Painful stimuli elicit first-line reflexive defensive reactions and,in many cases,also evoke second-line recuperative behaviors,the latter of which reflects the sensing of tissue damage and the alleviation of *** lateral parabrachial nucleus(lPBN),composed of external-(elPBN),dorsal-(dlPBN),and central/superior-subnuclei(jointly referred to as slPBN),receives sensory inputs from spinal projection neurons and plays important roles in processing affective information from external threats and body integrity ***,the organizational rules of lPBN neurons that provoke diverse behaviors in response to different painful stimuli from cutaneous and deep tissues remain *** this study,we used region-specific neuronal depletion or silencing approaches combined with a battery of behavioral assays to show that slPBN neurons expressing substance P receptor(NK1R)(lPBNNK1R)are crucial for driving pain-associated self-care behaviors evoked by sustained noxious thermal and mechanical stimuli applied to skin or bone/muscle,while elPBN neurons are dispensable for driving such ***,lPBNNK1R neurons are specifically required for forming sustained somatic pain-induced negative teaching signals and aversive memory but are not necessary for fear-learning or escape behaviors elicited by external ***,both lPBNNK1R and elPBN neurons contribute to chemical irritant-induced nocifensive *** results reveal the functional organization of parabrachial substrates that drive distinct behavioral outcomes in response to sustained pain versus external danger under physiological conditions.

AIM To elucidate the prevalence and risk of mortality of nonalcoholic liver cirrhosis(LC) patients with coronary artery disease(CAD).METHODS The study cohort included newly diagnosed nonalcoholic LC patients age ≥ 40 years old without a diagnosis of CAD from 2006 until 2011 from a longitudinal health insurance database. The mean follow-up period for the study cohort was 1152 ± 633 d. The control cohort was matched by sex, age, residence, and index date. Hazard ratios(HRs) were calculated using the Cox proportional hazard model and the Kaplan-Meier method. RESULTS After exclusion, a total of 3409 newly diagnosed nonalcoholic cirrhotic patients were identified from one million samples from the health insurance database. We found that CAD(5.1% vs 17.4%) and hyperlipidemia(20.6% vs 24.1%) were less prevalent in nonalcoholic LC patients than in normal subjects(all P < 0.001), whereas other comorbidities exhibited an increased prevalence. Among the comorbidities, chronic kidney disease exhibited the highest risk for mortality(adjusted HR(AHR) = 1.76; 95%CI: 1.55-2.00, P < 0.001). Ascites or peritonitis exhibited the highest risk of mortality among nonalcoholic cirrhotic patients(AHR = 2.34; 95%CI: 2.06-2.65, P < 0.001). Finally, a total of 170 patients developed CAD after a diagnosis of nonalcoholic LC. The AHR of CAD in nonalcoholic LC patients was 0.56(95%CI: 0.43-0.74, P < 0.001). The six-year survival rates for nonalcoholic LC patients with and without CAD were 52% and 50%, respectively(P = 0.012). CONCLUSION We conclude that CAD was less prevalent and associated with a reduced risk of mortality in nonalcoholic cirrhotic patients.

To understand its source,distribution,storage,and translocation in the subtropical forest ecosystems,mercury(Hg)concentrations and stable isotopes in forest biomass tissues(foliage,branch,bark,and trunk)were investigated at Ailao Mountain National Nature Reserve,Southwest *** total Hg(THg)concentrations in the samples show the following trend:mature foliage(57±19 ng g-1)>bark(11±4.0 ng g-1)>branch(5.4±2.5 ng g-1)>trunk(1.6±0.7 ng g-1).Using the measured THg concentrations and the quantity of respective biomasses,the Hg pools in the forest are:wood(60±26μg m-2)>bark(51±18μg m-2)>foliage(41±11μg m-2)>branch(26±8.3μg m-2).The tree biomasses displayed negativeδ202Hg(-1.83‰to-3.84‰)andΔ199Hg(-0.18‰to-0.62‰).The observedΔ200Hg(-0.08‰to 0.04‰)is not significantly from zero.AΔ199Hg/Δ201Hg ratio of 1.05 was found in tree biomasses,suggesting that mercury has undergone Hg(Ⅱ)photoreduction processes.A Hg-isotope based binary mixing model suggests that Hg in the tree biomasses mainly originated from foliage uptake of atmospheric Hg0,constituting 67%,80%,and 77%of Hg in wood,branch,and bark,*** study sheds new light on the transportation and sources of Hg in the subtropical forest ecosystems.

The void closure behavior in a central extra-thick plate during the gradient temperature rolling was simulated and a back propagation(BP)neural network model was *** thermal–mechanical finite element model of the gradient temperature rolling process was first developed and *** prediction error of the model for the rolling force is less than 2.51%,which has provided the feasibility of imbedding a defect in *** on the relevant data obtained from the simulation,the BP neural network was used to establish a prediction model for the compression degree of a void *** statistical analysis,80%of the data had a hit rate higher than 95%,and the hit rate of all data was higher than 90%,which indicates that the BP neural network can accurately predict the compression ***,the comparisons between the results with the gradient temperature rolling and uniform temperature rolling,and between the results with the single-pass rolling and multi-pass rolling were discussed,which provides a theoretical reference for developing process parameters in actual production.

