Due to the characteristic emission of phosphors,phosphor-converted LEDs have been employed to provide the requisite light sources for indoor plant growth in the optical agricultural ***,we prepared a series of Mn^(2+)co-doped NaSrB5 O9:Dy^(3+)phosphors via a solid-state reaction *** phosphors have significant three-band emissions at 467 nm(blue region),606 nm(orange region),and765 nm(far-red region),ascribed to the^(4)F_(9/2)-^(6)H_(15/2)and 4 F9/2-6 H13/2 transitions of the Dy^(3+)ions and the^(4)T_(1g)(G)-^(6)A_(1g)(S)spin-forbidden transition of the Mn^(2+)ions,respectively,when excited by light of 376 nm(near-UV region).The co-dopant in the host material facilitates tunable photoluminescence(PL)due to energy transfer from the Dy^(3+)ions to the Mn^(2+)*** three emission peaks from the prepared phosphors well match with the absorption spectra of the photosynthesis pigments of plants,chlorophyll and phytochrome,which can absorb blue(400-500 nm),orange-red(550-700 nm),and infrared(IR)radiation,indicating that these phosphors have potential applications in the fabrication of plant-growth *** to the PL studies,the structure of the phosphors was determined by X-ray diffraction,refined by Rietveld method and chemically quantified by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Here we demonstrate the fabrication, electrochemical performance and application of an asymmetric supercapacitor (AS) device constructed with ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWcNTs as positive electrode and KOH activated honeycomb-like porous carbon (K-Pc) derived from banana fibers as negative electrode. Initially, the electrochemical performance of hydrothermally synthesized ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWcNTs nanocomposite and K-Pc was studied in a three-electrode system using 1 M KOH. These materials exhibited a specific capacitance (cs) of 1327 Fig and 324 F/g respectively at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. Further, the AS device i.e., ss-Ni(OH)(2)/MWcNTs// K-Pc in 1 M KOH solution, demonstrated a cs of 156 F/g at scan rate of 10 mV/s in a broad cell voltage of 0-2.2 V. The device demonstrated a good rate capability by maintaining a cs of 59 F/g even at high current density (25 A/g). The device also offered high energy density of 63 Wh/kg with maximum power density of 5.2 kW/kg. The AS device exhibited excellent cycle life with 100% capacitance retention at 5000th cycle at a high current density of 25 A/g. Two AS devices connected in series were employed for powering a pair of LEDs of different colors and also a mini fan. Tropical forests have been recognized as having global conservation importance. However,they are being rapidly destroyed in many regions of the world. Regular monitoring of forests is necessary for an adaptive management approach and the successful implementation of ecosystem management. The present study analyses the temporal changes in forest ecosystem structure in tribal dominated Malkangiri district of Orissa,India,during 1973-2004 period based on digitized forest cover maps using geographic information system （GIS） and interpretation of satellite data. Three satellite images Landsat MSS （1973）,Landsat TM （1990） and IRS P6 LISS III （2004） were used to determine changes. Six land cover types were delineated which includes dense forest,open forest,scrub land,agriculture,barren land and water body. Different forest types were also demarcated within forest class for better understanding the degradation pattern in each forest types. The results showed that there was a net decrease of 475.7 km2 forest cover （rate of deforestation = 2.34） from 1973 to 1990 and 402.3 km2 （rate of deforestation = 2.27） from 1990 to 2004. Forest cover has changed over time depending on a few factors such as large-scale deforestation,shifting cultivation,dam and road construction,unregulated management actions,and social pressure. A significant increase of 1222.8 km2 agriculture area （1973-2004） clearly indicated the conversion of forest cover to agricultural land. These alterations had resulted in significant environmental consequences,including decline in forest cover,soil erosion,and loss of biodiversity. There is an urgent need for rational management of the remaining forest for it to be able to survive beyond next decades. Particular attention must be paid to tropical forests,which are rapidly being deforested.

