Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets play a crucial role in energy conversion and electronic *** essential magnetic properties of Nd-Fe-B magnets,particularly coercivity and remanent magnetization,are significantly infuenced by the phase characteristics and *** this work,Nd-Fe-B magnets were manufactured using vacuum induction melting(VIM),laser directed energy deposition(LDED)and laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)*** evolution and phase selection of Nd-Fe-B magnets were then clarified in *** results indicated that the solidification velocity(V)and cooling rate(R)are key factors in the phase *** terms of the VIM-casting Nd-Fe-B magnet,a large volume fraction of theα-Fe soft magnetic phase(39.7 vol.%)and Nd2Fe17Bxmetastable phase(34.7 vol.%)areformed due to the low R(2.3×10-1?c s-1),whereas only a minor fraction of the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase(5.15 vol.%)is *** the LDED-processed Nd-Fe-B deposit,although the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase also had a low value(3.4 vol.%)as the values of V(c s-1)increased,part of theα-Fe soft magnetic phase(31.7vol.%)is suppressed,and a higher volume of Nd2Fe17Bxmetastable phases(47.5 vol.%)*** a result,both the VIM-casting and LDED-processed Nd-Fe-B deposits exhibited poor magnetic *** contrast,employing the high values of V(>10-2m s-1)and R(1.45×106?c s-1)in the LPBF process resulted in the substantial formation of the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase(55.8 vol.%)directly from the liquid,while theα-Fe soft magnetic phase and Nd2Fe17Bxmetastable phase precipitation are suppressed in the LPBF-processed Nd-Fe-B ***,crystallographic texture analysis reveals that the LPBF-processedNd-Fe-B magnets exhibit isotropic magnetic ***,the LPBF-processed Nd-Fe-B deposit,exhibiting a coercivity of 656 k A m-1,remanence of 0.79 T and maximum energy product of 71.5 k J m-3,achieved an acceptable magnetic perfor

Mechanical properties and deformation behavior of Zr-based bulk metallic glass composites reinforced with tungsten fibers or tungsten powders

The tungsten fibers or powders reinforced Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10),(Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10))_(98)Nb_(2),and(Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10))_(98)Be_(2)bulk metallic glass composites(BMGcs)were fabricated using the infiltration casting *** this study,the wettability between the amorphous alloy melts and tungsten substrates was investigated using the sessile drop method,revealing excellent wettability at 1,010℃.consequently,an infiltration temperature of 1,010°c was chosen for composite material *** characterization and mechanical property test of both composites were conducted through scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD),and universal mechanical *** tungsten fiber or tungsten powder reinforced Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10)and(Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10))_(98)Be_(2)composites exhibit the formation of W-Zr *** contrast,the tungsten fiber or tungsten powder reinforced(Zr_(52)cu_(32)Ni_(6)Al_(10))_(98)Nb_(2)composites does not show the formation of W-Zr phase.X-ray diffraction patterns confirm the presence of W reinforcement phases in both *** successful fabrication of both composites is evidenced by their remarkable mechanical properties under room temperature *** yield strength of all the three tungsten fiber-reinforced composite sample exceeds 2,400 MPa,with the plastic strain exceeding 3.9%,while the yield strength of all the three tungsten powder-reinforced composite sample surpasses 2,700 MPa,with the plastic strain exceeding 30%.Fracture analysis reveals longitudinal splitting in the tungsten fiber-reinforced composites,contrasting with brittle fracture in the tungsten powder-reinforced *** denser the shear bands on the amorphous matrix of the two types of composite materials,the better their mechanical properties.

Enhanced electrochemical performance of li_(1.3)Al_(0.3)Ti_(1.7)(PO_(4))_(3) solid electrolyte by anion doping

Nowadays,the majority of the studies on the substitution are focused on cations(such as Y^(3+),Ti^(4+),P^(5+),etc.)in li_(1.3)Al_(0.3)Ti_(1.7)(PO_(4))_(3)(LATP),while there are few studies on the substitution of anion O^(2-).In this work,the modified LATP with a series of licl(LATPclx,x=0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4)additives is prepared to enhance ionic *** successful introduction of cl-makes the length of the c axis decrease from 20.822(2)to 20.792(1)Å,and the bulk conductivity of 2.13×10^(-3) S·cm^(-1) is achieved in LATPcl_(0.3).Moreover,the Al/Ti-O1/cl1 and Al/Ti-O_(2)/cl_(2) distance decrease,while the li1-O_(2)/cl_(2) distance *** ions migrate more easily in the nanochannel of *** addition,the licl additive increases the relative density and the grain boundary conductivity of LATPclx ***,a higher ionic conductivity of 2.12×10^(–4) S·cm^(-1) and a low activation energy of 0.30 eV are obtained in LATPcl_(0.3).correspondingly,the symmetric cell exhibits a low overpotential of±50 mV for over 200 h in LATPcl_(0.3).The solid-state li|LATPcl_(0.3)|NcM811(NcM811=liNi0.8co0.1Mn0.1O_(2))battery exhibits high initial capacity 185.1 mAh·g^(-1) with a capacity retention rate of 95.4%after 100 cycles at 0.5 *** result suggests that licl additive is an effective strategy to promote electrochemical properties of LATP solid electrolyte and can be considered for reference to other inorganic solid electrolytes systems.

