Fast and nondestructive monitoring nitrogen status has the great significance on precision nitrogen management in wheat. The primary objective of this study was to explore the optimum wavebands, spectrum indices and quantitative models for estimating leaf nitrogen content （LNC） and leaf nitrogen accumulation （LNA） in wheat by precise analysis on canopy hyperspectral information. On the basis of detailed data from 4-year field experiments under varied nitrogen rates and wheat cultivars, a systematic analysis was undertaken on quantitative relationships of LNC and LNA to NDSI （Normalized difference spectrum index, NDSI） composed of any two wavebands with original reflectance and its derivative within the spectral range of 350-2500 nm, SASI （Soil adjusted spectrum index, SASI） and the selected best spectrum index with different bandwidths. The results showed that the sensitive wavebands of nitrogen status mostly lie in the regions of visible and near-infrared. The LNC monitoring models developed from NDSI （R1350, R700） and NDSI （FD700, FD690） gave decision coefficient（R2） of 0.843 and 0.857, with stand error （SE） as 0.380 and 0.362, respectively. The LNA models based on NDSI （R860, R720） and NDSI （FD736, FD526） had R2 of 0.900 and 0.885, and SE of 1.327 and 1.449. Testing of the LNC models on NDSI （R1350, R700） and NDSI （FD700, FD690） with independent experiment data showed that R2 value is over 0.758 and RRMSE is lower than 0.266. Then the models constructed on SASI （R1350, R700） displayed the best performance with L parameter as 0.09. Furthermore, expanding the bandwidths of NDSI （R1350, R700） at 1nm interval produced LNC models with similar performance within about 20nm bandwidth, over which the statistical parameters of the models became less stable. Validation of the derived LNA equations with the independent dada also found that the models based on NDSI （R860, R720） and NDSI（FD736, FD526） produced estimation accuracy as more over 0.812 with RRMSE less than 0. 253

Estimating wheat spike-leaf composite indicator(SLI)dynamics by coupling spectral indices and machine learning

The contribution of spike photosynthesis to grain yield(GY)has been overlooked in the accurate spectral prediction of ***,it’s essential to construct and estimate a yield-related phenotypic trait considering spike *** on field and spectral reflectance data from 19 wheat cultivars under two nitrogen fertilization conditions in two years,our objectives were to(i)construct a yield-related phenotypic trait(spike–leaf composite indicator,SLI)accounting for the contribution of the spike to photosynthesis,(ii)develop a novel spectral index(enhanced triangle vegetation index,ETVI3)sensitive to SLI,and(iii)establish and evaluate SLI estimation models by integrating spectral indices and machine learning *** results showed that SLI was sensitive to nitrogen fertilizer and wheat cultivar variation as well as a better predictor of yield than the leaf area ***3 maintained a strong correlation with SLI throughout the growth stage,whereas the correlations of other spectral indices with SLI were poor after spike *** spectral indices and machine learning algorithms improved the estimation accuracy of SLI,with the most accurate estimates of SLI showing coefficient of determination,root mean square error(RMSE),and relative RMSE values of 0.71,0.047,and 26.93%,*** results provide new insights into the role of fruiting organs for the accurate spectral prediction of *** high-throughput SLI estimation approach can be applied for wheat yield prediction at whole growth stages and may be assisted with agronomical practices and variety selection.

Effects of dense planting patterns on photosynthetic traits of different vertical layers and yield of wheat under different nitrogen rates

A two-year field experiment was conducted to measure the effects of densification methods on photosynthesis and yield of densely planted ***-plant and inter-row distances were used to define ratefixed pattern(RR)and row-fixed pattern(RS)density ***,four nitrogen(N)rates(0,144,192,and 240 kg N ha-1,termed N0,N144,N192,and N240)were applied with three densities(225,292.5,and 360×10^(4)plants ha^(-1),termed D225,D292.5,and D360).The wheat canopy was clipped into three equal vertical layers(top,middle,and bottom layers),and their chlorophyll density(Ch D)and photosynthetically active radiation interception(FIPAR)were *** showed that the response of Ch D and FIPAR to N rate,density,and pattern varied with different layers.N rate,density,and pattern had significant interaction effects on Ch *** maximum values of whole-canopy Ch D in the two seasons appeared in N240 combined with D292.5 and D360 under RR,*** two growing seasons,FIPAR values of RR were higher than those of RS by 29.37%for the top layer and 5.68%for the middle layer,while lower than those of RS by 20.62%for the bottom layer on *** a low N supply(N0),grain yield was not significantly affected by density for both *** N240,increasing density significantly increased yield under RR,but D360 of RS significantly decreased yield by 3.72%and 9.00%versus D225 in two seasons,*** an appropriate and sufficient N application,RR increased the yield of densely planted wheat more than ***,the maximum yield in two seasons appeared in the combination of D360 with N144 or N192 rather than of D225 with N240 under both patterns,suggesting that dense planting combined with an appropriate N-reduction application is feasible to increase photosynthesis capacity and yield.

