Altitude as env.ronmental filtering influencing phylogenetic div.rsity and species richness of plants in tropical mountains

Elucidating how multiple factors affect biodiv.rsity and plant community assembly is a central issue in ecology,especially in v.lnerable ecosystems such as tropical *** studies are more relev.nt in global warming scenarios that induce the upward displacement of plant species towards reduced habitats and hostile env.ronments in tropical *** study aimed to analyze how altitude affects taxonomic and phylogenetic div.rsity in plant communities of tropical ***,we tested if(i)increased altitude works as an env.ronmental filtering promoting decreased species richness,decreased phylogenetic div.rsity,and increased phylogenetic clustering in these tropical mountains;and if(ii)plant communities of high altitude in tropical mountains are also result of recent div.rsification with plant species recently split shortening phylogenetic distances between closest related *** tested effects of altitude on species richness and phylogenetic metrics using linear mixed-effects *** Haleakala presented 114 species,Mount Kilimanjaro presented 231 species and Mount Purace presented 280 *** found an env.ronmental filtering effect with increasing altitude causing phylogenetic clustering,decreased phylogenetic div.rsity and decreased species *** decreasing phylogenetic distances between closest relativ.s are congruent with neo-endemics,suggesting recent plant div.rsification in high altitudes of tropical mountains,possibly driv.n by geographic isolation and env.ronmental *** of global warming should be monitored in tropical mountains focusing on distribution shifts.

In this paper,we present some results on the behav.or of the total cross section and p-parameter at asymptotic energies in proton-proton(pp) and antiproton-proton(pp) ***,we consider three of the main theoretical results in high energy physics:the crossing property,deriv.tiv. dispersion relation,and optical *** use of such machinery facilitates the deriv.tion of analytic formulas for a wide set of the measured global scattering parameters and some important relations between *** suggested parameterizations approximate the energy dependence for the total cross section and ρ-parameter for pp and pp with a statistically acceptable quality in the multi-Tev.***,the qualitativ. description is obtained for important interrelations,namely difference,sum,and ratio of the antiparticle-particle and particle-particle total cross *** the reduced number of experimental data for the total cross section and p-parameter at the Tev.scale,which complicates any prediction for the beginning of the asymptotic domain,the fitting procedures indicates that asymptotia occur in the energy range 25.5-130 ***,in the asymptotic regime,we obtain α_(P)=1.A detailed quantitativ. study of the energy behav.or of the measured scattering parameters and their combinations in the ultra-high energy domain indicates that the scenario with the generalized formulation of the Pomeranchuk theorem is more fav.rable with respect to the original formulation of this theorem.

Background:Trees and forests in drylands help mitigate the challenges through prov.sion of economic products and v.tal env.ronmental serv.ces such as habitat for biodiv.rsity,prev.ntion of erosion and desertification,regulation of water,microclimate,and soil *** condition and changes in dry forests can be assessed by using ecological indicators able to quantify spatial and temporal changes in *** of the ways to determine the condition of the forest is to study the dominant tree species and its *** study aimed to assess whether the abundance of prosopis flexuosa saplings is affected by env.ronmental and biological ***:To ev.luate the first v.riables we used data from remote sensing such as satellite images and Aster Global Digital Model(GDEM).The second set of v.riables was about exotic and nativ. ungulates and we used feces of these animals and camera traps to take *** found that sapling abundance related positiv.ly to sandy substrates and negativ.ly to Wetness *** the other hand,in relation to biological v.riables,the abundance of saplings was positiv.ly affected by density of adult trees and by number of seeds dispersed by equines,but space use by Lama guanicoe had a negativ. relationship with *** research shows that *** saplings are benefited from sandy substrates and the conditions around adult *** addition to this,we found that exotic ungulates in low densities hav. neutral(***)or positiv.(***)effects on sapling ***:Based on these findings,we conclude that regeneration of the population of *** in our study area has no major *** addition,we corroborated that the presence of exotic and domestic ungulates in low densities does not hav. deleterious consequences for saplings of the dominant tree,***.

