This study was to evaluate the effect of supplementing the diet of broilers with Neolamarckia cadamba leaf extract(NCLE) on meat quality by evaluating antioxidant parameters and the expression of genes in the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase/nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2/antioxidant responsive element(p38 MAPK/Nrf2/ARE) signaling pathway, coupled with LC-MS-based metabolomic analysis. A total of 480 one-day-old male broilers were randomly allocated to four treatment groups—a control(CON)group, which was fed a basal diet, and three NCLE treatment groups, which were fed the basal diet supplemented with 1.0, 200, or 400 mg/kg NCLE(N1. N2, and N3 groups, respectively) for 42 d. Compared with the CON group, meat quality was improved in the N2 and N3 groups, as evidenced by the higher p H45.in(P 5. and lower shear force(P 5. in breast muscle(BM) and lower drip loss at48 h(P 5. in leg muscle(LM). Moreover, BM antioxidant capacity was significantly enhanced in the N3group, characterized by an increase in the total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC), the concentrations of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and catalase(CAT), and the relative mRNA expression of p38 MAPK,extracellular-signal regulated kinase 1.2(ERK1.2), c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK), Nrf2, CAT, and GSH-Px(P 5.. Similarly, LM in the N3 group displayed higher T-AOC, increased GSH-Px and CAT concentrations,reduced malonaldehyde contents(P 5., and upregulation of the relative mRNA levels of JNK, Nrf2,heme oxygenase, CAT, and superoxide dismutase(SOD)(P 5.. Metabolomics analysis revealed that Darabinono-1.4-lactone and lyso-PAF C-1.-d4 were negatively correlated with shear force and cooking loss(P 5. and displayed increased abundance in BM of the N3 group. Effect of Annealing Ways on the Formation of Cube Texture in Ni-5.t% W Substrates for YBCO Coated Conductors

Two annealing ways, single-step annealing (SSA) and two-step annealing (TSA), were carried out to investigate the formation of the cube texture during recrystallization in the highly rolled Ni-5.t%W alloy by means of EBSD and XRD techniques. It was found that both the microstructure and cube texture of the highly rolled substrates depended strongly on the annealing ways. The TSA method yields sharper cube texture and higher proportion of low-angle grain boundaries compared with SSA method. In addition, the TSA method suppresses the formation of annealing twins during recrystallization and improves the degree of the in-plane alignment of the cube grains in the alloy slightly.

Developing a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 is critical for combatting the ***,we investigated long-term immune responses and protection against SARS-CoV-2 for the intranasal vaccination of a triple receptor-binding domain(RBD)scaffold protein(3R-NC)adjuvanted with a flagellin protein(KFD)(3R-NC+KFDi.n).In mice,the vaccination elicited RBD-specific broad-neutralizing antibody responses in both serum and mucosal sites sustained at high level over a *** long-lasting humoral immunity was correlated with the presence of long-lived RBD-specific IgG-and IgA-producing plasma cells,alongside the Th1. and Tfh1.-biased T-cell responses driven by the KFD *** upon these preclinical findings,an open labeled clinical trial was conducted in individuals who had been primed with the inactivated SARS-CoV-2(IAV)*** a favorable safety profile,the 3R-NC+KFDi.n boost elicited enduring broad-neutralizing IgG in plasma and IgA in salivary *** meet the challenge of frequently emerged variants,we further designed an updated triple-RBD scaffold protein with mutated RBD combinations,which can induce adaptable antibody responses to neutralize the newly emerging variants,including *** findings highlight the potential of the KFD-adjuvanted triple-RBD scaffold protein is a promising prototype for the development of a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Enhancement of comprehensive properties of Nb-Si based in-situ composites by Ho rare earth doping

This study examines the microstructure,mechanical properties(with a focus on room-temperature toughness),and oxidation resistance of Ho-doped NbDSi based in-situ *** base alloy consists of the coarse primary Nb_(5.Si_(3)phase and the Nb_(5.Si_(3)+Nbss(Nb solid solution)eutectic *** doping influences the solidification *** the Ho doping is higher than0.2 at%,the alloys transform into eutectic *** can be solid-solved in trace amounts in the Nbss ***,most of Ho forms a stable Ho oxide phase,which alleviates oxygen contamination problem to some ***,the interface separation between Ho oxide and other phases reduces the plastic deformation ***,with 0.4 at%Ho doping,the K_(Q)value is1..03 MPa·m^(1.2),which is 31.1.higher than that of the base *** strength of the Ho-doped alloys does not deteriorate with an increase in ***,the large network-like Ho_(2)O_(3)in the 0.8Ho alloy causes a decrease in toughness and *** addition,the Ho oxide phase effectively blocks the inward oxygen *** 0.8 at%Ho doping,the oxidation mass gain per unit area is 1..1. mg·cm^(2),which is 39.7%lower than that of the base alloy.

