Culicidae.

Red soil,the most critical soil resource in tropical/subtropical regions worldwide,faces tremendous threats,including nutrient deficiency,acidification,and heavy metal *** is a great demand for multifunctional eco-materials capable of modifying this ***,we used widely distributed soil and biomass to develop a zeolite/biochar composite for synergistic red soil remediation and *** the composite material,the Pb2+and Cd2+remediation efficiencies reached 92.8%and 92.9%,respectively,in stems under optimal ***,the acidity and nutrient deficiency conditions of red soil significantly *** atomic-scale interaction mechanism during the remediation and amendment process was elucidated with complementary characterization methods,which revealed that in the zeolite/biochar composite material,zeolite contributes to longterm heavy metal remediation ***,biochar is responsible for soil quality amendment and short-term heavy metal ***,for the first time,single-atom heavy metal ions were observed on biochar during the remediation process,indicating the broad distribution of single atoms in the natural environment.

Bacterial biofilms,especially those caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria,have emerged as one of the greatest dangers to global public *** acceleration of antimicrobial resistance to conventional an-tibiotics and the severe lack of new drugs necessitates the development of novel agents for biofilm *** therapy(PDT)is a promising non-antibiotic method for treating bacterial ***,its application in biofilm eradication is hampered by the hypoxic microenvironment of biofilms and the physical protection of extracellular polymeric *** this study,we develop a composite nanoplatform with oxygen(O_(2))self-supplying and heat-sensitizing capabilities to improve the PDT efficacy against ***_(2)/ICG@PDA nanoparticles(CIP NPs)are fabricated by combining calcium peroxide(CaO_(2))with the photosensitizer indocyanine green(ICG)via electrostatic interactions,followed by coating with polydopamine(PDA).The CIP NPs can gradually generate O_(2)in response to the acidic microenvironment of the biofilm,thereby alleviating its hypoxic *** near-infrared(NIR)irradiation,the nanoplatform converts O_(2)into a significant amount of singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2))and heat to eradicate *** generated heat enhances the release of O_(2),accelerates the generation of^(1)O_(2)in PDT,increases cell membrane permeability,and increases bacterial sensitivity to^(1)O_(2).This nanoplatform significantly improves the efficacy of PDT in eradicating biofilm-dwelling bacteria without fostering drug *** on biofilm eradication demonstrate that this nanoplatform can eradicate over 99.9999%of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)biofilms under 5-min NIR ***,these integrated advantages enable the system to promote the healing of MRSA biofilm-infected wounds with negligible toxicity in vivo,indicating great promise for overcoming the obstacles associated with bacterial biofilm eradication.

Objective The activities and products of carbohydrate metabolism are involved in key processes of ***,its relationship with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is *** The cancer genome atlas(TCGA)-HCC and ICGC-LIRI-JP datasets were acquired via public *** expressed genes(DEGs)between HCC and control samples in the TCGA-HCC dataset were identified and overlapped with 355 carbohydrate metabolism-related genes(CRGs)to obtain differentially expressed CRGs(DE-CRGs).Then,univariate Cox and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)analyses were applied to identify risk model genes,and HCC samples were divided into high/low-risk groups according to the median risk ***,gene set enrichment analysis(GSEA)was performed on the risk model *** sensitivity of the risk model to immunotherapy and chemotherapy was also *** A total of 8 risk model genes,namely,G6PD,PFKFB4,ACAT1,ALDH2,ACYP1,OGDHL,ACADS,and TKTL1,were ***,the risk score,cancer status,age,and pathologic T stage were strongly associated with the prognosis of HCC *** the stromal score and immune score had significant negative/positive correlations with the risk score,reflecting the important role of the risk model in immunotherapy ***,the stromal and immune scores had significant negative/positive correlations with risk scores,reflecting the important role of the risk model in immunotherapy ***,we found that high-/low-risk patients were more sensitive to 102 drugs,suggesting that the risk model exhibited sensitivity to chemotherapy *** results of the experiments in HCC tissue samples validated the expression of the risk model *** Through bioinformatic analysis,we constructed a carbohydrate metabolism-related risk model for HCC,contributing to the prognosis prediction and treatment of HCC patients.

A weather-and brightness-based classification network(WBCNet) is proposed for driving scene classification to address the decreased accuracy in perception caused by weather and environment *** facilitate its applicability in vehicles and minimize computational demands on vehicle chips, WBCNet has been designed with special modules, including attention mechanisms and dilated convolutions. Dilated convolutions combined with residual connections empower WBCNet to concurrently handle information at various scales. This aids in simplifying the training and optimization of deep networks, consequently enhancing the model's performance and mitigating the risk of overfitting. The outstanding feature association capability originating from the fusion of channel attention and spatial attention enables WBCNet to focus more on the sky, lanes, and other traffic information features within the image. This design enables WBCNet to use only images as input, making it highly suitable for engineering applications. The output of WBCNet provides the basis for the downstream perception model selection algorithm, allowing it to choose the appropriate perception model for different scenes accurately. A dataset with complex scenes based on Carla is constructed for comparison to verify WBCNet's performance. Finally, a real-world driving dataset is used to validate the effectiveness and real-time performance of WBCNet.
