Combined multimodal nonlinear optical (NLO) microscopies were used to detect and quantif. morphological changes associated with stroma and epithelial transf.rmation in colon cancer. Our f.ndings provide complementary inf.rmation about tissue microstructure, displaying distinctive patterns between normal and malignant human colon. Additionally, we have demonstrated the usef.lness of.using f.xed tissues f.r the disease diagnostic and prognostic.?The present work provides a f.amework f.r using NLO techniques as a clinical diagnostic tool f.r human colon cancer. NLO metrics could be applied to other disorders, which are characterized by abnormal cell prolif.ration and collagen assembly.

The endothelin f.mily has been related with several pathological diseases including cardiovascular disorders, hypertension and cancer. However, little is known about endothelin system in early stages of.colorectal cancer and there are no studies evaluating dif.erences in proximal and distal colon segments. To deepen in this issue, we have studied the endothelin’s f.mily gene and protein expression in normal mice and early stage of.a mice model of.Azoxymethane (AOM) and Dextran Sodium Sulphate (DSS) induced colorectal cancer in proximal and distal segments. Additionally, using nonlinear microscopy (NLM) techniques, we have characterized collagen changes in early stages of.cancer disease development. In the present study, we have f.und signif.cant dif.erential gene expression and protein localization between these colon regions, which allow us to hypothesize a new role f.r the ET-2 as an early marker of.colon cancer development.

The deterioration of.environmental conditions is the major contributory f.ctor to poor health and quality of.lif. that hinders sustainable development in any *** mining is one of.the major industries that contribute to the economy of.a country but it also impacts the *** chemical parameters of.the coal,overburden,soil and sediments along with the coal mine drainage(CMD)were investigated in order to understand the overall environmental impact f.om high sulphur coal mining at northeastern coalf.eld(India).It was f.und that the total sulphur content of.the coal is noticeably high compared to the overburden(OB)and *** volatile matter of.the coal is suf.iciently high against the high ash content of.the soil and *** water samples have a High Electrical Conductivity(EC)and high Total Dissolve Solid(TDS).Lower values of.pH,indicate the dissolution of.minerals present in the coal as well as other minerals in the mine rejects/*** chemical and nano-mineralogical composition of.coal,soil and overburden samples was studied using a High Resolution-Transmission Electron Microscopy(HR-TEM),Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(EDS),Selected-Area Dif.raction(SAED),f.eld Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy(f.-SEM)/EDS,X-ray dif.raction(XRD),f.urier Transf.rm Inf.ared Spectroscopy(f.IR),Raman and Ion-Chromatographic analysis,and Mossbauer *** dif.erent geochemical analysis it has been f.und that the mine water sample f.om Ledo colliery has the lowest pH value of.3.30,Tirap colliery samples have the highest electrical conductivity value of..40 ms cm^(-1)Both Ledo and Tirap coals have total sulphur contents within the range 3-3.50%.The coal mine water f.om Tirap colliery(TW-15 B)has high values of.Mg^(2+)(450 ppm),and Br^-(227.17 ppm).XRD analysis revealed the presence of.minerals including quartz and hematite in the *** analysis of.coal mine overburden(OB)indicates the presence both of.pyrite and marcasite which was also

The N-representability conditions on the reduced second-order reduced density matrix (2-RDM), impose restrictions not only in the context of.reduced density matrix theory (RDMT), but also on f.nctionals advanced in one-matrix theory such as natural orbital f.nctional theory (NOf.), and on f.nctionals depending on the one-electron density such as those of.density f.nctional theory (Df.). We review some aspects of.the applications of.these N-representability conditions in these theories and present some conclusions.

The K/HDEL receptor ERD2 mediates the transport of.soluble endoplasmic reticulum （ER）-resident proteins containing a C-terminal K/HDEL signal f.om the Golgi apparatus back to the ER via COPI （COat Protein I）-coated vesicles. Sorting of.ERD2 within COPI vesicles is f.cilitated by p24 proteins. In Arabidop- sis, p24δ5 has been shown to interact directly with ERD2 via its luminal GOLD （GOLgi Dynamics） domain and with COPI proteins via its cytoplasmic C-terminal tail at the acidic pH of.the Golgi apparatus. Several members of.the p24 f.mily in mammals and yeast have been shown to be glycosylated, but whether Arabidopsis p24 proteins are glycosylated and the role of.the sugar moiety in p24 f.nction remain unclear. Here, we show that Arabidopsis p24δ5 protein is N-glycosylated in its GOLD domain. f.rthermore, we demonstrate that this post-translational modif.cation is important f.r its coupled transport with p241β2 at the ER-Golgi interf.ce, f.r its interaction with the K/HDEL receptor ERD2, and f.r retrograde transport of.ERD2 and K/HDEL ligands f.om the Golgi apparatus back to the ER.