Sandstorm is a frequently occurred disastrous weather in northern China. The increasing occurrence frequency recently, especially the much more frequently occurred sandstorms with high intensity in the spring of 2000 have caused great loss to national economy. The combination of strong wind, exposed sandy soil on ground surface and unstable air current constitutes the necessary conditions for the sandstorms. However, the accelerated desertification process resulting from irrational human economic activities is responsible for the accelerated sandstorms. The effective measures to mitigate sandstorm lie in strengthening desertification control and eco-environmental protection.

Photothermal properties of Cu@polycarbonate composites with strong localized surface plasmon resonances

Copper is relatively low cost and highly abundant compared with the well-studied noble metals such as gold and ***,the poor plasmonic and high susceptibility towards oxidation limit the study of its optical properties and applications as ***,copper nanoparticles@polycarbonate(Cu@PC)composites were prepared by using a facile one-step solvothermal *** Cu@PC composites have strong localized surface plasmon resonances(LSPR)due to that the PC shell can induce the particles to form many-particles system with different particle numbers,which not only lead to overlap and hybridize of the LSPR modes,but also shift the LSPR away from the interband transitions,and the PC layer also prevents the oxidation of Cu *** photothermal conversion efficiency of Cu@PC composites reaches 41.1.under 808 nm continuous wave(CW)laser irradiation which is higher than previously reported Cu nanomaterials that have been ***,the composites also have high photothermal ***,interfacial evaporator is prepared by assembling the Cu@PC composites on scouring sponge as light absorption layer which has>92.8%absorption in entire solar spectrum *** seawater evaporation rate is 3.1.7 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1.with a E_(evaporator)/E_(water)of *** high evaporation rate interfacial evaporator with low cost,simple,and scalable approach shows great application value in the field of photothermal evaporation.

The coastal wetlands of the Yellow River Delta(YRD)in China are crucial for their valuable resources,environmental significance,and economic ***,these wetlands are also vulnerable to the dual threats of climate change and human *** substantial attention to the historical shifts in YRD's coastal wetlands,uncertainties remain regarding their future trajectory in the face of compound risks from climate change and anthropogenic *** on a range of remote sensing data sources,this study undertakes a comprehensive investigation into the evolution of YRD's coastal wetlands between 2000 and ***,the potential fate of coastal wetlands is thoroughly analyzed through the Land Use/Cover Change(LUCC)simulation using System Dynamic-Future Land Use Simulation(SD-FLUS)model and the extreme water levels projection integrated future sea-level rise,storm surge,and astronomical high tide in 2030,205.,and 21.0 under scenarios of SSP1.2.6,SSP2-4.5.and *** revealed that YRD's coastal wetlands underwent a marked reduction,shrinking by 1.88.72 km²from 2000 to *** decline was mostly attributed to the substantial expansion in the areas of artificial wetlands(increasing by 823.78 km2),construction land(increasing by 767.71.km²),and shallow water(increasing by 274.5. km²).Looking ahead to 2030-21.0,the fate of coastal wetlands appears to diverge based on different *** the SSP1.2.6 scenario,the area of coastal wetland is projected to experience considerable *** contrast,the SSP5.8.5.scenario anticipates a notable decrease in coastal *** to the inundated area suffered from the current extreme water levels,the study projects a decrease of 6.8%-1..6%in submerged coastal wetlands by 2030 and 9.4%-1..2%by 205. across all *** 21.0,these percentages are projected to decrease by 0.4%(SSP2-4.5.and 27.1.(SSP5.8.5.,but increase by 35.7%(SSP1.2.6).Results suggest that coastal wetlands in th
