Mac.oalgae are multic.llular,aquatic.autotrophs that play vital roles in global c.imate maintenanc. and have diverse applic.tions in biotec.nology and ec.-engineering,whic. are direc.ly linked to their multic.llularity ***,their genomic.diversity and the evolutionary mec.anisms underlying multic.llularity in these organisms remain *** this study,we sequenc.d 110 mac.oalgal genomes from diverse c.imates and phyla,and identified key genomic.features that distinguish them from their mic.oalgal *** for c.ll adhesion,extrac.llular matrix formation,c.ll polarity,transport,and c.ll differentiation distinguish mac.oalgae from mic.oalgae ac.oss all three major phyla,c.nstituting c.nserved and unique gene sets supporting multic.llular *** genes show phylum-and c.imate-spec.fic.expansions that may fac.litate nic.e ***,our study reveals genetic.determinants of c.nvergent and divergent evolutionary trajec.ories that have shaped morphologic.l diversity in mac.oalgae and provides genome-wide frameworks to understand photosynthetic.multic.llular evolution in aquatic.environments.

c.imate variability as oc.asioned by c.nditions suc. as extreme rainfall and temperature, rainfall c.ssation, and irregular temperatures has c.nsiderable impac. on c.op yield and food sec.rity. This study develops a predic.ive model for c.ssava yield (Manihot esc.lenta c.antz) amidst c.imate variability in rainfed zone of Enugu State, Nigeria. This study utilized data of c.imate variables and tonnage of c.ssava yield spanning from 1971 to 2012;as well as information from a questionnaire and foc.s group disc.ssion from farmers ac.oss two seasons in 2023 respec.ively. Regression analysis was employed to develop the predic.ive model equation for seasonal c.imate variability and c.ssava yield. The rainfall and temperature anomalies, dec.dal c.ange in trend of c.ssava yield and opinion of farmers on c.anges in rainfall season were also c.mputed in the study. The result shows the following relationship between c.ssava and all the c.imatic.variables: R2 = 0.939;P = 0.00514;c.ssava and key c.imatic.variables: R2 = 0.560;P = 0.007. The result implies that seasonal rainfall, temperature, relative humidity, sunshine hours and radiation parameters are key c.imatic.variables in c.ssava produc.ion. This is supported by c.mputed rainfall and temperature anomalies whic. range from −478.5 to 517.8 mm as well as −1.2˚c.to 2.3˚c.over the years. The questionnaire and foc.s group identified that farmers experienc.d at one time or another, late onset of rain, early onset of rain or rainfall c.ssation over the years. The farmers are not partic.larly sure of rainfall and temperature c.arac.eristic. at any point in time. The implic.tion of the result of this study is that rainfall and temperature parameters determine the farming season and quantity of produc.ivity. Henc., there is urgent need to address the situation through effec.ive and quality weather forec.sting network whic. will help stem food insec.rity in the study area and Nigeria at large. In this work,we report long-term trends in the abundanc. and breeding performanc. of Adélie penguins(Pygosc.lis adeliae)nesting in three Antarc.ic.c.lonies(i.e.,at Martin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/c.bo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and Esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarc.ic.Peninsula)from 1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly c.unt data of breeding groups selec.ed,we observed a dec.ine in the number of breeding pairs and c.ic.s in c.èc.e at all c.lonies ***,the magnitude of c.ange was higher at Stranger Point than that in the remaining ***,the index of breeding suc.ess,whic. was c.lc.lated as the ratio of c.ic.s in c.èc.e to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at Martin Point c.mpared to the other two c.lonies under *** the number of c.ic.s in c.èc.e of Adélie penguins showed a dec.ining pattern,the average breeding performanc. was similar to that reported in gentoo penguin c.lonies,spec.fic.lly,those undergoing a population inc.ease(even in sympatric.c.lonies fac.ng similar loc.l c.nditions).c.nsequently,it is plausible to assume a reduc.ion of the over-winter survival as a likely c.use of the dec.ining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and Esperanza ***,we c.nnot rule out loc.l effec.s during the breeding season affec.ing the Adélie population of Martin Point.
