With increasing age,humans become more susceptible to the onset of neurodegenerative diseases(NDs),and among these,Alzheimer's disease(AD)is the most frequent(Nicoletti et al.,2023).NDs are primarily characterized by neuronal loss and atrophy,but also by lesions involving the cerebral and/or cardiovascular system(Balistreri,2021).Lesions such as macroinfa rcts,microinfarcts,hemorrhages,white matter lesions,atherosclerosis,and arteriolosclerosis have also been significantly described in the preclinical stages of cognitive impairment characterizing NDs(Mariani et al.,2007).

Heavy metal(loid)(HM)pollution in agricultural soils has become an environmental concern in antimony(Sb)mining ***,priority pollution sources identification and deep understanding of environmental risks of HMs face great challenges due to multiple and complex pollution sources ***,an integrated approach was conducted to distinguish pollution sources and assess human health risk(HHR)and ecological risk(ER)in a typical Sb mining watershed in Southern *** approach combines absolute principal component score-multiple linear regression(APcS-MLR)and positivematrix factorization(PMF)models with ER and HHR *** pollution sources were distinguished for both models,and APcS-MLR model was more accurate and *** HM concentration source was natural source(39.1%),followed by industrial and agricultural activities(23.0%),unknown sources(21.5%)and Sb mining and smelting activities(16.4%).Although natural source contributed the most to HM concentrations,it did not pose a significant *** and agricultural activities predominantly contributed to ER,and attention should be paid to cd and *** mining and smelting activities were primary anthropogenic sources of HHR,particularly Sb and As *** ER and HHR assessments,Sb mining and smelting,and industrial and agricultural activities are critical sources,causing serious ecological and health *** study showed the advantages of multiple receptor model application in obtaining reliable source identification and providing better source-oriented risk *** pollution management,such as regulating mining and smelting and implementing soil remediation in polluted agricultural soils,is strongly recommended for protecting ecosystems and humans.

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify,large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind,hydro,and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries,particularly those employing organic molecules,are positioned as a key technology for this *** review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs)within this *** traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode,symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both *** review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design,and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous *** providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics,the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems,as are opportunities for future *** should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

BAcKGROUND Sickle cell hepatopathy(ScH)is an inclusive term referring to any liver dysfunction among patients with sickle cell *** sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis is one of the rarest and most fatal presentations of *** present the 23rd reported case of liver transplantation(LT)for ScH;a rare case of acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis managed with LT from a hepatitis c virus(HcV)nucleic acid amplification test positive *** SUMMARY A 29-year-old male with a past medical history of sickle cell disease presented with vaso-occlusive pain *** examination,he had jaundice and a soft,nontender *** he was alert and fully oriented;within 24 h he developed new-onset *** evaluation was notable for hyperbilirubinemia,leukocytosis,anemia,thrombocytopenia,acute kidney injury and elevated international normalized ratio(INR).Imaging by ultrasound and computed tomography scan suggested a cirrhotic liver morphology with no evidence of biliary ductal *** patient was diagnosed with acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis after excluding competing etiologies of acute liver *** underwent LT from an HcV nucleic acid amplification test positive donor 9 d after initial *** liver explant was notable for widespread sinusoidal dilatation with innumerable clusters of sickled red blood cells and *** postoperative day 3,HcV RNA was detectable in the patient's peripheral blood and anti-HcV therapy with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir was initiated on postoperative day *** subsequently achieved sustained virologic response after completing 3 mo of therapy and has been followed clinically for 12 mo *** This case highlights the utility of LT as a viable treatment option for acute sickle cell intrahepatic cholestasis.
