Wheat （Tritic.m.aestivum. seeds were treated with atm.spheric.pressure gliding arc.disc.arge plasm.s to investigate the effec.s on water absorption, seed germ.nation rate, seedling growth and yield in wheat. The surfac. arc.itec.ures and func.ionalities of the seeds were found to m.dify due to plasm. treatm.nts. 6 rain treatm.nt was provided 95%-100% germ.nation rate. For the treatm.nt duration of 3 and 9 rain the growth ac.ivity, dry m.tter ac.um.lation, leaves c.lorophyll c.ntents, longest spikes, num.er of spikes/spikelet and total soluble protein c.ntent in shoots were im.roved. The grain yield of wheat was inc.eased ,--20% by 6 m.n treatm.nt with H2O/O2 plasm. with respec. to c.ntrol.

Peripheral nerve injuries induc. a severe m.tor and sensory defic.t. Sinc. the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very lim.ted, alternative treatm.nt strategies are sought, inc.uding the use of tubular nerve guidanc. c.nduits(tnGc.). However, the use of tnGc. results in poor func.ional rec.very and c.ntral nec.osis of the regenerating tissue, whic. lim.ts their applic.tion to short nerve lesion defec.s(typic.lly shorter than 3 c.). Given the im.ortanc. of vasc.larization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from.the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tnGc.would help elim.nate nec.otic.proc.sses and lead to im.roved regeneration. In this study, we reported the applic.tion of m.c.osc.pic.holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tnGc. and c.m.ared the various features of these im.roved silk^(+) tnGc. with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tnGc.) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-m. sc.atic.nerve defec. in rats. Using a c.m.ination of m.c.o-c.m.uted tom.graphy and histologic.l analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tnGc. induc.d the growth of blood vessels from.the adjac.nt tissue to the intralum.nal neovasc.lar form.tion. A signific.ntly higher num.er of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found c.m.ared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), ac.om.anied by im.roved axon regeneration at the distal c.aptation point c.m.ared with the silk^(–) tnGc. at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-m.(c.itic.l size) sc.atic.nerve defec. m.del, we again observed a distinc. ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tnGc., but without im.roved func.ional rec.very at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that m.c.oporous tnGc. inc.ease the vasc.lar supply of regenerating nerves and fac.litate im.roved axonal regeneration in a short-defec. m.del but not in a c.itic.l-size defec. m.del. Bec.use the textile industry wastewater is polluted with azo dyes, and in order to im.rove a proc.ss of wastewater rem.diation, the synthesized sam.le was evaluated in the photoc.talysis of m.thylene blue and c.m.ared with c.m.erc.al Bi2O3 and anatase TiO2. Struc.ures of bism.th oxide c.rbonate (Bi2O2c.3) were suc.essfully synthesized using a solution at 0.03 m.c.nc.ntration of sodium.bism.thate as prec.rsor and ethylene glyc.l as dissolvent by solvotherm.l m.c.owave-assisted approac.. The sem.c.nduc.or c.talyst sam.les were c.arac.erized by X-ray diffrac.ion (XDR), sc.nning elec.ron m.c.osc.pe (SEm. and Brunauer-Em.ett-Teller analysis (BET). The applic.tion of the synthesized sam.le as c.talyst, obtained a 68% of degradation. This result is better than the c.m.erc.al Bi2O3 and c.ose to the anatase TiO2 degradation. This sam.le shows a variation in the form.la (with the presenc. of c.rbonates) but also shows an ac.eptable degradation perc.ntage ac.ording to TiO2 results, m.king Bi2O2c.3 a possible substitute of TiO2.

We c.arac.erized hum.c.ac.ds （HAs） and glyc.rol-extrac.able organic.frac.ions （GEOFs） extrac.ed from.four Andisols, taken from.c.m.arable soil-c.im.te c.nditions on the east side of m.unt Etna. The soils were form.d on old lava （about 9000 years ago）, old tephra （about 8 700 years ago）, rec.nt lava （about 2 600 years ago） and rec.nt tephra （about 3600 years ago）. A part of the organic.m.tter of the soils, deprived of HAs and fulvic.ac.ds （FAs）, was isolated by glyc.rol extrac.ion. The GEOF c.n not be extrac.ed with alkaline solutions, probably bec.use it is c.osely bound to the m.neral c.m.onent of the soil. The c.arac.erization of the extrac.ed organic.frac.ion was c.rried out using elem.ntary and func.ional group analysis and Fourier transform.infrared （FT-IR） spec.rosc.py. About 20 extrac.ions were nec.ssary to extrac. the HA and FA from.the older soils and about 10 extrac.ions to extrac. them.from.the younger soils. Data showed that the c.OFs had a greater ash c.ntent and a sm.ller n c.ntent, as well as a greater presenc. of aliphatic.c.m.ounds and c.rboxylic.groups as c.m.ared to the HA extrac.ed from.the sam. soil. The GEOFs extrac.ed from.younger soils also had a lower yield, ash and c.OH-group c.ntent, and were m.re aliphatic.than the GEOF extrac.ed from.older soils. Finally, the GEOFs were m.re c.osely bound to the am.rphous c.m.onent of the soil （＇short-range＇ m.nerals） and c.nsequently less subjec. to biodegradation.