Effect of organo-modified montmorillonite nanoclay on mechanical,thermal and ablation behavior of carbon fiber/phenolic resin composites

The mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of carbon phenolic(c-Ph)composites(Type-I)reinforced with different weight percentages of organo-modified montmorillonite(o-MMT)nanoclay have been studied *** milling was used to disperse different weight(wt)percentages(0,1,2,4,6 wt.%)of nanoclay into phenolic *** changes to resin due to nanoclay was *** the other hand,nanoclay added phenolic matrix composites(Type-II)were prepared to study the dispersion of nanoclay in phenolic matrix by small angle X-ray scattering and thermal stability changes to the matrix by thermogravimetric analyser(TGA).This data was used to understand the mechanical,thermal and ablation properties of Type-I *** laminar shear strength(ILSS),flexural strength and flexural modulus of Type I composites increased by about 29%,12%and 7%respectively at2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which these properties *** was attributed to reduced fiber volume fraction(%Vf)of Type-I composites due to nanoclay addition at such high *** ablation rate of Type-I composites was evaluated using oxy acetylene torch test at low heat flux(125 W/cm^(2))and high heat flux levels(500 W/cm^(2)).Mass ablation rates have increased at both flux levels marginally up to 2 wt.%addition of nanoclay beyond which it has increased *** is in contrast to increased thermal stability observed for Type-I and Type-II composites up to 2 wt.%addition of *** ablation rates due to nanoclay addition was attributed to higher insulation efficiency of nanolcay,which accumulates more heat energy in limited area behind the ablation front and self-propagating ablation mechanisms triggered by thermal decomposition of organic part of nanoclay.

This study reports major, trace, rare earth and platinum group element compositions of lava flows from the Vempalle Formation of cuddapah Basin through an integrated petrological and geochemical approach to address mantle conditions, magma generation processes and tectonic regimes involved in their formation. Six flows have been identified on the basis of morphological features and systematic three-tier arrangement of vesicular-entablature-colonnade zones. Petrographically, the studied flows are porphyritic basalts with plagioclase and clinopyroxene representing dominant phenocrystal *** and trace element characteristics reflect moderate magmatic differentiation and fractional crystallization of tholeiitic magmas. chondrite-normalized REE patterns corroborate pronounced LREE/HREE fractionation with LREE enrichment over MREE and HREE. Primitive mantle normalized trace element abundances are marked by LILE-LREE enrichment with relative HFSE depletion collectively conforming to intraplate magmatism with contributions from sub-continental lithospheric mantle(ScLM) and extensive melt-crust interaction. PGE compositions of Vempalle lavas attest to early sulphur-saturated nature of magmas with pronounced sulphide fractionation, while PPGE enrichment over IPGE and higher Pd/Ir ratios accord to the role of a metasomatized lithospheric mantle in the genesis of the lava flows. HFSEREE-PGE systematics invoke heterogeneous mantle sources comprising depleted asthenospheric MORB type components combined with plume type melts. HFSE-REE variations account for polybaric melting at variable depths ranging from garnet to spinel lherzolite compositional domains of mantle. Intraplate tectonic setting for the Vempalle flows with P-MORB affinity is further substantiated by(i) their origin from a rising mantle plume trapping depleted asthenospheric MORB mantle during ascent,(ii) interaction between plume-derived melts and ScLM,(iii) their rift-controlled intrabasinal emplacement th

AIM:To analyse the changes in magnitude and orientation of astigmatism after suture removal(SR)in keratoplasty eyes as measured by refraction,tomography,and ***:Twenty-six eyes of 25 patients after optical keratoplasty requiring SR to reduce the astigmatism during the follow-up period were prospectively *** with poor quality topography scans or if there were no sutures in the steepest semi meridian were *** distance visual acuity(cDVA),manifest refraction,corneal tomography and aberrometr y were per formed on all patients before and after ***:The mean age of the patients was 40.8±14.4 *** keratoplasty was performed in 23 eyes(89%)and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty was done in 3 eyes(11%).There was a statistically significant reduction in the magnitude of refractive,tomographic and aberrometry astigmatism after SR(Pction of the astigmatism was greater as measured by corneal tomography compared to refractive astigmatism(Pcally significant change in refractive astigmatism between 2 h and 2 mo after SR(P=0.55).Vector calculations demonstrated a greater amount of undercorrection in the tomography group and the rotational error was more towards counterclockwise *** monocular log MAR cDVA improved from 0.57 D to 0.49 D after SR(P=0.002).cONcLUSION:The net reduction in the magnitude of astigmatism after SR is greater in the tomography and aberrometry *** one episode of SR,there is no difference in the aberration profile.