Development of a novel critical nitrogen concentration-cumulative transpiration curve for optimizing nitrogen management under varying irrigation conditions in winter wheat

Accurate nitrogen(N)nutrition diagnosis is essential for improving N use efficiency in crop *** widely used critical N(Nc)dilution curve traditionally depends solely on agronomic variables,neglecting crop water *** three-year field experiments with winter wheat,encompassing two irrigation levels(rainfed and irrigation at jointing and anthesis)and three N levels(0,180,and 270 kg ha1),this study aims to establish a novel approach for determining the Nc dilution curve based on crop cumulative transpiration(T),providing a comprehensive analysis of the interaction between N and water *** Nc curves derived from both crop dry matter(DM)and T demonstrated N concentration dilution under different conditions with different *** equation Nc=6.43T0.24 established a consistent relationship across varying irrigation *** test results indicated that the nitrogen nutrition index(NNI),calculated from this curve,effectively identifies and quantifies the two sources of N deficiency:insufficient N supply in the soil and insufficient soil water concentration leading to decreased N availability for root ***,the NNI calculated from the Nc-DM and Nc-T curves exhibited a strong negative correlation with accumulated N deficit(Nand)and a positive correlation with relative grain yield(RGY).The NNI derived from the Nc-T curve outperformed the NNI derived from the Nc-DM curve concerning its relationship with Nand and RGY,as indicated by larger R2 values and smaller *** novel Nc curve based on T serves as an effective diagnostic tool for assessing winter wheat N status,predicting grain yield,and optimizing N fertilizer management across varying irrigation *** findings would provide new insights and methods to improve the simulations of water-N interaction relationship in crop growth models.

Multi-scenario land use prediction and layout optimization in nanjing Metropolitan Area based on the PLUS model

The metropolitan area is a crucial spatial element in promoting new urbanization in *** possesses theoretical and empirical value in the determination of the evolutionary patterns and development trends necessary for regional integration and high-quality *** study focused on nanjing Metropolitan Area,the first national metropolitan area in China,and established three development scenarios by combining ecological–economic spatial conflict(EESC)zones and national key ecological functional *** scenarios simulate the spatial distribution of future land use and land cover change(LUCC)using the development zone planning function of the patch generation land use simulation(PLUS)*** results show that:(1)Between 2000 and 2020,the most prominent characteristics of land use change were largely the massive expansion of built-up land and the significant decline of farmland,while changes in the area of ecological land were less evident.(2)EESC areas experienced significant changes over the past 20 years,but the overall level of conflict was *** land was the main land use type in the lowest-conflict area,while built-up land was the main land use type in the highest-conflict area.(3)From 2030 to 2050,further expansion of built-up areas is expected,with continued decrease of *** regulation of these land use changes can be achieved through different development zone *** economic development scenario had the largest built-up land area,while the ecological protection scenario had the largest farmland *** study simulates the spatial pattern changes in the metropolitan area based on spatial conflict patterns and national main functional area planning process,providing a scientific reference for future spatial planning and management.

Hydrogels have been extensively studied for applications in various fields, such as tissue engineering and soft robotics, as determined by their mechanical properties. The mechanical design of hydrogels typically focuses on the modulus, toughness, and deformability. These characteristics play important roles and make great achievements for hydrogel use. In recent years, a growing body of research has concentrated on the fatigue property of hydrogels, which determines their resistance to crack propagation in the networks during cyclic mechanical loads for applications. However, knowledge of hydrogel fatigue behavior remains notably deficient. Here, we present a brief overview of the fatigue behavior of hydrogels, encompassing the general experimental methods to measure the fatigue property and fundamental theoretical calculation models. Then, we highlight multiple strategies to enhance the fatigue resistance of hydrogels. Finally, we present our perspectives on fatigue-resistant hydrogels, outstanding challenges and potential directions for future research.

Carbon isotopes have been used extensively in tracing the sources of ***,primary source facies and secondary alteration controls on oil isotopic compositions have not been well resolved,resulting in application uncertainties.A case study was undertaken for an alkaline lacustrine oil system in a lower Permian formation in the Junggar Basin,NW *** indicate that increasing maturity causes the carbon isotopic composition to become heavier for only short–middle-chain compounds,whereas source facies-related carbon assimilation controls the compositions of short-,middle-,and long-chain *** particular,light-carbon assimilation during organic-matter degradation makes the isotopic composition lighter,whereas heavy carbon from the water mass makes it ***,oils in this study area were divided into Type U and Type N oils based on individual compound carbon isotopic compositions,reflecting the difference in source facies in a highly saline and reducing stratified water *** results provide a better understanding of the controls on carbon isotopes in oil in sedimentary basins,reducing the uncertainty in oil–source correlation and addressing the origin of oil.
