Present study is a numerical investigation of the flow,heat and mass transfer behaviour of magnetohydrodynamic flow over a vertical rotating cone through porous medium in the presence of thermal radiation,chemical reaction and soret ***,the numerical solutions are elucidated by using Runge-Kutta based shooting *** results are validated with open literature and found an excellent *** influence of non-dimensional governing parameters on velocity,temperature and concentration profiles along with the friction factor,local Nusselt and sherwood numbers are determined and discussed with the help of graphs and *** proved that the variable porosity parameter have tendency to enhance the heat and mass transfer *** increase in the buoyancy parameter depreciates the thermal and concentration boundary layer thicknesses.

This paper presents various approaches used by researchers for handling the uncertainties involved in renewable energy sources, load demands, etc. It gives an idea about stochastic programming (sP) and discusses the formulations given by different researchers for objective functions such as cost, loss, generation expansion, and voltage/V control with various conventional and advanced methods. Besides, it gives a brief idea about sP and its applications and discusses different variants of sP such as recourse model, chance constrained programming, sample average approximation, and risk aversion. Moreover, it includes the application of these variants in various power systems. Furthermore, it also includes the general mathematical form of expression for these variants and discusses the mathematical description of the problem and modeling of the system. This review of different optimization techniques will be helpful for smart grid development including renewable energy resources (RERs).

Herein,we report the magnetic properties of α-MoO3nanofibers synthesized via a hydrothermal method.X-ray photoelectron and Raman spectroscopic studies have been employed to evidence the presence of oxygen vacancy defects in the α-*** elucidate the oxygen vacancy related ferromagnetism,post-thermal annealing in oxygen and vacuum was *** UV emission band of α-MoO3nanofibers reveals a red shift from oxygen annealed to vacuum annealed,indicating a bandedge *** saturation magnetization of oxygen annealed nanofibers decreases while that of vacuum annealed nanofibers *** results strongly confirm that the oxygen vacancies play a significant role in inducing *** origin of ferromagnetism may be due to the exchange interactions among localized electron spin moments resulting from oxygen vacancies of α-*** presence of such defects was further supported by the photoluminescence measurements.

Type II and Ib/c supernovae （sNe II and Ib/c） have made major stellar nu- cleosynthetic contributions to the inventories of stable nuclides during chemical evolu- tion of the Galaxy. A case study is performed here with the help of recently developed numerical simulations of Galactic chemical evolution in the solar neighborhood to un- derstand the contributions of sNe II and Ib/c by comparing the stellar nucleosynthetic yields obtained by two leading groups in this field. These stellar nucleosynthetic yields differ in terms of their treatment of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis. The formu- lation describing Galactic chemical evolution is developed with the recently revised solar metallicity of -0.014. Furthermore, the recent nucleosynthetic yields of stellar models based on the revised solar metallicity are also used. The analysis suggests that it could be difficult to explain, in a self-consistent manner, the various features asso- ciated with the elemental evolutionary trends over Galactic timescales by any single adopted stellar nucleosynthetic model that incorporates sNe II and Ib/c.

Induction hardening of dense Fe–cr/Mo alloys processed via the powder-metallurgy route was studied. The Fe-3cr-0.5Mo, Fe-1.5cr-0.2Mo, and Fe-0.85 Mo pre-alloyed powders were mixed with 0.4wt%, 0.6wt%, and 0.8wt% c and compacted at 500, 600, and 700 MPa, respectively. The compacts were sintered at 1473 K for 1 h and then cooled at 6 K/min. Ferrite with pearlite was mostly observed in the sintered alloys with 0.4wt% c, whereas a carbide network was also present in the alloys with 0.8wt% c. Graphite at prior particle boundaries led to deterioration of the mechanical properties of alloys with 0.8wt% c, whereas no significant induction hardening was achieved in alloys with 0.4wt% c. Among the investigated samples, alloys with 0.6wt% c exhibited the highest strength and ductility and were found to be suitable for induction hardening. The hardening was carried out at a frequency of 2.0 kHz for 2–3 s. A case depth of 2.5 mm was achieved while maintaining the bulk(interior) hardness of approximately HV 230. A martensitic structure was observed on the outer periphery of the samples. The hardness varied from HV 600 to HV 375 from the sample surface to the interior of the case hardened region. The best combination of properties and hardening depth was achieved in case of the Fe-1.5cr-0.2Mo alloy with 0.6wt% c.