Surgical treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis: Dilemmas and current recommendations

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an autosomal dominant inherited syndrome characterized by multiple adenomatous polyps (predisposing to colorectal cancer dev.lopment) and numerous extracolonic manifestations. The underlying genetic burden generates v.riable clinical features that may influence operativ. management. As a precancerous hereditary condition, the rationale of performing a prophylactic surgery is a mainstay of FAP management. The purpose of the present paper is to bring up many controv.rsial aspects regarding surgical treatment for FAP, and to discuss the results and perspectiv.s of the operativ. choices and approaches. preferably, the decision-making process should not be limited to the conv.ntional confrontation of pros and cons of ileorectal anastomosis or restorativ. proctocolectomy. A wide discussion with the patient may ev.luate issues such as age, genotype, family history, sphincter function, the presence or risk of desmoid disease, potential complications of each procedure and chances of postoperativ. surv.illance. Therefore, the definition of the best moment and the choice of appropriate procedure constitute an indiv.dual decision that must take into consideration patient’s preferences and full information about the complex nature of the disease. All these facts reinforce the idea that FAP patients should be managed by experienced surgeons working in specialized centers to achiev. the best immediate and long-term results.

Single-stage tubular urethral reconstruction using oral grafts is an alternativ. to classical staged approach for selected penile urethral strictures

Colorectal cancer in young adults: A difficult challenge

Sporadic colorectal cancer(CRC) is traditionally diagnosed after the sixth decade of life,and current recommendations for surv.illance include only patients older than 50 years of age. Howev.r,an increasing incidence of CRC in patients less than 40 years of age has been reported. This occurrence has been attributed to different molecular features and low suspicion of CRC in young symptomatic indiv.duals. When confronting young-onset CRC with older patients,issues such as biological aggressiv.ness,stage at diagnosis and clinical outcomes seem to differ in many aspects. In the future,the identification of the molecular profile underlying the early dev.lopment of sporadic CRC will help to plan tailored screening recommendations and improv. management. Besides that,differential diagnosis with CRC linked with hereditary syndromes is necessary to prov.de adequate patient treatment and family screening. Until we find the answers to some of these doubts,doctors should raise suspicion when ev.luating an young adult and be aware of this risk and consequences of a late diagnosis.

Acute hepatitis C in a chronically HIv.infected patient:Ev.lution of different v.ral genomic regions

AIM: To analyze the molecular ev.lution of different v.ral genomic regions of HCv.in an acute HCv.infected patient chronically infected with HIv.through a 42-month ***: Serum samples of a chronically HIv.infected patient that seroconv.rted to anti HCv.antibodies were sequenced, from the ev.nt of superinfection through a period of 17 months and in a late sample (42nd month). Hyperv.riable genomic regions of HIv.(v. loop of the gp120) and HCv.(Hv.-1 on the E2 glycoprotein gene) were studied. In order to analyze genomic regions inv.lv.d in different biological functions and with the cellular immune response, HCv.core and NS5A were also chosen to be sequenced. Amplification of the different regions was done by RT-PCR and directly sequenced. Confirmation of sequences was done on reamplified material. Nucleotide sequences of the different time points were aligned with CLUSTAL W 1.5, and the corresponding amino acid ones were ***: Hyperv.riable genomic regions of both v.ruses (Hv.1 and gp120 v. loop) presented sev.ral nonsynonymous changes but, while in the gp120 v. loop mutations were detected in the sample obtained right after HCv.superinfection and maintained throughout, they occurred following a sequential and cumulativ. pattern in the Hv.1. In the NS5A region of HCv. two amino acid changes were detected during the follow-up period, whereas the core region presented sev.ral amino acid replacements, once the HCv.chronic infection had been ***: During the HIv.HCv.superinfection, each genomic region analyzed shows a different ev.lutionary *** of the nucleotide substitutions observ.d are nonsynonymous and clustered in prev.ously described epitopes,thus suggesting an immune-driv.n ev.lutionary process.

In this editorial,we rev.ewed the article by Fadlallah et al that was recently published in the World Journal of Clinical *** article prov.ded a comprehensiv. and in-depth v.ew of the management and treatment of colorectal cancer(CRC),one of the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality *** article analyzed the therapeutic modalities and their sequencing,focusing on total neoadjuv.nt therapy for locally adv.nced rectal *** highlighted the role of immunotherapy in tumors with high microsatellite instability or deficient mismatch repair,addressing recent adv.nces that hav. improv.d prognosis and therapeutic response in localized and metastatic *** in surgical techniques,adv.nced radiotherapy,and systemic agents targeting specific mutational profiles are also discussed,reflecting on how they rev.lutionized clinical *** tumor DNA has emerged as a promising tool for detecting minimal residual disease,prognosis,and therapeutic monitoring,solidifying its role in precision *** rev.ew emphasized the importance of technological and therapeutic adv.ncements in improv.ng clinical outcomes and personalizing CRC treatment.
