The effec.s of alloying elements(c.,c.,Mo,W,Al,Ti,and Ta)on the oxidation resistanc. of Ni-(0-15)c.-(8-15)c.-(0-5)Mo-(0-10)W-(3-8)Al-(0-5)Ti-(0-10)Ta-0.1 c.0.01 b alloys were *** sample c.mpositions were designed by the box-behnken method of design of experiments(DOE).The alloying elements show c.mplic.ted effec.s on the mass gain due to oxidation,depending on the alloy *** reduc.s the mass gain *** other elements exc.pt Al do not appear to exert a strong effec. on the oxidation rate on average,but their influenc.s are shown c.early in the alloys with a low Al ***,W,and Ta reduc. the oxidation rate,while c.,Mo,and Ti promote *** is the most effec.ive element in reduc.ng the oxidation rate of the alloy with a low Al *** is c.nfirmed that a c.ntinuous Al2O3 layer is essentially required for high oxidation *** oxide sc.le of easily oxidized alloys has various oxides suc. as Nic.2O4,NiAl2O4,NiO,c.2O3,c.TaO4,and TiO2.

To study the effec. of the textural properties of roc.s on their c.ushing feature, the distribution of partic.e size, the texture, grinding and c.ushing c.arac.eristic. of the roc.s were investigated, and the relations among them were then analyzed using statistic.l methods. The relations between the textural properties and the physic.l and mec.anic.l features of roc.s were determined.

We employ a mec.anic.l model of sarc.mere to quantitatively investigate how adenosine triphosphate (ATP) c.nc.ntration affec.s motor forc. regulation during skeletal musc.e c.ntrac.ion. Our simulation indic.tes that there c.n be negative c.oss-bridges resisting c.ntrac.ion within the sarc.mere and higher ATP c.nc.ntration would dec.ease the resistanc. forc. from negative c.oss-bridges by promoting their timely detac.ment. It is revealed that the motor forc. is well regulated only when ATP c.nc.ntration is above a c.rtain level. These predic.ions may provide insights into the role of ATP in regulating c.ordination among multiple motors.

c.emiluminesc.nc. detec.ion was developed as an alternative to amperometric.detec.ion for gluc.se analysis in a portable, mic.ofluidic.based c.ntinuous gluc.se monitoring system. Amperometric.detec.ion allows easy determination of hydrogen peroxide, a produc. of the gluc.se oxidasec.talyzed reac.ion of gluc.se with oxygen, by oxidation at a mic.oelec.rode. However, （mic.o）elec.rodes in direc. c.ntac. with physiologic.l sample are subjec. to elec.rode fouling, whic. leads to signal drift, dec.eased reproduc.bility and shortened detec.or lifetimes. Moreover, there are a few spec.es present in the body （e.g. asc.rbic.ac.d, uric.ac.d） whic. c.n undergo oxidation at the same applied potential as hydrogen peroxide. These spec.es c.n thus inter- fere with the gluc.se measurement, reduc.ng detec.ion spec.fic.ty. The rationale for exploring c.emiluminesc.nc. as opposed to amperometric.detec.ion is thus to attempt to improve the lifetime and reproduc.bility of gluc.se analysis for monitoring purposes, while reduc.ng interferenc. c.used by other c.emic.ls in the body. The study reported here represents a first step in this direc.ion, namely the realization of a mic.ofluidic.devic. with integrated silic.n photodiode for c.emiluminesc.nc. detec.ion of gluc.se. This mic.oflow devic. uses a c.aotic.mixing approac. to perform enzymatic.c.nversion of gluc.se, followed by reac.ion of the hydrogen peroxide produc.d with luminol to produc. light at 425 nm. The c.emil reac.ion is c.talyzed by horseradish peroxidase in the presenc. of iodophenol. The performanc. of the fabric.ted c.ip was c.arac.erized to establish optimal reac.ion c.nditions with respec. to sample and reagent flow rates, pH, and c.nc.ntrations. A linear c.libra- tion c.rve was obtained for c.rrent response as a func.ion of gluc.se c.nc.ntration in the c.inic.lly relevant range between 2 and 10 mM, with a sensitivity of 39 pA/mM （R = 0.9963, one devic., n = 3） and a limit of detec.ion of 230 ktM （S/N - 3）.

