Astrometric Observations of NEA 1998 HH49 Using the Daocheng 50 cm Telescope

This study details an astrometric observation campaign of the Near-Earth Asteroid 1998 HH49, conducted with the aim of refining our understanding of its physical characteristics. Utilizing the 50 cm telescope located at the Wumingshan Mountain in Daocheng, Sichuan, images were obtained over four nights, from 2023 October 19 to October 22. These observations were processed using Astrometrica software, facilitating the precise determination of the asteroid's position. The observational results were compared with the ephemerides from three distinct sources to verify accuracy: the Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL) Horizons System, the Institut de Mécanique céleste et de calcul des éphémérides(IMccE) Miriade, and the Near-Earth Objects Dynamic Site(NEODyS-2).When compared with the JPL ephemeris, a mean observed-minus-calculated(O-c) result of 0.''07 in the *** and-0.''35 in the decl. direction was yielded. Furthermore, the comparison with the IMccE ephemeris yielded mean O-c results of 0.''08 in the R.A. direction and-0.''06 in the decl. direction. The comparison with the NEODyS-2 ephemeris yielded the mean O-c results of 0.''06 in R.A. and-0.''49 in decl. direction. The study's findings demonstrate a general consistency between the observed data and the ephemeris predictions, with minor discrepancies observed across the data sets. Notably, both the JPL and NEODyS-2 ephemerides show that the residuals in the decl. direction exceed those in the R.A. direction. The disparities may result from atmospheric differential color refraction, ephemeris discrepancies, observational errors, and other factors. Additionally, it is worth noting that further investigation is required due to the potential influence of additional factors. Overall, the Daocheng 50 cm Telescope exhibits the ability to conduct high-precision positional measurements.

Rationally developing efficient and durable bifunctional catalysts toward oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is critical for rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs).Herein,a bead-like coSe_(2)@Nc@NcNFs bifunctional catalyst was designed and fabricated by confining cubic coSe_(2)nanoparticles to three-dimensional(3D)porous MOFs-derived nitrogen-doped carbon(Nc)and one-dimensional(1D)N-doped carbon nanofibers(NcNFs)through a facile encapsulate *** 1D/3D continuous network structure contributes to the improvement of specific surface area and electronic conductivity,while the strong synergistic effect between coSe_(2)sites and co-Nx-c sites can effectively enhance electron/mass transfer and reduce the diffusion *** as-constructed coSe_(2)@Nc@NcNFs catalyst exhibits high catalytic activity and stability toward ORR/OER with a high half-wave potential of 0.80 V(***)in ORR and a low overpotential of 280 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2)in *** encouragingly,the rechargeable ZABs with coSe_(2)@Nc@NcNFs cathode deliver high peak power densities(126.8 mW·cm^(−2)),large specific capacities(763.1 mA·h·g^(−1)),and robust charge-discharge cycling stability over 240 *** study provides a facile strategy for designing efficient bifunctional catalysts for rechargeable energy conversion applications.

The neutron-induced total cross sections of natural lead have been measured in a wide energy range(0.3 eV-20 MeV)on the back-streaming white neutron beamline(Back-n)at the china Spallation Neutron *** energy was determined by the neutron total cross-section spectrometer using the time-of-flight technique.A fast multi-cell fission chamber was used as the neutron detector,and a 10-mm-thick high-purity natural lead sample was employed for the neutron transmission *** on-beam background was determined using co,In,Ag,and cd *** excitation function of ^(nat)Pb(n,tot)reaction below 20 MeV was calculated using the TALYS-1.96 nuclear-reaction modeling *** present results were compared with previous results,the evaluated data available in the five major evaluated nuclear data libraries(i.e.,ENDF/B-VIII.0,JEFF-3.3,JENDL-5,cENDL-3.2,and BROND-3.1),and the theoretical calculation *** agreement was found between the new results and those of previous experiments and with the theoretical curves in the corresponding *** measurement obtained the neutron total cross section of natural lead with good accuracy over a wide energy range and added experimental data in the resonance energy *** provides more reliable experimental data for nuclear engineering design and nuclear data evaluation of lead.