Open-cell mullite ceramic foams derived from porous geopolymer precursors with tailored porosity

Porous geopolymer precursors were firstly prepared by the direct foaming method using bauxite,fly ash(FA),and metakaolin(MK)as raw materials,and porous mullite ceramics were prepared after ammonium ion exchange and then high-temperature *** effects of chemical foaming agent concentration,ion-exchange time,and sintering temperature on porous geopolymerderived mullite ceramics were studied,and the optimal preparation parameters were *** have shown that the concentration of blowing agent had great influence on open porosity(q)and porosity and cell size distributions of geopolymer samples,which in turn affected their compressive strength(σ).Duration of the ion exchange had no obvious effect on the sintered samples,and the amount of mullite phase increased with the increase in the sintering *** foams,possessing an open-celled porous structure,closely resembling that of the starting porous geopolymers produced by directly foaming,were obtained by firing at high *** mullite(3Al_(2)O_(3)·2SiO_(2))ceramic foams with total porosity(ε)of 83.52 vol%,high open porosity of 83.23 vol%,and compressive strength of 1.72 MPa were produced after sintering at 1400 for 2 h in℃ air without adding any sintering additives using commercial MK,bauxite,and FA as raw materials.

Alkali-activated cement(AAc)is either clinker-less or free,and it is also environmentally friendly due to its low carbon footprint and wide range *** wastes,like steel slag and blastfurnace slag,usually have latent hydraulic reactivity,and can be used as precursors of *** clinkerless and clinker-free AAc were prepared from the mixture of steel slag and blastfurnace slag by using water glass as an activator,and four different recipes which satisfied the strength requirement of 42.5R Portland cement were *** recipe of AAc exhibited better resistance to sulfate attack and frost attack than Portland *** showed huge drying shrinkage,but it was equivalent to that of Portland cement as steel slag content increased to 40%.The AAc also had quite low risk of alkali-aggregate *** analysis showed that the major products were calcium silicate hydrate(c–S–H),calcium aluminosilicate hydrate(c–A–S–H)and zeolite-like *** was also detected in the binder when gypsum was contained in the precursors.

Double q-switched 946 nm laser with MgO：LN electro-optic crystal and MoSe2 saturable absorber

We report a double q-switched 946 nm laser with a magnesium-oxide-doped liNbO3 （MgO：LN） electro-optic （EO） crystal and a monolayer molybdenum diselenide （MoSe2） saturable absorber （SA）. A pulsed laser diode side-pumped long neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet rod （φ3×65 mm） is used as the gain medium. Large pulse energy up to 3.15 mJ and peak power up to 346 kW are generated at the repetition rate of 550 Hz, corresponding to the beam quality factors of Mx^2=3.849, My^2=3.868. Monolayer MoSe2 nanosheets applied in the experiment would be a promising SA for a passive q-switching operation.

Infrared Absorption cut-Off of Molecular Nonlinear Optical crystals: Theoretical Studies on Vibrational Spectra of MDNB, Urea and MNA Molecules

A theoretical model has been set up for evaluating the infrared absorption cut-off (λIR) of molecular nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals on the basis of calculated molecular infrared vibrational spectra. This model is applied to meta-dinitrobenzene (MDNB), urea, and 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA) crystals. The λIR values for MDNB and urea crystals are predicted to be 2.0 and 1.37μm, respectivelx which are in good agreement with experimental measurements. Although the λIR of MNA is experimentally unknown yet, we predict it to be 1.50μm. The theoretical analysis indicates that, while the λIR of MDNB arises from asymmetric torsion of N-O in the molecule, those of urea and MNA arise from symmetric N-H stretch and c-H stretch, respectively. These results should be helpful for the molecular design of novel infrared NLO crystals.

Study of ciprofloxacin removal by biochar obtained from used tea leaves

In this study, used tea leaves （UTLs） were pyrolyzed to obtain used tea-leaf biochar （UTc）, and then the UTc was used as an adsorbent to remove ciprofioxacin （cIP） from aqueous solutions. Batch experiments were conducted to investigate the cIP adsorption performance and mechanism. The results showed that the cIP-adsorbing ability first increased and then declined as the UTc pyrolysis temperature increased. The UTc obtained at 450℃ presented excellent cIP-absorbing ability at pH 6 and 40℃. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacity was 238.10 mg/g based on the Langrnuir isotherm model. The pseudo-second-order kinetic equation agreed well with the cIP adsorption process, which was controlled by both external boundary layer diffusion and intra-particle diffusion. The characterization analysis revealed that the - OH groups, G=c bonds of aromatic rings, c- H groups in aromatic tings and phenolic c - O bonds play vital roles in the cIP adsorption process, and that the N - c, N - O, O- c-O and c- OH groups of UTc were consumed in large quantities. π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding and electrostatic attraction are inferred as the main adsorption mechanisms. The present work provides not only a feasible and promising approach for UTLs utilization but also a potential adsorbent material for removing high concentrations of cIP from aqueous solutions.
