Thermoset based composites are used increasingly in industry for light weight applications, mainly for aircraft, windmills and for automobiles. Fiber reinforced thermoset polymers show a number of advantages over conventional materials, like metals, especially their better performance regarding their strength-to-weight ratio. However, composite recycling is a big issue, as there are almost no established recycling methods. The authors investigate the recyclability of polycyanurate homo- and copolymers with different recycling agents under different conditions. Also the influence of the recycling process on the most important reinforcement fibers, i.e. carbon-, glass-, aramid-, and natural-fiber is investigated. The authors find that: the recycling speed is not only dependent on the temperature, but also is significantly influenced by the particular recycling agents and the polycyanurate formulation. Hence, the stability against the recycling media can be adjusted over a broad range by adjusting the polymer composition. Furthermore, the authors find that the inorganic reinforcement fibers (carbon and glass) are almost unaffected by neither recycling agent at either temperature. Aramid-fibers degrade, depending on the particular recycling agent, from slightly up to extremely strong. This leaves one with the possibility to find a combination of matrix resin and recycling agent, which does not affect the aramid-fiber significantly. In the case of natural fibers, the dependence on the particular recycling media is very strong: some media do not affect the fiber significantly;others reduce the mechanical properties (tensile strength and elongation at break) significantly, and still others even improve both mechanical properties strongly. From the Recyclate, the authors synthesize and subsequently characterize a number of new polyurethane thermosets (foamed and solid samples) with different contents of recyclate, exhibiting Tg in the range of 60°c to 128°c.

Obtaining nutritious food is becoming increasingly difficult due to the growing urban population and the degradation of soil, water, and air from mechanized and industrialized agricultural techniques. More than half the global population resides in urban areas, with not enough surrounding agricultural land to meet food requirements. Food traveling long distances, an average of 1020 miles, has resulted in increased food miles for the average food item in the United States of America, representing wasted resources. The novel GREENBOX technology was invented in response to increasing pressures on food security. Previous studies conducted on GREENBOX technology assessed the technical feasibility of utilizing Lettuce Lactuca sativa ‘Rex Butterhead’. we at the APS Laboratory for Sustainable Food at Florida Gulf coast University assessed the technical feasibility of growing different leafy green vegetable crops. GREENBOX technology consists of thermally insulated climate-controlled enclosures, an artificial lighting source, a soilless cultivation method (hydroponics), and environmental control modules. we assembled two GREENBOX units to assess the environmental conditions and growth performance of Brassica rapa var. chinensis ‘Li Ren choi’, Spinach Spinacia oleracea ‘Auroch’, Arugula Eruca sativa ‘Astro’, and Mizuna Brassica Brassica rapa var. japonica. Plugs were cultivated and then transplanted in a randomized manner to the nutrient film technique (NFT) channels, subsequently grown for 30 days to full bloom and ready for harvest. Fertigation was carried out using a standard concentration nutrient solution. crops were arranged in twelve blocks of four species each. we collected environmental data including daily light integral (DLI, mol/m2∙d), temperature (˚c), relative humidity (%), and vapor pressure deficit (VPD, kPa). collected biomass data included wet weight (g), dry weight (g), leaf area (cm2), and chlorophyll concentration (mg/cm2)

with the rising pressures on food security, GREENBOX technology was developed as an avenue for fresh leafy vegetable crop production in urban settings. GREENBOX units were designed to be thermally insulated and climate controlled, with an artificial lighting source that utilized soilless cultivation techniques. Previous studies conducted on GREENBOX technology used the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT);however, various hydroponic methods exist, such as the Deep-water culture (Dwc) method being the most used. The APS Laboratory for Sustainable Food at Florida Gulf coast University (FGcU) compared the crop growth performance between Dwc and NFT systems using GREENBOX technology. The following study monitored environmental conditions and compared productivity and biomass data of Rex Butterhead Lettuce crops between Dwc and NFT systems. we assembled two GREENBOX units using commercially available materials and the standard nutrient solution for fertigation. The crops grown in Dwc and NFT were in a 4 × 6 configuration. The Dwc and NFT systems were used to grow Lettuce Lactuca sativa “Rex Butterhead” over 30 days to full bloom from prepared plugs grown for 14 days. we collected environmental data including Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density (PPFD, μmol/m2∙s), Daily Light Integral (DLI, mol/ m2∙d), temperature (˚c), relative humidity (%), and Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD, kPa). we collected lettuce crop growth data, which included wet weight (g), dry weight (g), leaf area (cm2), and chlorophyll concentration (μmol/m2). we derived data, including the Specific Leaf Area (SLA, cm2/g) and biomass productivity (kg/m2), from previously collected data. we used descriptive statistics to present the collected data. A paired t-test was performed to understand the differences in biomass and productivity parameters between the Dwc and NFT-grown lettuce crops. AIM:To study the role of advanced glycation end products(AGE)and their specifi c receptor(RAGE)in the pathogenesis of liver fi ***:In vitro RAGE expression and extracellular matrix-related gene expression in both rat and human hepatic stellate cells(HSc.w.re measured after stimulation with the two RAGE ligands,advanced glycation end product-bovine serum albumin(AGE-BSA)and Nε-(carboxymethyl)lysine(cML)-BSA,or with tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).In vivo RAGE expression was examined in models of hepatic fi brosis induced by bile duct ligation or *** effects of AGE-BSA and cML-BSA on HSc proliferation,signal transduction and profi brogenic gene expression were studied in ***:In hepatic fibrosis,RAGE expression was enhanced in activated HSc,and also in endothelial cells,inflammatory cells and activated bile duct *** expressed RAGE which was upregulated after stimulation with AGE-BSA,cML-BSA,and TNF-α.RAGE stimulation with AGE-BSA and cML-BSA did not alter HSc proliferation,apoptosis,fibrogenic signal transduction and fibrosis-or fibrolysis-related gene expression,except for marginal upregulation of procollagen α1(Ⅰ)mRNA by ***:Despite upregulation of RAGE in activated HSc,RAGE stimulation by AGE does not alter their fibrogenic ***,RAGE does not contribute directly to hepatic fibrogenesis.

高血压患者的血压变异性(BPV)增大导致终末期靶器官损害。BPV增大与自主神经功能的改变(包括交感神经过度兴奋)相关。该研究假设经导管射频消融去肾交感神经支配术(RDN)对BPV有较好的效果。连续收治的难治性高血压患者11例进行双侧RDN,年龄(68.9±7.0)岁,在平均服用(5.6±2.2)种降压药的情况下,基线收缩压为(189±23)mmHg。RDN前和6月后进行24h动态血压监测(ABPM)。评估BPV的主要指标为24h收缩压标准差(SDsys)的平均值、次要指标为最大收缩压(MAXsys)和24h内连续两次收缩压读数的最大差值(Δmaxsys)。RDN6月后,在服用相同降压药的情况下,SDsys[(13.5±2.5)比(16.9±4.6)mmHg,P=0.003],MAXsys[(172±20)比(190±22)mmHg,P<0.01]和Δmaxsys[(28±7)比(40±15)mmHg,P=0.006]均明显降低。11例患者中有10例SDsys(90.9%),11例MAXsys(100%)和9例Δmaxsys(81.8%)降低。RDN6月后,诊室收缩压明显降低[(30.4±27.7)mmHg,P=0.007]。在难治性高血压患者中,RDN明显降低BPV。与对平均血压的影响比较,RDN对BPV的影响更明显。
