A new predictive computer simulation tool targeting the development of the H-mode pedestal at the plasma edge in tokamaks and the triggering and dynamics of edge localizedmodes(ELMs)is presented in this *** tool brings together,in a coordinated and effective manner,several first-principles physics simulation codes,stability analysis packages,and data processing and visualization tools.A Kepler workflow is used in order to carry out an edge plasma simulation that loosely couples the kinetic code,XGc0,with an ideal MHD linear stability analysis code,ELITE,and an extended MHD initial value code such as M3D or ***0 includes the neoclassical ion-electron-neutral dynamics needed to simulate pedestal growth near the *** Kepler workflow processes the XGc0 simulation results into simple images that can be selected and displayed via the Dashboard,a monitoring tool implemented in AJAX allowing the scientist to track computational resources,examine running and archived jobs,and view key physics data,all within a standard Web *** XGc0 simulation is monitored for the conditions needed to trigger an ELM crash by periodically assessing the edge plasma pressure and current density profiles using the ELITE *** an ELM crash is triggered,the Kepler workflow launches the M3D code on a moderate-size Opteron cluster to simulate the nonlinear ELM crash and to compute the relaxation of plasma profiles after the *** process is monitored through periodic outputs of plasma fluid quantities that are automatically visualized with AVs/Express and may be displayed on the ***,the Kepler workflow archives all data outputs and processed images using HPss,as well as provenance information about the software and hardware used to create the *** complete process of preparing,executing and monitoring a coupled-code simulation of the edge pressure pedestal buildup and the ELM cycle using the Kepler scientific workflow system is described

This paper presents a new computational method for forward uncertainty quantification(UQ)analyses on large-scale structural systems in the presence of arbitrary and dependent random *** method consists of a generalized polynomial chaos expansion(GPcE)for statistical moment and reliability analyses associated with the stochastic output and a static reanalysis method to generate the input-output data *** the reanalysis,we employ substructuring for a structure to isolate its local regions that vary due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated computations of invariant substructures while generating the input-output data *** substructuring with static condensation further improves the computational efficiency of the reanalysis without losing ***,the GPcE with the static reanalysis method can achieve significant computational saving,thus mitigating the curse of dimensionality to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numerical results obtained from a simple structure indicate that the proposed method for UQ produces accurate solutions more efficiently than the GPcE using full finite element analyses(FEAs).We also demonstrate the efficiency and scalability of the proposed method by executing UQ for a large-scale wing-box structure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

In this study,we calculated the inclusive charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering from ^(40)Ar in the quasielastic *** explore the effect of uncertainties stemming from the nuclear structure,we used the KIDs(Korea-IBs-Daegu-sKKU)nuclear energy density functional and skyrme force models,namely sLy4,skI3,and *** models were selected to have distinct behavior in terms of the density dependence of the symmetry energy and the effective mass of the *** the charged-current neutrino scattering,the single-and double-differential cross sections were calculated for various *** cross sections are reported as a function of the incident neutrino *** theoretical cross sections were compared with experimental data,and the roles of the effective mass and symmetry energy were investigated in terms of charged-current neutrino-nucleus scattering.

Topological materials, which feature robust surface and/or edge states, have now been a research focus in condensed maTher physics. They represent a new class of materials exhibiting nontrivial topological phases,and provide a platform for exploring exotic transport phenomena, such as the quantum anomalous Hall effect and the quantum spin Hall effect. Recently, magnetic topological materials have attracted considerable interests due to the possibility to study the interplay between topological and magnetic *** particular, the quantum anomalous Hall and axion insulator phases can be realized in topological insulators with magnetic order. MnBi2Te4, as the first intrinsic antiferromagnetic topological insulator discovered, allows the examination of existing theoretical predictions; it has been extensively studied, and many new discoveries have been made. Here we review the progress made on MnBi2Te4from both experimental and theoretical aspects. The bulk crystal and magnetic structures are surveyed first, followed by a review of theoretical calculations and experimental probes on the band structure and surface states, and a discussion of various exotic phases that can be realized in MnBi2Te4. The properties of MnBi2Te4thin films and the corresponding transport studies are then reviewed, with an emphasis on the edge state transport. Possible future research directions in this field are also discussed.