Micromechanical and tribological studies of geological materials with a particular focus on their contact-mechanics behavior at the grain scale are currently a major interest in the engineering and geoscience disciplines. In this study, a new robust micromechanical apparatus developed at the city University of Hong Kong is described;it is capable of conducting inter-granule(or inter-particle) loading tests on fine gravel to ballast-sized materials of sizes as small as 5-10 mm to granules(or ballast) as big as 50 mm. The focus of our study is the description of the major technical features of the new apparatus and its performance and repeatability in conducting experiments on reference grains of chrome steel balls and glass balls;in addition, we conducted a preliminary set of experiments on crushed granitic rock, which is a material widely used in geotechnical and transportation infrastructure. The representative results of these experiments are presented in terms of the normal force-displacement relationship, friction, and tangential stiffness. The newly developed large-size apparatus is further compared with a well-established apparatus that can conduct micromechanical tests on sand-sized materials.

The cellulosic bast fibers are recognized as a justifiable and biodegradable substitute for producing moderate strength polymer composite materials because of their characteristics of renewability,ecofriendliness,and higher specific *** the aim of this research work is to fabricate Himalayan bast fibers(Nettle fiber(NF)/bauhinia vahlii fiber(BF)) based mono/hybrid epoxy composites at varying weight percentage of 2-6 wt% and evaluate the physical(void fraction and water absorption),mechanical(tensile strength,flexural strength,hardness) and sliding wear properties of as-fabricated *** 6 wt% NBF reinforced composites exhibited higher mechanical properties as compared to NF and BF composites with tensile strength of 34.04 MPa,flexural strength of 42.45 MPa,and hardness of 37.01 Hv *** influence of various control factors(sliding velocity,NF/BF/NBF contents,normal load and sliding distance) on specific sliding wear rate of composites was evaluated by Taguchi(three factors at three levels) experimental design and the percentage contribution of these selected parameters on sliding wear performance was examined by Analysis of variance(ANOVA).The sliding wear property of as-developed composites was found to be greatly influenced by sliding velocity and the wear resistance was observed to be improved with the NF/BF/NBF *** wear mechanism of the as-fabricated composites has been elucidated by scanning electron microscopy *** research outcomes demonstrated that the hybridization of Bauhinia vahlii fiber with Nettle fiber led to improve the mechanical and wear properties of epoxy composites.

Background:Mangroves are important tropical carbon sinks,and their role in mitigating climate change is well documented across the ***,the ecosystem carbon stocks in the mangroves of India have not been studied *** from this region is very limited for providing sufficient insights and authentic evaluation of carbon stocks on a regional *** this study,we evaluated the ecosystem carbon stock and its spatial variation in mangroves of Kerala,southwest coast of ***:The mean biomass stored in mangrove vegetation of Kerala is 117.11±1.02 t/ha(ABG=80.22±0.80,BGB=36.89±0.23 t/ha).six mangrove species were found distributed in the study *** the different species,Avicennia marina had the highest biomass(162.18 t/ha)and least biomass was observed in sonneratia alba(0.61 t/ha).The mean ecosystem carbon stock of mangrove systems in Kerala was estimated to be 139.82 t/ha,equivalent to 513.13 t cO2 e/ha with the vegetation and soil storing 58.56 t c/ha and 81.26 t c/ha ***:The present study reveals that Kerala mangroves store sizable volume of carbon and therefore need to be preserved and managed sustainably,to retain along with the increase in carbon *** features the need of broadening mangrove cover as well as restoring deteriorated land in the past 50 *** mangrove forests in this region are protected by the Kerala Forest Department,they have been frequently facing illegal encroachment,prawn cultivation,and coastal erosion.
