characterization and source apportionment of volatile organic compounds in hong Kong:A 5-year study for three different archetypical sites

Initial success has been achieved in hong Kong in controlling primary air pollutants,but ambient ozone levels kept increasing during the past three *** organic compounds(VOcs)are important for mitigating ozone pollution as its major *** study analyzed VOc characteristics of roadside,suburban,and rural sites in hong Kong to investigate their compositions,concentrations,and source *** showthat the TVOc concentrations were 23.05±13.24,12.68±15.36,and 5.16±5.48 ppbv for roadside,suburban,and rural sites between May 2015 to June 2019,*** using Positive Matrix Factorization(PMF)model,six sources were identified at the roadside site over five years:Liquefied petroleum gas(LPG)usage(33%–46%),gasoline evaporation(8%–31%),aged air mass(11%–28%),gasoline exhaust(5%–16%),diesel exhaust(2%–16%)and fuel filling(75–9%).Similarly,six sources were distinguished at the suburban site,including LPG usage(30%–33%),solvent usage(20%–26%),diesel exhaust(14%–26%),gasoline evaporation(8%–16%),aged air mass(4%–11%),and biogenic emissions(2%–5%).At the rural site,four sources were identified,including aged airmass(33%–51%),solvent usage(25%–30%),vehicular emissions(11%–28%),and biogenic emissions(6%–12%).The analysis further revealed that fuel filling and LPG usage were the primary contributors to OFP and Oh reactivity at the roadside site,while solvent usage and biogenic emissions accounted for almost half of OFP and Oh reactivity at the suburban and rural sites,*** findings highlight the importance of identifying and characterizing VOc sources at different sites to help policymakers develop targeted measures for pollution mitigation in specific areas.

Recent progress of interconnecting layer for tandem organic solar cells

Development of a miniature silicon wafer fuel cell using L-ascorbic acid as fuel

In the current studies a miniature silicon wafer fuel cell(Fc) using L-ascorbic acid as fuel was developed. The cell employs L-ascorbic acid and air as reactants and a thin polymer electrolyte as a separator. Inductively coupled plasma(IcP) silicon etching was employed to fabricate high aspect-ratio columns on the silicon substrate to increase the surface area. A thin platinum layer deposited directly on the silicon surface by the sputtering was used as the catalyst layer for L-ascorbic acid electro-oxidation. cyclic voltammetry shows that the oxidation of L-ascorbic acid on the sputtered platinum layer is irreversible and that the onset potentials for the oxidation of L-ascorbic acid are from 0.27 V to 0.35 V versus an Ag/Agcl reference electrode. It is found that at the room temperature,with 1 mol/L L-ascorbic acid/PBS(phosphate buffered solution) solution pumped to the anode at 1 ml/min flow rate and air spontaneously diffusing to the cathode as the oxidant,the maximum output power density of the cell was 1.95 mW/cm2 at a current density of 10 mA/cm2.

White Noise in Quantum Random Walk Search Algorithm

The quantum random walk is a possible approach to construct new quantum search algorithms. It has been shown by Shenvi et al. [Phys. Rev. A 67（2003）52307] that a kind of algorithm can perform an oracle search on a database of N items with O（√N） calling to the oracle, yielding a speedup similar to other quantum search algorithms. We study the effect of white or Gaussian noise on this algorithm. The algorithm loses efficiency when noise is added. We also show that noise on the target state plays a more important role than that on other states. Finally we compare the effects of similar types of noise in the quantum random walk search algorithm and Grover＇s search algorithm.

Organic polymer solar cells （OScs） and organic-inorganic.h.brid perovskite solar cells （PScs） have achieved notable progress over the past several years. A central topic in these fields is exploring electronically efficient, stable and effective hole-transporting layer （hTL） materials. The goal is to enhance hole-collection ability, reduce charge recombination, increase built-in voltage, and hence improve the performance as well as the device stability. Transition metal oxides （TMOs） semiconductors such as NiOx, cuOx, crOx, MoOx, WO3, and V2O5, have been widely used as hTLs in OScs. These TMOs are naturally adopted into PSc as hTLs and shows their importance. There are similarities, and also differences in applying TMOs in these two types of main solution processed solar cells. This concise review is on the recent developments of transition metal oxide hTL in OScs and PScs. The paper starts from the discussion of the cation valence and electronic structure of the transition metal oxide materials, followed by analyzing the structure-property relationships of these hTLs, which we attempt to give a systematic introduction about the influences of their cation valence, electronic structure, work ftmction and film property on device performance.

Machine learning prediction of magnetic properties of Fe-based metallic glasses considering glass forming ability

Fe-based metallic glasses(MGs)have shown great commercial values due to their excellent soft magnetic *** prediction with consideration of glass forming ability(GFA)is of great signifi-cance for developing novel functional Fe-based ***,theories or models established based on condensed matter physics exhibit limited accuracy and some *** this work,based on 618 Fe-based MGs samples collected from published works,machine learning(ML)models were well trained to predict saturated magnetization(B_(s))of Fe-based *** was treated as a feature using the experimental data of the supercooled liquid region(△T_(x)).Three ML algorithms,namely eXtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),artificial neural networks(ANN)and random forest(RF),were *** feature selection and hyperparameter tuning,XGBoost showed the best predictive performance on the randomly split test dataset with determination coefficient(R^(2))of 0.942,mean absolute percent error(MAPE)of 5.563%,and root mean squared error(RMSE)of 0.078 T.A variety of feature importance rankings derived by XGBoost models showed that T_(x) played an important role in the predictive performance of the *** work showed the proposed ML method can simultaneously aggregate GFA and other features in ther-modynamics,kinetics and structures to predict the magnetic properties of Fe-based MGs with excellent accuracy.

The corrosion inhibition for carbon steel in circulating cooling water by modified lignosulphonate has been investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique. Results show that the inhibition efficiency of modified lignosulphonate GcL2 is a great improvement on that of lignosulphonate. The maximum inhibition efficiency of GcL2 reaches 99.21% at the concentration of 400mg·L^-1 at 303K. The corrosion inhibition of GcL2 is attributed to forming adsorption film on the metal surface for the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in GcL2 solution shows more than one ***,results also indicate that it is more efficient in stirring solution than in still solution for GcL2 because the constant of adsorption in stirring solution is much larger than that in still solution. The adsorption of inhibitor GcL2 follows Langmuir＇s adsorption isotherm.

A ruptured recurrent small bowel gastrointestinal stromal tumour causing hemoperitoneum

hemoperitoneum is a rare and potentially life-threatening complication of GIST. We reported a 54- year-old man who developed disseminated intra-abdominal recurrence from a previously resected gastrointestinal stromal tumour （GIST） of the small bowel, and the patient presented with hemoperitoneum. Emergent debulking surgery was performed. A high dose imatinib was prescribed. Despite the presence of residual disease, the patient was well clinically 8 months after the operation. Even though, there is no evidence to support the routine use of debulking surgery in the management of GIST. In our patient, disease progression after second line targeted therapy and the absence of alternative treatment options for spontaneous rupture and hemoperitoneum prompted us to treat the patient aggressively. Resection of the ruptured GIST was carried out for control of bleeding and to prevent recurrent bleeding in this patient with good surgical risks. During the treatment decision-making, the patient＇s general condition, the risk of surgery and the extent of dissemination were taken into consideration. In this patient who presented with spontaneous rupture of a small intestinal GIST, the novel use of targeted therapy and aggressive surgical treatment produced reasonably good survival outcome.