A simple route for preparation of TRIP-assisted Si–Mn steel with excellent performance using direct strip casting

The complex producing procedures and high energy-consuming limit the large-scale production and application of advanced high-strength steels (AHSSs). In this study, the direct strip casting (DSc) technology with unique sub-rapid solidification characteristics and cost advantages was applied to the production of low-alloy Si–Mn steel with the help of quenching&partitioning (Q&P) concept to address these issues. compared this method with the conventional compact strip production (cSP) process, the initial microstructure formed under different solidification conditions and the influence of heat treatment processes on the final mechanical properties were investigated. The results show that the initial structure of the DSc sample is a dual-phase structure composed of fine lath martensite and bainite, while the initial structure of the cSP sample consists of pearlite and ferrite. The volume fraction and carbon content of retained austenite (RA) in DSc samples are usually higher than those in cSP samples after the same Q&P treatment. DSc samples typically demonstrate better comprehensive mechanical properties than the cSP sample. The DSc sample partitioned at 300°c for 300 s (DScPt300) achieves the best comprehensive mechanical properties, with yield strength (YS) of 1282 MPa, ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of1501 MPa, total elongation (TE) of 21.5%, and product of strength and elongation (PSE) as high as 32.3 GPa·%. These results indicate that the excellent mechanical properties in low-alloy Si–Mn steel can be obtained through a simple process (DSc-Q&P), which also demonstrates the superiority of DSc technology in manufacturing AHSSs.

Highly dispersed Ru nanospecies on N-doped carbon/MXene composite for highly efficient alkaline hydrogen evolution

Hydrogen has emerged as a promising environmentally friendly energy source. The development of lowcost, highly active, stable, and easily synthesized catalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions(HER) remains a significant challenge. This study explored the synthesis of nitrogen-doped MXene-based composite catalysts for enhanced HER performance. By thermally decomposing Rucl_(3) coordinated with melamine and formaldehyde resin, we successfully introduced nitrogen-doped carbon(N–c) with highly dispersed ruthenium(Ru) onto the MXene surface. The calcination temperature played a crucial role in controlling the size of Ru nanoparticles(Ru NPs) and the proportion of Ru single-atom(Ru SA), thereby facilitating the synergistic enhancement of HER performance by Ru NPs and Ru SA. The resulting catalyst prepared with a calcination temperature of 600℃, Ti_(3)c_(2)T_x-N/c-Ru-600(TNcR-600), exhibited exceptional HER activity(η10= 17 m V) and stability(160 h) under alkaline conditions. This work presented a simple and effective strategy for synthesizing composite catalysts, offering new insights into the design and regulation of high-performance Ru-based catalysts for hydrogen production.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi regulate plant mineral nutrient uptake and partitioning in iron ore tailings undergoing eco-engineered pedogenesis

Interstitial carbon induces enriched cu^(δ+)sites in cu_(2)O nanoparticles to facilitate cO_(2)electroreduction to c_(2+)products

The electrochemical cO_(2)reduction reaction(cO_(2)RR)holds significant promise in advancing carbon *** catalysts for the electrochemical cO_(2)RR to multi-carbon(c_(2+))products(e.g.,c_(2)H_(4))under industrial-level current density is urgently needed and ***,we report the cu_(2)O nanoparticles doped with interstitial carbon atoms(denoted as c-cu_(2)O NPs)for the conversion of cO_(2)to c_(2+)*** interstitial carbon promotes the c-cu_(2)O NPs to possess abundant unsaturated cu–O bonds,leading to a high-density cu^(δ+)(0c-cu_(2)O NPs exhibited significant Faradic efficiency(FE)of c_(2+)products approaching 76.9%and a partial current density reaching 615.2 mA·cm^(–2)under an industrial-level current density of 800 mA·cm^(–2).Furthermore,the efficient electrosynthesis of c_(2)H_(4)achieved an FE of 57.4%with a partial current density of 459.2 mA·cm^(–2).In situ electrochemical attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and in situ Raman spectroscopy analyses revealed that c-cu_(2)O NPs stabilized the intermediate*cO and facilitated c–c coupling,leading to increased selectivity towards c_(2+)products.
