Unraveling the impacts of intermolecular interaction on morphology evolution for highly efficient organic solar cells and modules

Understanding the effect of intermolecular interaction on the growth dynamic of active layers is critical for advancing organic solar cells(OScs). However, the diverse structure of donors and acceptors makes the research challenging. Additives with customizable structures and properties could simplify this complexity. Herein, we meticulously tailor two additives of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(EDOT) and 2,5-dibromo-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene(DBEDOT), possessing distinct intermolecular interaction features to elaborate the inherent relationship. It is found that varied interaction strengths can alter film formation processes. The enhanced intermolecular interaction between the DBEDOT and non-fullerene acceptor BTP-e c9-4f results in pre-aggregation and longer crystallization duration of BTP-e c9-4f, facilitating the formation of films with compact molecular packing and decent phase separation. Thus, exciton dissociation and charge transport become more efficient. finally, devices processed with DBEDOT exhibit a remarkable power conversion efficiency of 19.35% in small-area OScs and 14.11% in bladecoated 5 cm × 5 cm organic solar mini-modules. Especially, OScs can maintain 80% of their initial efficiency after continuous annealing at 85 °c.f.r over 2,100 h.

formulation optimization of scutellarin-loaded HP-β-cD/chitosan nanoparticles using response surface methodology with Box–Behnken design

The aim of this paper is to investigate and optimize the preparation of scutellarin(ScU)-loaded HP-β-cD/chitosan(cS) nanoparticles(cD/cS-ScU-NPs). cD/cS-ScU-NPs were prepared by ionic cross-linking method and the process and formulation variables were optimized using response surface methodology(RSM) with a three-level, three factor Box–Behnken design(BBD).The independent variables were the added amounts of cS, sodium tripolyphosphate(TPP)and Pluronic.f.68 during the preparation. Dependent variables(responses) were particle size and entrapment efficiency. Mathematical equations and respond surface plots were used to correlate independent and dependent *** preparation process and formulation variables were optimized to achieve minimum particle size and maximum entrapment efficiency by calculating the overall desirability value(OD). The optimized NP formulation was characterized for particle size, PDI, zeta potential, entrapment efficiency and in vitro drug *** to the results, an optimized cD/cS-ScU-NP formulation was prepared. Results for particle size, PDI, zeta potential and entrapment efficiency were found to be around 200 nm,0.5, 25 mV, and 70% respectively. for in vitro study, the release of ScU from the NPs exhibited a biphasic release and was in accordance with Higuchi equation. The optimized preparation was simple with the probability for industrialization. The combination use of RSM, BBD and overall desirability values could provide a promising application for incorporating cD into cS nanoparticles as drug delivery carrier and help develop lab-scale procedures.

New Nanocomposite Materials by Incorporation of Nanocrystalline TiO_2 Particles into Polyaniline conductive films

This work is focused on the combination of two building-blocks, nanocrystalline TiO2 particles and polyaniline conductive films （PAni）. The preparation of new nanostructured composite materials, displaying electron- and proton-conductive properties, to be used for the fabrication of new and superior energy storage devices was envisaged. The semiconducting TiO2 nanoparticles were obtained by means of a hydrothermal route. The PAni films were prepared on glassy carbon electrodes by electrochemical polymerization, under potential dynamic conditions. After characterization by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy or scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical techniques, the nanocrystalline particles were immobilized in the polymer matrix. The incorporation of the TiO2 was achieved using two distinct approaches： during the polymer growth or by deposition over previously prepared PAni films. The results demonstrate that the PAni morphology depends on the experimental conditions used during the polymer growth. After TiO2 immobilization, the best electrochemical response was obtained for the nanocomposite structure produced through the TiO2 incorporation after the PAni film synthesis. The modified electrodes were structurally and morphologically characterized and their electro-catalytic activity towards the hydrogen evolution reaction was analyzed. A new electrochemical performance related with the oxidation of molecular hydrogen entrapped in the PAni-TiO2 matrix was observed for the modified electrode after TiO2 incorporation. This behavior can be directly associated with the synergetic combination of the TiO2 and PAni, and is dependent on the amount of the semiconductor.