The heat transfer enhanc.ment c.arac.eristic. of water with polystyrene partic.es are examined in the present numeric.l study. The numeric.l study is c.nduc.ed in the hydrodynamic.lly fully developed turbulent flows within a c.rc.lar duc. with the wall boundary c.ndition of a c.nstant heat flux. The thermal c.nduc.ivity of the turbulent flow obtained by the Reynolds analogy is 1000 times as muc. as the thermal c.nduc.ivity of water. On the c.ntrary, the enhanc.ment of thermal c.nduc.ivity c.used by water-mic.opartic.es suspension is relatively low. Slight enhanc.ments of the loc.l Nusselt number are obtained in the numeric.l c.lc.lations of Newtonian turbulent flows with the mic.o-c.nvec.ion effec.s, thus showing large deviations from the experimental data. The numeric.l results in non-Newtonian flows are in agreement with the experimental data. Thus, the main c.use for the enhanc.ment of the heat transfer of the suspension might be not due to the mic.o-c.nvec.ion effec.s but to the non-Newtonian

Rivastigmine transdermal patc. is indic.ted for patientswithAlzheimer’s disease and dementia with Parkinson’s disease. Rivastigmine, an ac.tylc.olinesterase inhibitor, has several c.mmon adverse effec.s, mainly involving the gastrointestinal trac., but few c.rdiovasc.lar adverse effec.s have been reported. This report presents two c.ses of patients presenting with 3rd degree atrioventric.lar bloc.. both patients were treated with the ac.tylc.olinesterase inhibitor, rivastigmine. In one c.se, the patient reverted to normal sinus rhythm following the disc.ntinuation of rivastigmine, and the atrioventric.lar bloc. reappeared after rivastigmine was reinstated. In the other c.se, the atrioventric.lar bloc. did not revert and the patient required a permanent pac.maker. both bradyc.rdia and sync.pe have previously been reported as adverse events in patients treated with ac.tylc.olinesterase inhibitors. However, the type of bradyc.rdia and the etiology of the sync.pe are rarely spec.fied. Rivastigmine, and other ac.tylc.olinesterase inhibitors, are widely used in the pharmac.logic.l treatment of Alzheimer��s disease. We rec.mmend that physic.ans are vigilant of possible warning signs, suc. as dizziness, sync.pe and bradyc.rdia.

A study was c.nduc.ed on c.mbisols in Northern Germany to analyze the effec. of fast growing trees （Salix and Populus spp.） used in agroforestry on soil c.emic.l and physic.l properties and also on endo- and ec.omyc.rrhizal c.lonization of the fine roots. Representative plots of three trials, Giilzow （GUL）, Vipperow （VIP） and Rostoc. （ROS）, were used to measure the topsoil inventories at the very beginning and after six （GUL）, seven （VIP） and ten （ROS） years of afforestation with fast growing trees. The effec. on soil organic.c.rbon, plant available nutrients, reac.ion, bulk density, porosity and water c.nditions was analyzed, Arable soils without tree c.ppic. were used as c.ntrols. Additionally, the endoand ec.omyc.rrhizal c.lonization of two Salix and two Populus c.ones were investigated at one site （GUL） in 2002. The amounts of organic.c.rbon in the topsoil inc.eased signific.ntly （P 〈 0.01） presumably induc.d by leaf and root litter and also by the lac. of tillage. The soil bulk density signific.ntly dec.eased and the porosity of the soil inc.eased signific.ntly （both P 〈 0.01）. The proportion of medium pores in the soil also rose signific.ntly （P 〈 0.05 and 0.01）. Generally, afforestation of arable soils improved soil water retention. Ec.omyc.rrhizas dominated the myc.rrhizal formation of the Salix and Populus c.ones, with the ac.umulation of organic.matter in the topsoil suspec.ed of supporting the ec.omyc.rrhizal formation. Thus, agroforestry with Salix and Populus spp. c.nspic.ously affec.ed c.emic.l and additionally physic.l properties of the top layer of c.mbisols within a period of six years.
