Pharmacological targeting cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis by tryptanthrin induces microglia polarization toward M2 phenotype and promotes functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord injury

The M1/M2 phenotypic shift of microglia after spinal cord injury plays an important role in the regulation of neuroinflammation during the secondary injury phase of spinal cord *** of shifting microglia polarization from M1(neurotoxic and proinflammatory type)to M2(neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory type)after spinal cord injury appears to be *** possesses an anti-inflammatory biological ***,its roles and the underlying molecular mechanisms in spinal cord injury remain *** this study,we found that tryptanthrin inhibited microglia-derived inflammation by promoting polarization to the M2 phenotype in *** promoted M2 polarization through inactivating the cGAS/STING/NF-κB ***,we found that targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB pathway with tryptanthrin shifted microglia from the M1 to M2 phenotype after spinal cord injury,inhibited neuronal loss,and promoted tissue repair and functional recovery in a mouse model of spinal cord ***,using a conditional co-culture system,we found that microglia treated with tryptanthrin suppressed endoplasmic reticulum stress-related neuronal *** together,these results suggest that by targeting the cGAS/STING/NF-κB axis,tryptanthrin attenuates microglia-derived neuroinflammation and promotes functional recovery after spinal cord injury through shifting microglia polarization to the M2 phenotype.

From blocker to booster:harnessing garnet surface chemistry for advanced solid-state electrolytes

Garnet electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability are widely used as fillers to fabricate composite solid electrolytes(cPEs)within polymer ***,the performance of cPEs is significantly influenced by the surface characteristics of the garnet ***,the impact of garnet surface characteristics on cPEs was systematically investigated and a conversion from a typically unstable and Lewis basic surface to a more stable Lewis acidic surface was realized,which is shown to be more conductive to the improved performance of *** simultaneously removing the Li_(2)cO_(3)layer and applying a Li-Al-O coating,the influence of surface characteristics on cPEs was *** Lewis acid Li-Al-O surface coating not only promotes lithium salt dissociation,improving the ionic conductivity and ionic transfer number,but also prevents the reformation of the passive Lewis basic Li_(2)cO_(3)*** to garnet with a Lewis basic Li_(2)cO_(3)surface,the garnet modified with a Lewis acid Li-Al-O coating enhances cPEs,which exhibit an improved critical current density of 1.0 mA·cm^(-2)and highly stable lithium symmetric cell cycling for 400 h at 0.2 mA·cm^(-2).This research highlights the importance of surface chemistry in the design of high-performance solid-state batteries and presents a strategic modification approach for garnetbased cPEs.

Fabrication of carbon-supported Al2O3 nanoparticles via spontaneous cross-linking to enhance selective hydrogenation of furfural

Selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol is a great challenge in the hydrogenation field due to thermodynamic preference for hydrogenation of c=c over c=***,a novel Al2O3/c-u hybrid catalyst,composed of N-modified dendritic carbon networks supporting Al2O3nanoparticles,was successfully prepared via carbonizing the freeze-dried gel from spontaneous cross-linking of alginate,Al3+and *** obtained carbon-supported Al2O3hybrid catalyst has a high ratio （31%） of Al species in pentahedral-coordinated *** introduction of urea enhances the surface N content,the ratio of pyrrolic N,and specific surface area of catalyst,leading to improved adsorption capacity of c=O and the accessibility of active *** the furfural hydrogenation reaction with isopropyl alcohol as hydrogen donor,Al2O3/c-u catalyst achieved a 90%conversion of furfural with 98.0% selectivity to furfuryl alcohol,outperforming that of commercial γ-***,Al2O3/c-u demonstrates excellent catalytic stability in the recycling tests attributed to the synergistic effect of abundant weak Lewis acid sites and the anchoring effect of the carbon network on *** work provides an innovative and facile strategy for fabrication of carbon-supported Al2O3hybrid catalysts with rich AlVspecies,serving as a high selective hydrogenation catalyst through MPV reaction route.

