This paper discusses potential application of fuzzy set theory,more specifically, pattern matching, in assessing risk in chemicalplants. Risk factors have been evaluated using linguisticrepresentations of the quantity of the hazardous substance involved,its frequency of interaction with the environment, severity of itsimpact and the uncertainty involved in its detection in advance. Foreach linguistic value there is a corresponding membership functionranging over a universe of discourse. The risk scenario created by ahazard/hazardous situation having highest degree of featural value istaken as the known pattern.

The ability to secrete effector proteins that can enter plant cells and manipulate host processes is a key determinant of what makes a successful plant ***,we review intracellular effectors from filamentous(fungal and oomycete)phytopathogens and the host proteins and processes that are targeted to promote *** cover contrasting virulence strategies and effector modes of *** pathogen effectors alter the fates of host proteins that they target,changing their stability,their activity,their location,and the protein partners with which they *** effectors inhibit target activity,whereas others enhance or utilize it,and some target multiple host *** discuss the emerging topic of effectors that target negative regulators of immunity or other plant proteins with activities that support *** also highlight the commonly targeted host proteins that are manipulated by effectors from multiple pathogens,including those representing different kingdoms of life.

GP64 is the major envelope glycoprotein associated with the budded virus (BV) of Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) and is essential for attachment and budding of BV particles. confocal microscopy and flotation assays established the presence of lipid raft domains within the plasma membranes of AcMNPV-infected Sf9 cells and suggested the association of GP64 with lipid rafts during infection. GP64 and filamentous actin (F-actin) were found to co-localise at the cell cortex at 24 and 48 hpi and an additional restructuring of F-actin during infection was visualised, resulting in a strongly polarised distribution of both F-actin and GP64 at the cell cortex. Depletion of F-actin, achieved by treatment of Sf9 cells with latrunculin B (LB), resulted in the redistribution of GP64 with significant cytoplasmic aggregation and reduced presence at the plasma membrane. Treatment with LB also resulted in reduced production of BV in Sf9 cells. Analysis of virus gene transcription confirmed this reduction was not due to decreased trafficking of nucleocapsids to the nucleus or to decreased production of infectious progeny nucleocapsids. Reduced BV production due to a lack of GP64 at the plasma membrane of AcMNPV-infected Sf9 cells treated with LB, suggests a key role for F-actin in the egress of BV.

AIM: To investigate the changes in intraocular pressure(IOP) before and after intraocular surgery measured with Goldmann applanation tonometry(GAT) and pascal dynamic contour tonometry(PDcT), and assessed their ***: Patients who underwent trans pars plana vitrectomy(TPPV) with or without cataract extraction(cE) were included. The IOP was measured in both eyes with GAT and PDcT pre-and postoperatively, where the nonoperated eyes functioned as ***: Preoperatively, mean IOP measurements were 16.3±6.0 mm Hg for GAT and 12.0±2.8 mm Hg for PDcT for the operated eyes. Postoperatively, the mean IOP dropped to 14.3±5.6 mm Hg for GAT(P=0.011) and rose up to 12.7±2.6 mm Hg for PDcT(P=0.257). Bland-Altman analysis showed a poor agreement between GAT and PDcT with a mean difference of 2.9 mm Hg preoperatively and 95% limits of agreement ranging from -3.2 to 9.0 mm Hg. Postoperatively, the mean difference was 1.2 mm Hg with 95% limits of agreement ranging from-8.3 to 10.7 mm Hg. There were no significant differences between the TPPV and TPPV+cE group, except when measured with PDcT postoperatively(P=0.012).cONcLUSION: The IOP is reduced after surgery when measured with GAT and remained stable when measured with PDcT. However, the agreement between GAT and PDcT is poor. Although PDcT may be a more accurate predictor of the true IOP, it seems less suitable for daily use in the clinical practice.

BAcKGROUND: Following curative treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (Hcc), 50%-90% of postoperative death is due to recurrent disease. Intra-hepatic recurrence is frequently the only site of recurrence. Thus, any neoadjuvant or adjuvant therapy, which can decrease or delay the incidence of intra-hepatic recurrence, or any cancer chemoprevention which can prevent a new Hcc from developing in the liver remnant, will improve the results of liver resection. This article systematically reviewed the current evidence of neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and chemoprevention in partial hepatectomy of Hcc. DATA SOURcES: Studies were identified by searching MEDLINE and PubMed databases for articles from January 1990 to November 2008 using the keywords 'hepatocellular carcinoma', 'hepatectomy', 'adjuvant therapy', 'neoadjuvant therapy', and 'regional therapy'. Additional papers and book chapters were identified by a manual search of the references from the key articles. RESULTS: Neoadjuvant transarterial chemoembolization or adjuvant regional transarterial chemotherapy embolization+systemic chemotherapy did not add benefit. Both adjuvant transarterial radioembolization with (131)I-lipiodol and adjuvant systemic interferon showed promising results. However, there were only a limited number of such studies. cONcLUSIONS: Further randomized controlled studies need to be carried out. currently, there is no consensus on a standard neoadjuvant/adjuvant/chemoprevention therapy in partial hepatectomy for Hcc.

In this paper, a multi-sensory quality evaluation using an array of instruments to measure different sensory qualities is established via communication network. The network is used to transmit quality data to evaluation computer. And the network-induced delays between instruments and computer may have negative influence on final evaluation results. The main goal of this paper is to analyze network delays’ influence on evaluation results, and present a fuzzy-logic based solution to eliminate the impact and improve the precision of evaluation. And simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