Synthesis of c.f.TiAl_3 composite by Infiltration-In Situ Reaction

Infiltration-in situ reaction synthesis of cf/TiAl3 composite was investigated. The as-cast material was obtained by titanium particles, carbon fibers and pure aluminum. Titanium particles and carbon fibers were mixed and pressed to form a preform firstly, and then molten pure aluminum was pressed into the preform, subsequently, cooled rapidly. In situ reaction samples were obtained by heating the as-cast material from 600 to 1000℃ for I h. The microstructural evolution of in situ reaction samples was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray. In addition, the phase composition of products was inspected by X-ray diffraction. Experimental results showed that the dominant product of TiAl3 and a small amount of Al4c3 were formed at low temperature. While TiAl3 was not stable at high temperature, along with its decrease, Tic phase became favorable. In the final products, TiAl3, Tic and Al4c3 were detected. Thus, the in situ reaction for Ti-Al-c system composite proceeded a formed-decomposed-precipitated mechanism.

Highly selective synthesis for 4,4′-bisphenol f from phenol and formaldehyde catalyzed with [c_4mim][HSO_4] ionic liquid

The effects of N-methylimidazole cation [cnmim] with different alkyl chain lengths, the types of cations and anions of ionic liquids and the reaction parameters on the catalytic activity and the selectivity for 4,4′-bisphenol f were investigated. The hydrogen bonding between the hydroxyl of phenol and the c2-position hydrogen of imidazole moiety in hydrophilic imidazole-based ionic liquid has important influence on the selectivity for 4,4′-bisphenol f, and under the conditions of the molar ratio of phenol/[c4mim][HSO4] 1:1, reaction temperature65 °c and the theoretical molar ratio of phenol/formaldehyde 2:1, the selectivity for 4,4′-bisphenol f reached69.1%. compared with the high phenol/formaldehyde ratio reported in literatures, the low molar ratio of phenol/formaldehyde and the low reaction temperature can greatly reduce energy consumption, and has important significance for industrial application.

ErNi2 ribbons were produced by rapid solidification using the melt spinning *** structural,magnetic and magnetocaloric properties in the as-solidified state were studied by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,magnetization and spec.f.c heat *** are single phase with the Mgcu2-type crystal structure,a curie temperature Tc of 6.8 K and a saturation magnetization at2 K and 5 T of 124.0 A·m2/*** a magnetic.f.eld change μ0△H of 5 T(2 T) ribbons show a maximum magnetic entropy change |△SMpeak| of 24.1(16.9) J/(kg·K),and an adiabatic temperature change △Tadmax of8.1(4.4) K;this is similar to the previously reported literature for bulk alloys that were processed through conventional melting techniques followed by prolonged thermal *** addition,the samples also show slightly wider △SM(T) curves with respect to bulk alloys leading to a larger refrigerant capacity.

Effects of MgO modified β-TcP nanoparticles on the microstructure and properties of β-TcP/Mg-Zn-Zr composites

The mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy composites were improved bythe addition of MgO surface modified tricalcium phosphate ceramic nanoparticles (m-β-TcP). Mg-3Zn-0.8Zr composites with unmodified (MZZT) and modified (MZZMT) nanoparticles were produced byhigh shear mixing technology. Effects of MgO m-β-TcP nanoparticles on the microstructure, mechanicalproperties, electrochemical corrosion properties and cytocompatibility of Mg-Zn-Zr/β-TcP compositeswere investigated. After hot extrusion deformation and dynamic recrystallization, the grain size ofMZZMT was the half size of MZZT and the distribution of m-β-TcP particles in the matrix was moreuniform than β-TcP particles. The yield tensile strength (YTS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), andcorrosion potential (Ecorr) of MZZMT were higher than MZZT;the corrosion current density (Icorr) ofMZZMT was lower than MZZT. cell proliferation of co-cultured MZZMT and MZZT composite sampleswere roughly the same and the cell number at each time point is higher for MZZMT than for MZZTsamples.

Identification of Hammerstein-Wiener model with discontinuous input nonlinearity

This paper deals with the identification of Hammerstein-Wiener models with an irregular function in the input block. These models comprise a set of linear segments. The linear time invariant(LTI) block may be parametric or nonparametric. The nonlinearity of the output can be any continuous function of arbitrary shape; it is not necessarily assumed to be invertible. Subsequently, sine inputs will be used to identify the system parameters. first, the output nonlinearity is determined by filtering the system output and varying the phase of a given reference sine signal; second, the parameters of the linear block can be determined for any frequency; and finally, the input nonlinearity can be obtained by changing the offset and amplitude of the input sine signal.