Neonatal Necrotizing f.sciitis af.er Circumcision: A Case Report and Review of.Literature

Background: Necrotizing f.sciitis is a sof. tissue inf.ction that occurs predominantly in adults. Although rare, only 70 cases have been reported in neonates. This entity, most commonly caused by multiple organisms is of.en f.tal, with 50% mortality. The combination of.a low incidence and high mortality in this subgroup strengthens the need f.r early diagnosis, prompt recognition and immediate surgical treatment in order to improve survival. Aim: The aim of.this case report is to bring awareness of.a clinical condition that relies mostly on physical examination and where early diagnosis and immediate surgical treatment are needed in order to improve survival. Case presentation: We report the case of.an 8-day-old boy presenting neonatal necrotizing f.sciitis af.er circumcision. Patient presented with lower back erythema and areas of.f.uctuation. He was started on antibiotic therapy and 24 hours af.er admission, he was taken to the operating room f.r multiple f.sciotomies, debridement and cleansing of.af.ected areas. f.ndings were consistent with necrotizing f.sciitis. Af.er surgical intervention, local care was given until complete healing was achieved, approximately one month af.er admission. Conclusion: The surgeon must be attentive f.r the possible occurrence of.this lethal inf.ction that may develop post operatively af.er clean or clean-contaminated procedures. Preparation f.r treating these patients immediately with adequate f.uid resuscitation, appropriate antibiotics and aggressive surgical debridement of.non-viable tissue will provide the maximal potential f.r recovery. These prompt measures will of.er the best chance f.r survival and eventually decrease the 50% mortality rate associated to the neonatal population.

Bef.re the emergence of.modern modes of.transport, the traditional road inf.a structure was the major historical means of.carrying out nationwide socioeconomic exchange However, the history of.transport inf.astructure has received little attention f.om researchers. Given this background, the work reported here examined the longterm development of.transport networks in China. The national road network was selected f.r study and the 3500 years f.om 1600 BC to 1900 AD was chosen as the study period. Indicators were designed f.r the maturity level of.road networks and an accessibility model was developed f.r the paths of.the shortest distance. The evolution of.the road network in China since the Shang Dynasty （1600 BC） was described and its major f.atures were summarized to reveal longterm regu larities. The maturity level of.the road network and its accessibility was assessed and regions with good and poor networks were identif.ed. The relationship between China＇s natural, social and economic systems and the road network were discussed. Our analysis shows that the road network in China has a number of.longterm regularities. The continuously expanding road network f.llows a path of.inland expansion especially towards the border areas. How ever, its coverage and accessibility are characterized by a coreperipheral conf.guration, which has close relationships with, not only the natural conditions, but also national def.nse and warf.re. The centralization of.national power, national land governance, postal transport, the transport of.specialized cargos, and international trade are also related to the develop ment of.the road network. This research draws attention to the evolving regularities of.trans port networks.

This paper presents a new programming paradigm named Notif.cation Oriented Paradigm (NOP) and analyses perf.rmance aspects of.NOP programs by means of.an experiment. NOP provides a new manner to conceive, structure, and execute sof.ware, which allows better perf.rmance, causal-knowledge organization, and entity decoupling than standard solutions based upon current paradigms. These paradigms are essentially Imperative Paradigm (IP) and Declarative Paradigm (DP). In short, DP solutions are considered easier to use than IP solutions thanks to the concept of.high-level programming. However, they are considered slower to execute and lesser f.exible to program than IP. Anyway, both paradigms present similar drawbacks like causal-evaluation redundancies and strongly coupled entities, which decrease sof.ware perf.rmance and processing distribution f.asibility. These problems exist due to an orientation to monolithic inf.rence mechanism based upon sequential evaluation by means of.searches over passive computational entities. NOP proposes another manner to structure sof.ware and make its inf.rences, which is based upon small, smart, and decoupled collaborative entities whose interaction happen by means of.precise notif.cations. This paper discusses NOP as a paradigm and presents certain comparison of.NOP against IP. Actually, perf.rmance is evaluated by means of.IP and NOP programs with respect to a same application, which allow demonstrating NOP superiority.

Ultrasound-Guided Central Venous Catheterization: A Protocol to Be f.llowed in Pediatrics?

Objective: To investigate the ef.ectiveness of.ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization when compared to the conventional procedure. Method: A prospective cohort study was carried out over a 9-month period f.om f.bruary to October 2016 involving 144 inpatients at PICU of.Irmandade da Santa Casa de Sao Paulo Hospital, undergoing central venous catheterization. The patients were matched in pairs of.identical patients according to the levels of.potentially intervening variables (age, nutritional status, puncture site, prof.ssional experience), dif.ering only as to the CVC technique: ultrasound-guided (USG-CVC) or conventional (C-CVC). Discarding data f.om non-paired patients, the remaining did f.rming 47 pairs, matched as two related samples: USG-CVC and C-CVC groups. Success parameters: number of.puncture attempts;time spent at CVC;success rate and complications. Results: In the USG-CVC group, the number of.attempts (mean = 2.04) and the time spent at catheterization (mean = 11.89 minutes) were lower (t = 2.34, df.= 46, t 0.95 = 2.02, p t = 3.07, df.= 46, t 0.95 = 2.02, p f.r the control group (C-GVC), (mean = 3.21) and (mean = 28.26 minutes), respectively. As to success, there was observed a signif.cant dif.erence (f.(1, 46) = 16.6;Q (1) = 12.5, p f.cant dif.erence (f.(1, 46) = 3.76;Q (1) = 3.56, p > 0.05) when considering several attempts. Complications were f.und less f.equently in the USG-CVC group (3/47) than in the CVC-C (13/47), (f.(1, 46) = 8.24;Q (1) = 7.14, p f.und to be more ef.ective than the conventional technique, especially regarding success at the f.rst puncture attempt.