PH13-8Mo stainless steel powder with high sphericity and well fluidity was prepared by the plasma rotating electrode *** formed parts with ultra-high purity were manufactured by selective laser *** tensile and impact mechanical properties of the printed parts under three heat treatment regimes were compared to those without heat *** microstructure,grain orientation and phase composition were characterized by electron-backscatter diffraction,X-ray diffraction and transmission electron *** characterization results reveal that the addition of heat treatment makes the grains enlarge,and after different heat treatments,the average grain size from 1.51μm in the printed state increases to 2.78,3.09 and 2.06μm,*** formed parts are mainly composed of martensite and retained ***,the NiAl and M23c precipitates form,which are the major strengthening phases of PH13-8Mo stainless *** optimal heat treatment process is 925℃×1 h water cooling(Wc)+0℃×2 h air cooling(Ac)+540℃×4 h *** this heat treatment process,PH13-8Mo formed parts have the optimal comprehensive mechanical properties:the tensile strength,yield strength and impact energy KU2 are 1492 MPa,1432 MPa and 63 J,*** strengthening and toughening via heat treatment are mainly attributed to dislocation strengthening,the formation of NiAl and M23co precipitates and the change of volume fraction of the retained austenite.

The setting work of backup protection using steady-state current is tedious,and mismatches occasionally occur due to the increased proportion of distributed generations(DGs)connected to the power ***,there is a practical need to study a backup protection technology that does not require step-by-step setting and can be adaptively *** paper proposes an action sequence adaptive to fault positions that uses only positive sequence fault component(PsFc)*** the influence of DGs,the unified time dial setting can be obtained by selecting specific *** protection performance is improved by using the adjacent upstream and downstream protections to meet the coordination time interval in the case of metallic faults at the near-and far-ends of the ***,the expression and implementation scheme for inverse-time backup protection(ITBP)based on the unified characteristic equation is *** results show that this scheme can adapt to DG penetration scenarios and can realize the adaptive coordination of multi-level relays.

Piezoelectric accelerometers excel in vibration *** the emerging trend of fully organic electronic microsystems,polymeric piezoelectric accelerometers can be used as vital front-end components to capture dynamic signals,such as vocal vibrations in wearable speaking assistants for those with speaking ***,high-performance polymeric piezoelectric accelerometers suitable for such applications are *** organic compounds such as PVDF have inferior properties to their inorganic counterparts such as ***,most existing polymeric piezoelectric accelerometers have very unbalanced performance *** often sacrifice resonance frequency and bandwidth for a flat-band sensitivity comparable to those of PZT-based accelerometers,leading to increased noise density and limited application *** this study,a new polymeric piezoelectric accelerometer design to overcome the material limitations of PVDF is *** new design aims to simultaneously achieve high sensitivity,broad bandwidth,and low *** samples were manufactured and characterized,demonstrating an average sensitivity of 29.45 pc/g within a±10 g input range,a 5%flat band of 160 Hz,and an in-band noise density of 1.4μg/√*** results surpass those of many PZT-based piezoelectric accelerometers,showing the feasibility of achieving comprehensively high performance in polymeric piezoelectric accelerometers to increase their potential in novel applications such as organic microsystems.

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer(DAMPE)is a space high-energy particle andγ-ray detector whose major scientific goals are the indirect detection of dark matter particles,the origin of cosmic rays and highenergyγ-ray *** its successful launch in December 2015,the DAMPE has been operated smoothly in orbit for more than 8 *** direct measurements of the boron-to-carbon and boron-to-oxygen flux ratios,and the proton+Helium spectrum up to 316 TeV have been obtained,revealing new spectral features with very high *** search results ofγ-ray spectral line and fractionally charged particles indicate a good potential of DAMPE for indirect dark matter detection and new physical discovery in *** DAMPE measurements are expected to significantly advance our understanding of the fundamental problems in astroparticle physics.