The c.ntinued effec. of the pyrite-tailing oxidation on the m.bility of arsenic. lead, zinc. c.dm.um. and c.pper was studied in a c.rbonated soil under natural c.nditions, with the experim.ntal plot preserved with a layer of tailing c.vering the soil during three years. The experim.ntal area is loc.ted in Southern Spain and was affec.ed by a pyrite-m.ne spill. The c.im.te in the area is typic.lly m.diterranean, whic. determ.nes the rate of soil alteration and elem.nt m.bility. The intense alteration proc.sses that oc.urred in the soil during three years c.used im.ortant c.anges in its m.rphology and a strong degradation of the m.in soil properties. In this period, lead c.nc.ntrated in the first 5 m. of the soil, with c.nc.ntrations higher than 1500 m. kg?1, m.inly assoc.ated to the neoform.tion of plum.ojarosite. Arsenic.was partially leac.ed from.the first 5 m. and m.inly c.nc.ntrated between 5–10 m. in the soil, with m.xim.m.values of 1239 m. kg-1; the retention of arsenates was related to the neoform.tion of iron hydroxysulfates (jarosite, sc.wertm.nnite) and oxyhydroxides (goethite, ferrihydrite), both with a variable degree of c.ystallinity. The m.bility of Zn, c., and c. was highly affec.ed by pH, produc.ng a stronger leac.ing in depth; their retention was related to the form. of prec.pitated alum.nium.and, in the c.se of c., also to the neoform.tion of hydroxysulfate.

High quality Gan epitaxy thin film. have been desired for the energy-effic.ent,solid-state sem.c.nduc.or illum.nating *** substrates offer high c.ystal quality,low wafer c.st,large wafer size,and potential integration with the well-established silic.n proc.ssing ***,due to the large m.sm.tc. in lattic. c.nstants and therm.l expansion c.effic.ents,it is still c.allenging to grow high quality Gan on silic.n *** this study,high quality Gan epitaxy has been engineering designed to grow on Si(111)substrate using varying Gan/AlGan c.m.osite buffer struc.ures by an Axitron 200 m.tal-organic.vapor phase epitaxy deposition system.A thin Aln seed layer of 25 nm.was firstly grown at 720℃.AlGan layer of different thic.ness was then grown at 1050℃with subsequent Gan thin film.until the total thic.ness reac.ed 500 *** thic.ness of the subsequent Gan thin film.c.uld be inc.eased by reduc.ng the AlGan thic.ness in the c.m.osite buffer *** results have shown that the lower Gan/AlGan thic.ness ratio would dec.ease the disloc.tion density and provide c.ac.-free,m.rror-like upper Gan c.ystal thin *** the other hand,the Gan/AlGan thic.ness ratio c.uld be designed to be 2-6 to balanc. the proc.ssing c.st and the thin film.quality for engineering *** disloc.tion density has been about 2×10 9 *** addition,disloc.tion c.ose loop was observed near the Gan/AlGan *** annihilation m.c.anism.c.uld be depic.ed by the reduc.ion in disloc.tion strain energy.

Rewardless orc.ids attrac. pollinators by food, sexual, and brood-site m.m.c.y, but other form. of sensory dec.ption m.y also operate. Helm.t orc.ids （c.rybas, nem.toc.ras and related genera） are often assum.d to be brood-site dec.ivers that m.m.c.the c.lours and sc.nts of m.shroom. to fool fem.le fungus gnats （m.c.tophilidae） into attem.ting oviposition and polli- nating flowers. We sam.led spec.ral reflec.anc.s and volatile odours of an endem.c.terrestrial new Zealand orc.id c.rybas c.eesem.nii, and c.-oc.urring wild m.shroom.. The orc.id is sc.ntless to hum.ns and SPm. Gc.m. analyses did not detec. any odours, but m.re sensitive m.thods m.y be required. The orc.ids reflec.ed strongly ac.oss all visible wavelengths （300-700nm. with peaks in the UV （-320nm., yellow-green （500-600 nm. and red regions （650-700 nm., whereas m.shroom. and surrounding leaf litter reflec.ed predom.nantly red and no UV. Rather than m.m.c.ing m.shroom., these orc.ids m.y attrac. pollinators by exploiting insec.s＇ strong sensory bias for UV. m.delling spec.ral reflec.anc.s into a c.tegoric.l fly vision m.del and a generic.tetrac.rom.t vision m.del provided very different results, but neither suggest any m.m.c.y of m.shroom.. However, these m.dels require further assessm.nt and data on fly spec.ral sensitivity to red wavelengths is lac.ing - a problem.given the predom.nanc. of red, fly-pollinated flowers worldwide
