Heart failure continues to be one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality *** infarction is the primary causative agent of chronic heart failure resulting in cardiomyocyte necrosis and the subsequent formation of fibrotic scar *** pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies focus on managing symptoms of heart failure yet remain unable to reverse the underlying *** transplantation usually cannot be relied on,as there is a major discrepancy between the availability of donors and *** a result,heart failure carries a poor prognosis and high mortality *** the heart lacks significant endogenous regeneration potential,novel therapeutic approaches have incorporated the use of stem cells as a vehicle to treat heart failure as they possess the ability to self-renew and differentiate into multiple cell lineages and *** review will discuss past,present,and future clinical trials,factors that influence stem cell therapy outcomes as well as ethical and safety *** and clinical studies have shown a wide spectrum of outcomes when applying stem cells to improve cardiac *** may reflect the infancy of clinical trials and the limited knowledge on the optimal cell type,dosing,route of administration,patient parameters and other important variables that contribute to successful stem cell ***,the field of stem cell therapeutics continues to advance at an unprecedented *** remain cautiously optimistic that stem cells will play a role in heart failure management in years to come.

Tandem repetitions in transcriptomes of some Solanaceae species

characterization of occurrence, density and motif sequence of tandem repeats in the transcribed regions is helpful in understanding the functional significance of these repeats in the modern genomes. We analyzed tandem repeats present in expressed sequences of thirteen species belonging to genera c.p.icum, Nicotiana, petunia and Solanum of family Solanaceae and the genus coffea of Rubiaceae to investigate the propagation and evolutionary sustenance of these repeats. Tandem repeat containing sequences constituted 1.58% to 7.46% of sequences analyzed. Tandem repetitions of size 2, 15, 18 and 21 bp motifs were more frequent. Repeats with unit sizes 21 and 22 bp were also abundant in genomic sequences of potato and tomato. While mutations occurring in these repeats may alter the repeat number, genomes adjust to these changes by keeping the translated products unaffected. Surprisingly, in majority of the species under study, tandem repeat motif length did not exceed 228 bp. conserved tandem repeat motifs of sizes 180, 192 and 204 bp were also abundant in the genomic sequences. Our observations lead us to propose that these tandem repeats are actually remnants of ancestral megasatellite repeats, which have split into multiple repeats due to frequent insertions over the course of evolution.

In this work, we study charged current quasi-elastic scattering （QES） of vμ off nucleon and nucleus using a formalism based on the Llewellyn Smith （LS） model. parameterizations by Galster et al. are used for electric and magnetic Sach＇s form factors of the nucleons. We use the Fermi gas model along with the pauli suppression condition to take into account the nuclear effects in the anti-neutrino-nucleus QES. We calculate vμ-p and vμ-^12c charged current quasi-elastic scattering differential and total cross sections for different values of axial mass MA, and compare the results with data from the GGM, SKAT, BNL, NOMAD, MINERVA and MiniBooNE experiments. The present theoretical approach gives a good description of differential cross section data. The calculations with axial mass MA =0.979 and 1.05 GeV are compatible with data from most of the experiments.

In gastrointestinal endosc.p., simulation-based training can help endosc.p.sts acquire new skills and accelerate the learning curve. Simulation creates an ideal environment for trainees, where they can practice specific skills, perform cases at their own pace, and make mistakes with no risk to patients. Educators also benefit from the use of simulators, as they can structure training according to learner needs and focus solely on the trainee. Not all simulation-based training,however, is effective. To maximize benefits from this instructional modality,educators must be conscious of learners' needs, the potential benefits of training,and associated costs. Simulation should be integrated into training in a manner that is grounded in educational theory and empirical data. In this review, we focus on four best practices in simulation-based education: deliberate practice with mastery learning, feedback and debriefing, contextual learning, and innovative educational strategies. For each topic, we provide definitions,supporting evidence, and practical tips for implementation.

Background: Involvement of the nail is quite common in psoriasis and at times may be the sole diagnostic clue. However, the histopathology of nail psoriasis has not been adequately evaluated. A confirmation of the diagnosis is required in cases suspected to have nail psoriasis in order to plan longterm therapy. Objectives: To assess the diagnostic significance and safety profile of nail biopsy in cases with nail psoriasis. Methods: clinical and mycological features were studied in 42 patients with nail psoriasis. Of these, 22 patients gave consent for nail biopsies to be taken and the histopathological changes were assessed. Results: Males were affected more commonly (57% ) with a peak incidence in the age group of 10- 20 years (29% ). Distal onycholysis, discoloration of nail plate, subungual hyperkeratosis and fine nail pitting were the predominant clinical features. In the 22 biopsies done, hyperkeratosis with parakeratosis (91% ) was found to be the most common and hypergranulosis was the least common histological finding (36% ). clinicohistological correlation was possible only in 55% cases. periodic acid-Schiff (pAS) stainingwas done for all biopsies. conclusions: Histopathological examination of nails is a valuable diagnostic aid, especially in the absence of skin lesions. Examination of the pAS-stained sections is necessary before making a histological diagnosis of nail psoriasis because onychomycosis and psoriasis may show similar histology.

The quantum random walk is a possible approach to construct new quantum search algorithms. It has been shown by Shenvi et al. [phys. Rev. A 67（2003）52307] that a kind of algorithm can perform an oracle search on a database of N items with O（√N） calling to the oracle, yielding a speedup similar to other quantum search algorithms. We study the effect of white or Gaussian noise on this algorithm. The algorithm loses efficiency when noise is added. We also show that noise on the target state plays a more important role than that on other states. Finally we compare the effects of similar types of noise in the quantum random walk search algorithm and grover＇s search algorithm.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus and its complications are associated with oxidative stress and the depletion of antioxidant defenses. The influence of acetylsalicylic acid on reversing the decrease in antioxidants, insulin resistance, glucose homeostasis, and inflammatory cascade can help prevent diabetes complications. purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of acetylsalicylic acid on the antioxidant enzymatic system in patients with diabetes. Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was carried out in 21 patients of both sexes with Type 2 diabetes for less than five years at the time of diagnosis, without pharmacological treatment, and randomly selected. Acetylsalicylic acid (300 mg) was administered orally for three months to the study group (n = 11) compared to the placebo control group (n = 10). Before and after the intervention, anthropometric and metabolic measurements were taken, fasting plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin A1c, lipid profile panel, glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and antioxidant c.p.city/activity were determined;values are presented as mean ± standard deviation. Intra- and intergroup differences were tested by Wilcoxon signed rank and Mann-Whitney U test, respectively;p-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The acetylsalicylic acid group showed a decrease in weight (85.6 ± 19.3 vs. 84.1 ± 19.0 kg p = 0.01), cholesterol (205.9 ± 16.6 vs. 186.0 ± 23.2 mg/dL p = 0.02), and glycated hemoglobin A1c (7.8% ± 0.9% vs. 7.0% ± 0.7% p = 0.02). The placebo group exhibited reduction in weight (76.1 ± 14.9 vs. 74.9 ± 15.0 kg p = 0.04), glycated hemoglobin A1c (6.9% ± 0.6% vs. 6.2% ± 0.4% p = 0.004), and total antioxidant c.p.city (4.1 ± 0.5 vs. 4.8 ± 0.3 mmol/L p = 0.002). conclusion: The administration of acetylsalicylic acid did not modify the antioxidant enzyme system.
