Air temperature and photoperiod play an important role in the seedling development for tropical forest *** variables are sensitive to climate,and so evaluating thermal and photoperiodic effects on seedling development is fundamental,espec.a.ly for climate c.a.ge *** to quantify thermal time and the energy required for plants to reach a development stage include air temperature and cardinal *** photoperiod will also affect physiological reactions of a plant and thus its *** we evaluated the six thermal time methods widely used to compute thermal requirement,and identified the influence of the photoperiod from the 2015 and2016 growing seasons and 12 sowing dates in Itajubá,Minas Gerais state,Brazil,on seedling development of three native tropical forest species Psidium guajava L.(Myrtac.a.),citharexylum myrianthum c.a..(Verbenac.a.),and Bixa orellana L.(Bixac.a.).The method used to quantify thermal time influenced the analytical results of seedling development;the one that considered three cardinal temperatures and compared them with the mean air temperature(Method5)performed better in computing thermal *** influence of photoperiod on seedling development was inconclusive for the three species,but all three developed better in mild temperatures(between 13.3℃and 26.9℃)with a photoperiod shorter than 13 h.

This work presents the design of a robust foam formulation that tolerates harsh reservoir conditions(high salinity,high divalent ion concentration,high temperature,light oil,and hydrocarbon injection gas)in a sandstone *** this,we selected anionic.a.pha Olefin sulfonate(AOs)surfac.a.ts and studied their synergistic effects in mixtures with zwitterionic betaines to enhance foam *** laboratory workflow used to define the best formulation followed a de-risking approach in three consecutive ***,(phase 1)the main surfac.a.t(AOs)was selected among a series of commerc.a. candidates in static ***,(phase 2)the betaine booster to be combined with the previously selected AOs was chosen and their ratio optimized in static ***,(phase 3)the surfac.a.t/booster ratio was optimized under dynamic conditions in a porous medium in the absence and the presence of *** a result of this study,a mixture of an AOs c14-c16 and cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine(cAPHs)was selected as the one having the best *** designed formulation was proven to be robust in a wide range of *** generated a strong and stable foam at reservoir conditions,overcoming variations in salinity and foam quality,and tolerated the presence of oil.

Two different non_Newtonian models for blood flow are considered,first a simple power law model displaying shear thinning viscosity,and second a generalized Maxwell model displaying both shear thinning viscosity and oscillating flow viscous_*** models are used along with a Newtonian model to study sinusoidal flow of blood in rigid and elastic straight arteries in the presence of magnetic *** elasticity of blood does not appear to influence its flow behavior under physiological conditions in the large arteries,purely viscous shear thinning model should be quite realistic for simulating blood flow under these *** using the power law model with high shear rate for sinusoidal flow simulation in elastic.a.teries,the mean and amplitude of the flow rate were found to be lower for a power law fluid compared to Newtonian fluid for the same pressure *** governing equations have been solved by c.a.k_Niclson *** results are interpreted in the context of blood in the elastic.a.teries keeping the magnetic effects in *** physiological flow simulation in the aorta,an increase in mean wall shear stress,but a reduction in peak wall shear stress were observed for power law model compared to a Newtonian fluid model for matched flow rate wave *** flow in the presence of transverse magnetic field in an elastic.a.tery is investigated and the influence of factors such as morphology and surface irregularity is evaluated.

N-11-azaartemisinins potentially active against Plasmodium falciparum are designed by combining molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), ligand-receptor interaction, and models built with supervised machine learning methods (PcA, HcA, KNN, sIMcA, and sDA). The optimization of molecular structures was performed using the B3LYP/6-31G* approach. MEP maps and ligand-receptor interactions were used to investigate key structural features required for biological activities and likely interactions between N-11-azaartemisinins and heme, respectively. The supervised machine learning methods allowed the separation of the investigated compounds into two c.a.ses: c.a.and c.a. with the properties εsub>LUMO+1sub> (one level above lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy), d(csub>6sub>-csub>5sub>) (distance between csub>6sub> and csub>5sub> atoms in ligands), and TsA (total surface area) responsible for the c.a.sification. The insights extracted from the investigation developed and the chemical intuition enabled the design of sixteen new N-11-azaartemisinins (prediction set), moreover, models built with supervised machine learning methods were applied to this prediction set. The result of this application showed twelve new promising N-11-azaartemisinins for synthesis and biological evaluation.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAs collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks assoc.a.ed with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