BACKGROUND With the development of laparoscopic techniques,gallbladder cancer(GBC)is no longer a contraindication to laparoscopic surgery(LS).Although LS is recommended for stage T1 GBC,the value of LS for stage T2 GBC is still *** To evaluate the short-and long-term outcomes of LS in comparison to those of open surgery(OS)for stage T2 *** We searched the PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,Ovid,Google Scholar,and Web of Science databases for published studies comparing the efficacy of LS and OS in the treatment of stage T2 GBC,with a cutoff date of September *** Stata 15 statistical software was used for *** risk(RR)and weighted mean difference(WMD)were calculated to assess binary and continuous outcome indicators,***’s test and Egger’s test were used for detecting publication *** A total of five studies were included,with a total of 297 patients,153 in the LS group and 144 in the OS ***-analysis results showed that the LS group was better than the OS group in terms of operative time[WMD=-41.29,95%confidence interval(CI):-75.66 to-6.92,P=0.02],estimated blood loss(WMD=-261.96,95%CI:-472.60 to-51.31,P=0.01),and hospital stay(WMD=-5.67,95%CI:-8.53 to-2.81,P=0.0001),whereas there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of blood transfusion(RR=0.60,95%CI:0.31-1.15,P=0.13),complications(RR=0.72,95%CI:0.39-1.33,P=0.29),number of lymph nodes retrieved(WMD=–1.71,95%CI:-4.27 to-0.84,P=0.19),recurrence(RR=0.41,95%CI:0.06-2.84,P=0.36),3-year and 5-year overall survival(RR=0.99,95%CI:0.82-1.18,P=0.89 and RR=1.02,95%CI:0.68-1.53,P=0.92;respectively),and 3-year and 5-year disease-free survival(RR=1.01,95%CI:0.84-1.21,P=0.93 and RR=1.15,95%CI:0.90-1.46,P=0.26;respectively).CONCLUSION The long-term outcomes of LS for T2 GBC are similar to those of OS,but LS is superior to OS in terms of operative time,intraoperative bleeding,and postoperative hospital ***,these findings should be

Rainfall and inflow effects on soil erosion for hillslopes dominated by sheet erosion or rill erosion in the Chinese Mollisol region

Erosion agents and patterns profoundly affect hillslope soil loss characteristics. However, few attempts have been made to analyze the effects of rainfall and inflow on soil erosion for hillslopes dominated by sheet erosion or rill erosion in the Chinese Mollisol region. The objective of this study was to discuss the erosive agent(rainfall or inflow), hillslope erosion pattern(sheet erosion or rill erosion) and slope gradient effects on runoff and soil losses. Two soil pans(2.0 m long, 0.5 m wide and 0.5 m deep) with 5° and 10° slopes were subjected to rainfall(0 and 70 mm h–1) and inflow(0 and 70 mm h–1) experiments. Three experimental combinations of rainfall intensity(RI) and inflow rate(IR) were tested using the same water supply of 70 mm by controllingthe run time. A flat soil surface and a soil bed with a straight initial rill were prepared manually, and represented hillslopes dominated by sheet erosion and rill erosion, respectively. The results showed that soil losses had greater differences among treatments than total runoff. Soil losses decreased in the order of RI70+IR70 > RI70+IR0 > RI0+IR70. Additionally, soil losses for hillslopes dominated by rill erosion were 1.7-2.2 times greater at 5° and 2.5-6.9 times greater at 10° than those for hillslopes dominated by sheet erosion. The loss of <0.25 mm soil particles and aggregates varying from 47.72%-99.60% of the total soil loss played a dominant role in the sediment. Compared with sheet erosion hillslopes, rill erosion hillslopes selectively transported more microaggregates under a relatively stable rill development stage, but rills transported increasinglymore macroaggregates under an active rill development stage. In conclusion, eliminating raindrop impact on relatively gentle hillslopes and preventing rill development on relatively steep hillslopes would be useful measures to decrease soil erosion and soil degradation in the Mollisol region of northeastern China.

Objective:The study objective was to determine phenolic components for the quality control(QC)of cultivated Sarcandra glabra(Thunb.)Makino(***).Materials and Methods:A sensitive,ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric method for the simultaneous determination of 12 phenolic components has been *** caffeoylquinic acids,two caffeoylshikimic acids,and four flavanonol glucosides were selected for the comprehensive analysis of distribution in different parts(root,stem,and leaf).Results:Twelve phenolic components were linear in the concentration range of 0.005–5.0μg/mL(R^(2)>0.995).The relative standard deviation of intra-day and inter-day precision across three validation runs over the entire concentration range was<5%.The recovery determined was within 5%in terms of relative *** results showed that the 12 phenolic compounds were mainly distributed in leaves and stems far more than those in ***:This study provided an ultra-high-performance liquid chromatograph with triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer quantitative method of 12 phenolic components for the QC of cultivated *** was found that the phenolic components were significantly accumulated in the aerial parts(stems and leaves)of cultivated ***.
