This work reports the effects of activation temperatures on the porous development and electrochemical performance of activated carbons. Herein, activated carbons were prepared from the biowaste of mangosteen peel by using KOH activation at temperatures of 400, 600, and 800°c. The results demonstrate that the specific surface area increases with increasing the activation temperatures in which the well-developed porous structure after KOH activation at 800°c provides the highest specific surface area of 1039 m2g-1. At 600°c, the activated carbon delivers the highest specific capacitance value of 182 F g-1at a current density of 0.5 A g-1in 3 M KOH aqueous electrolyte. This is correlated well with its high micropore fractions(99%). Moreover, it was found that the activation temperature changes the major contribution of oxygen-containing functional group on surface of activated carbon, which is beneficial for the enhancement of the specific capacitance value of activated carbon at the temperature of 600°c. This work suggests that the activation temperature is a key to optimizing the electrochemical performance of activated carbons. Overall, our activated carbons can be considered as a strong candidate for use as electrode materials in supercapacitors.

cooperation in spectral sensing (SS) offers a fast and reliable detection of primary user (PU) transmission over a frequency spectrum at the expense of increased energy consumption. Since the fusion center (Fc) has to handle a large set of data, a cluster based approach, specifically fuzzy c-means clustering (FcM), has been extensively used in energy detection based cooperative spectrum sensing (cSS). However, the performance of FcM degrades at low signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) and in the presence of multiple PUs as energy data patterns at the Fc are often found to be non-spherical i.e. overlapping. To address the problem, this work explores the scope of kernel fuzzy c-means (KFcM) on energy detection based cSS through the projection of non-linear input data to a high dimensional feature space. Extensive simulation results are shown to highlight the improved detection of multiple PUs at low SNR with low energy consumption. An improvement in the detection probability by ∼ 6.78 % and ∼ 6.96 % at −15 dBW and −20 dBW, respectively, is achieved over the existing FcM method.

We describe a unique new species and genus of agamid lizard from the karstic massifs of Khammouan Province,central Laos.Laodracon carsticola Gen.et sp.***.is an elusive medium-sized lizard(maximum snout-vent length101 mm)specifically adapted to life on limestone rocks and pinnacles.To assess the phylogenetic position of the new genus amongst other agamids,we generated DNA sequences from two mitochondrial gene fragments(16S rRNA and ND2)and three nuclear loci(BDNF,RAG1 and c-mos),with a final alignment comprising 7418 base pairs for 64 agamid species.Phylogenetic analyses unambiguously place the new genus in the mainland Asia subfamily Draconinae,where it forms a clade sister to the genus Diploderma from East Asia and the northern part of Southeast Asia.Morphologically,the new genus is distinguished from all other genera in Draconinae by possessing a notably swollen tail base with enlarged scales on its dorsal and ventral surfaces.Our work provides further evidence that limestone regions of Indochina represent unique“arks of biodiversity”and harbor numerous relict lineages.To date,Laodracon carsticola Gen.et sp.***.is known from only two adult male specimens and its distribution seems to be restricted to a narrow limestone massif on the border of Khammouan and Bolikhamxai provinces of Laos.Additional studies are required to understand its life history,distribution,and conservation status.

Nanoparticles of potassium ferrite(KFeO_(2))in this work were synthesized by a simple egg white solution method upon calcination in air at 773,873,and 973 K for 2 h.The effects of calcination temperature on the structural and magnetic properties of the synthesized KFeO_(2) nanoparticles were investigated.By varying the calcination temperature,X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy results indicated the changes in crystallinity and morphology including particle size,respectively.Notably,the reduction in particle size of the synthesized KFeO_(2) was found to have a remarkable influence on the magnetic properties.At room temperature,the synthesized KFeO_(2) nanoparticles prepared at 873 K exhibited the highest saturation magnetization(M_(S))of 2.07×10^(4) A·m^(−1).In addition,the coercivity(H_(c))increased from 3.51 to 16.89 kA·m^(−1) as the calcination temperature increased to 973 K.The zero-field cooled(ZFc)results showed that the blocking temperatures(T_(B))of about 125 and 85 K were observed in the samples calcined at 773 and 873 K,respectively.Therefore,this work showed that the egg white solution method is simple,cost effective,and environmentally friendly for the preparation of KFeO_(2) nanoparticles.

AIM To investigate whether consumption of an energy drink will acutely impair endothelial function in young healthy adults. METHODS Energy drinks are being consumed more and more worldwide, and have been associated with some deaths in adolescents and young adults, especially when consumed while exercising. After fasting and not smoking for at least 8 h prior, eleven medical students(9 males) received an electrocardiogram, blood pressure and pulse check, and underwent baseline testing(BL) of endothelial function using the technique of endothelium-dependent flow mediated dilatation(FMD) with high-resolution ultrasound(according to recommended guidelines of the University of Wisconsin Atherosclerosis Imaging Research Program core Laboratory). The subjects then drank an energy beverage(EB), a 24-oz can of Monster Energy, and the above was repeated at 90 min after consumption. The relative FMD(%) was calculated as the ratio between the average post-cuff release and the baseline diameter. Each image was checked for quality control, and each artery diameter was measured from the media to media points by two experts, 3 measurements at the QRS complex, repeated on 3 separate beats, and then all were averaged.RESULTS Subjects characteristics averages(given with standard deviations) include: Age 24.5 ± 1.5 years, sex 9 male and 2 female, weight 71.0 ± 9.1 kg, height 176.4 ± 6.0 cm, BMI 22.8 ± 2.7 kg/m^2. The hemodynamics were as follows, BL vs EB group respectively(mean ± SD): Heart rate 65.2 ± 11.3 vs 68.2 ± 11.8 beats per minute, systolic blood pressure 114.0 ± 10.4 mmH g vs 114.1 ± 10.4 mmH g, diastolic blood pressure 68.8 ± 9.3 mmH g vs 70.6 ± 7.1 mmH g; all were not significantly different. However after drinking the EB, a significantly attenuated peak FMD response was measured(mean ± SD): BL group 5.9% ± 4.6% vs EB group 1.9% ± 2.1%; P = 0.03). Nowadays, the use of Radio Frequency Identification （RFID） systems in industry and stores has increased Nevertheless, some of these systems present privacy problems that may discourage potential users. Hence, high confidence and efficient privacy protocols are urgently needed. Previous studies in the literature proposed schemes that are proven to be secure, but they have scalability problems. A feasible and scalable protocol to guarantee privacy is presented in this paper. The proposed protocol uses elliptic curve cryptography combined with a zero knowledge-based authentication scheme. An analysis to prove the system secure, and even forward secure is also provided.

城市交通出行方式和出行目的地的选择与新型冠状病毒的传播具有关联性.本研究基于2020年2~12月期间,苹果和谷歌公司记录的全球58个城市的交通出行报告,通过多变量时间序列分析,研究了城市交通出行行为对每日确诊病例的影响.研究发现,在全球尺度,与出行目的地相关的行为活动对每日确诊病例的贡献最大,其次是传染源和出行方式.在三类出行方式中,开车是最安全的通勤方式.而在一些大城市,步行的风险显著提高.虽然公众对乘坐公共交通比较担心,但该出行方式在部分城市反而是相对安全的.在六类出行目的地中,与车站和工作地相关的活动对疫情的传播贡献最大,而与药店和公园相关的活动对疫情传播的贡献最小.同时发现,建城区人口密度和口罩使用率在不同时期对病毒传播的影响具有差异性.该研究有助于为交通出行政策的制定提供依据,有助于市政在控制和预防病毒流行的同时保持城市开放.
