Energy-storage systems and their produc.ion have attrac.ed signific.nt interest for prac.ic.l *** are the foundation of sustainable energy sourc.s for elec.ric.vehic.es(EVs),portable elec.ronic.devic.s(PEDs),*** rec.nt dec.des,Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) have been extensively utilized in largesc.le energy storage devic.s owing to their long c.c.e life and high energy ***,the high c.st and limited availability of Li are the two main obstac.es for *** this regard,sodium-ion batteries(SIBs) are attrac.ive alternatives to LIBs for large-sc.le energy storage systems bec.use of the abundanc. and low c.st of sodium *** is one of the most important c.mponents in the battery,whic. limits c.st and performanc. of a *** the c.assified c.thode struc.ures,layered struc.ure materials have attrac.ed attention bec.use of their high ionic.c.nduc.ivity,fast diffusion rate,and high spec.fic.***,we present a c.mprehensive review of the c.assific.tion of layered struc.ures and the preparation of layered ***,the review artic.e disc.sses extensively about the issues of the layered materials,namely(1) elec.roc.emic.l degradation,(2) irreversible struc.ural c.anges,and(3) struc.ural instability,and also it provides strategies to overc.me the issues suc. as elemental phase c.mposition,a small amount of elemental doping,struc.ural design,and surfac. alteration for emerging *** addition,the artic.e disc.sses about the rec.nt researc. development on layered unary,binary,ternary,quaternary,quinary,and senary-based O3-and P2-type c.thode materials for high-energy *** review artic.e provides useful information for the development of high-energy layered sodium transition metal oxide P2 and O3-c.thode materials for prac.ic.l SIBs.

The func.ionalities and diverse metastable phases of multiferroic.BiFeO3(BFO)thin films depend on the misfit *** mixed phase-induc.d strain relaxation in multiphase BFO thin films is well known,it is unc.ear whether a singlec.ystalline BFO thin film c.n ac.ommodate misfit strain without the involvement of its ***,understanding the strain relaxation behavior is key to eluc.dating the lattic. strain–property *** this study,a c.rrelative strain analysis based on dark-field inline elec.ron holography(DIH)and quantitative sc.nning transmission elec.ron mic.osc.py(STEM)was performed to reveal the struc.ural mec.anism for strain ac.ommodation of a single-c.ystalline BFO thin *** nanosc.le DIH strain analysis results indic.ted a random c.mbination of multiple strain states that ac.ed as a primary strain relief,forming irregularly strained *** STEM-based bond length measurement of the c.rresponding strained nanodomains revealed a unique strain ac.ommodation behavior ac.ieved by a statistic.l c.mbination of multiple modes of distorted struc.ures on the unit-c.ll *** globally integrated strain for eac. nanodomain was estimated to be c.ose to􀀀1.5%,irrespec.ive of the nanosc.le strain states,whic. was c.nsistent with the fully strained BFO film on the SrTiO3 *** func.ional theory c.lc.lations suggested that strain ac.ommodation by the c.mbination of metastable phases was energetic.lly favored c.mpared to single-phase-mediated *** disc.very allows a c.mprehensive understanding of strain ac.ommodation behavior in ferroelec.ric.oxide films,suc. as BFO,with various low-symmetry polymorphs.

The trade-off between effic.enc. and stability has limited the applic.tion of TiO_(2)as a c.talyst due to its poor surfac. ***,we present a modific.tion of a TiO_(2)layer with highly stable Sub-5 nm Fe_(2)O_(3)nanopartic.es(NP)by modulating its struc.ure-surfac. reac.ivity relationship to attain effic.enc.-stability balanc. via a voltage-assisted oxidation *** situ simultaneous oxidation of the Ti substrate and Fe prec.rsor using high-energy plasma driven by high voltage resulted in uniform distribution of Fe_(2)O_(3)NP embedded within porous TiO_(2)*** surfac. c.arac.erizations with density func.ional theory demonstrated an improved elec.ronic.transition in TiO_(2)due to the presenc. of surfac. defec.s from reac.ive oxygen spec.es and possible c.arge transfer from Ti to Fe;it also unexpec.edly inc.eased the ac.ive site in the TiO_(2)layer due to unc.ordinated elec.rons in Sub-5 nm Fe_(2)O_(3)NP/TiO_(2)c.talyst,thereby enhanc.ng the adsorption of c.emic.l func.ional groups on the *** unique embedded struc.ure exhibited remarkable improvement in reduc.ng 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol,ac.ieving approximately 99%effic.enc. in 20 min without stability dec.y after 20 c.nsec.tive c.c.es,outperforming previously reported TiO_(2)-based *** finding proposes a modified-elec.roc.emic.l strategy enabling fac.le c.nstruc.ion of TiO_(2)with nanosc.le oxides extandable to other metal oxide systems.
