POLAR is a compact polarimeter dedicated to measuring the polarization of GRBs between 50-350 *** light collection of 200 mm×6 mm×6 mm plastic bars has been simulated and optimized in order to get uniform response to X-rays at different points along one single *** to the Monte Carlo results,the amplitude uniformity strongly depends on the level of polishing of the scintillator surface and the covering.A uniformity of 89% is achieved with a prototype constructed by a non position-sensitive PMT and an array of 4×4 bars.

A lot of granitoid rocks occur in Panxi area, SW China, which were formed during Jinningnian-Chengjiangnian, Hercynian-Indosinian and Yenshanian. According to their trace elements geochemical and petrochemical characteristics, they can be divided into calc-alkaline and alkaline granites. The petrogenesis and magma sources of these granitoid rocks are different. The Jinningnian-Chengjiangnian granitoid rocks include Mopanshan granite body, Moshaying granite body and Lugu granite body. The Mopanshan body might be formed by partial melting of the lower crust and due to refusion of basic volcanic rocks. The magma source of the Moshaying and the Lugu bodies might be formed by partial melting of the upper crust. The Hongge-Ailanghe granites belonging to the Hercynian-Indosinian may be products of complex melting from the crust-mantle materials caused by the increase of temperature during rifting stage in the area. New evidence for lack of CMB power on large scales

＜正＞Since 1993, a small GRB monitor system had been designed and constructed in order to detect the burst-like events, such as, Gamma ray bursts （GRB） and Solar Flares （SF）, which are especially for the set up of the on-orbit part of ShenZhou-2 （SZ-2） spacecraft. According to the results of BATSE observations at that time, the monitor system had been arranged as three sub-detectors to cover a wider energy band than BATSE and to keep the similar time resolution as BATSE had. They are Soft X-ray detector （SXD）, X-ray detector （XD） and γ-ray detector（GD）.

A digitalized temperature map is recovered from the first light sky survey image published by the Planck team, from which an angular power spectrum of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) is derived. The amplitudes of the low multipoles (low-l) measured from the preliminary Planck power spectrum are significantly lower than those reported by the WMAP team. Possible systematical effects are far from enough to explain the observed low-l differences.

A method has been developed to establish the crystal position look-up table for positron emission tomography with block detectors. It is based on the principle that the counts in crystal position histogram obey the Gaussian mixture model (GMM). This method has taken full consideration of the characteristics of the GMM and the detector itself. The experimental results have proved that it is simple, reliable, and universal.

A regressive correction method is presented with the primary goal of improving ENSO simulation in regional coupled GCM. It focuses on the correction of ocean-atmosphere exchanged fluxes. On the basis of numerical experiments and analysis, the method can be described as follows: first, driving the ocean model with heat and momentum flux computed from a long-term observation data set; the pro-duced SST is then applied to force the AGCM as its boundary condition; after that the AGCM’s simula-tion and the corresponding observation can be correlated by a linear regressive formula. Thus the re-gressive correction coefficients for the simulation with spatial and temporal variation could be obtained by linear fitting. Finally the coefficients are applied to redressing the variables used for the calculation of the exchanged air-sea flux in the coupled model when it starts integration. This method together with the anomaly coupling method is tested in a regional coupled model, which is composed of a global grid-point atmospheric general circulation model and a high-resolution tropical Pacific Ocean model. The comparison of the results shows that it is superior to the anomaly coupling both in reducing the coupled model ‘climate drift’ and in improving the ENSO simulation in the tropical Pacific Ocean.