Staged dendrite suppression for high safe and stable lithium-sulfur batteries

The unavoidable dendrite growth and shuttle effect have long been stranglehold challenges limiting the safety and practicality of lithium-sulfur ***,we propose a dual-action strategy to address the lithium dendrite issue in stages by constructing a multifunctional surface-negatively-charged nanodiamond layer with high ductility and robust puncture resistance on polypropylene （PP） *** uniformly loaded compact negative layer can not only significantly enhance electron transmission efficiency and promote uniform lithium deposition,but also reduce the formation of dendrite during early deposition *** importantly,under the strong puncture stress encountered during the deterioration of lithium dendrite growth under limiting current,the high ductility and robust puncture resistance（145.88 MPa） of as-obtained nanodiamond layer can effectively prevent short circuits caused by unavoidable lithium *** Li||Li symmetrical cells assembled with nanodiamond layer modified PP demonstrated a stable cycle of over 1000 h at 2 mA cm-2with a polarization voltage of only 29.3 ***,the negative charged layer serves as a physical barrier blocking lithium polysulfide ions,effectively mitigating capacity *** improved cells achieved a capacity decay of only 0.042%per cycle after 700 cycles at 3 c,demonstrating effective suppression of dendrite growth and capacity attenuation,showing promising prospect.

Parameter influence on electron collection efficiency of a bare electrodynamic tether

This study develops a coupled multiphysics finite element method for the dynamic analysis of a bare flexible electrodynamic tether. contrary to the existing methods, the new method discretizes and solves the orbital motion limited equation and the dynamic equation of an elastic flexible tether ***, the new method is verified via comparison with the existing methods in a straight tether ***, the number of tether elements, tether bending deformation, and two design parameters at the cathodic end affecting the electrical current are investigated. It is determined that the tether bending deformation and the two parameters i.e., the impedance ZT and ΦPWhave a significant impact on the electron collection efficiency of an electrodynamic tether system. The results indicate that the proposed method should be applied in the refined mission analysis.

cutaneous nerve regeneration in diabetic wounds remains a challenge for current clinical ***,a natural protein-based functional hydrogel is developed using keratin as the sole matrix,and protocatechuic aldehyde(PA)and zinc ions as the building blocks through dual-dynamic crosslinking reactions of thiol-aldehyde addition and catecholzinc ions *** unique structural design endows the hydrogel with excellent injectability,skin adhesion,self-healing and antibacterial ability,and *** addition,this hydrogel acts as a drug carrier for the loading and sustained release of phellopterin(PP),a natural compound extracted from traditional chinese medicine Angelica *** findings demonstrate that the PP-loaded hydrogel promotes cutaneous nerve regeneration,angiogenesis and tissue remodeling in the full-thickness wounds in both db/db and streptozotocin-induced c57BL/6 diabetic mice,notably by the synergistic effect of zinc ions and PP,showing a great potential in diabetic wound therapy.

DEcREASING PITTING SUScEPTIBILITY OF PASSIVE FILMS ON X70 PIPELINE STEEL IN Nacl SOLUTIONS BY ILLUMINATION

The influence of UV illumination on passivity and pitting susceptibility on X70 pipoeline steel in a borate buffer （ph=8.4 ） solution containing Nacl is described. It is observed that illumination of the sample leads to a decrease in its pitting susceptibility as indicated by pitting potential and incubation time measurements in chloride containing electrolytes. This effect is strongly dependent on the applied potential during passivation. The electronic properties of the passive films on X70 steel were studied by Mott-Schottky analysis and photocurrent transient measurements. The results indicated that illumination during passivation led to modifications in the electronic properties of the passive films, mainly to a decrease of the bulk doping and an increase in the surface state density. The cause for the decrease in the pitting susceptibility is preliminary explained in terms of such modifications of the passive flm.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of an End Plate connection with Using Long Shank SMA Bolts

Superelastic shape memory alloys( SMAs) have the ability to recover their original shape after experiencing large strains. End-plate connection with using superelastic long shank SMA bolts is proposed in this paper. By using strong beam-weak bolt cluster design methodology and special configurations to strength beam ends,a superelastic hinge is expected to form in column flange. To validate the mechanical behavior of the proposed beam-to-column connection,both quasi-static tests and numerical analysis are conducted with cyclic transverse loads applied on the beam ends. The results indicate the connection deformations concentrate on the long shank SMA bolts upon loading and the bolt cluster rotates around the axis near beam flange. By using the super elastic effect,the SMA bolts recover most elongations and the connection recovers to its original shape after experiencing 0. 02 rad interstorey drift angle. The connection shows obvious self-centering properties.
