I c.nsider, in a Quantum Field Theory theoretic.l approac., the effec.s of an elec.romagnetic.field on the c.mponents of the total angular momentum of an elementary fermion system, assuming the “minimal” form of the relative interac.ion. When the elec.romagnetic.field c.n be treated as a c.assic.l one, these effec.s are partic.larly simple to be c.mputed and exhibit a number of very general c.arac.eristic.features in the c.se of a c.nstant magnetic.field. A qualitative possible analogy with similar features of an elementary organic.system is finally proposed.
