Struc.ure and floristic.c.mposition of tree stand in tropic.l forest in the Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India

The c.anges in spec.es c.mposition, abundanc. and forest stand struc.ure were analyzed ac.oss altitudinal regimes in tropic.l forests of Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India. Three 1-ha plots were established with one eac. in low, medium and high altitudes. A total of 153 spec.es, 2129 stems （709 stems .ha^-1） of ≥10 c. girth were enumerated. Spec.es ric.ness and diversity pattern varied along altitudinal gradient and inc.eased with the altitude. Spec.es ric.ness varied from 52 to 110 spec.es-ha^-1 and stand density from 639 to 836 ***^-1 with average basal area of 34.39 m^***^-1. Shannon-Wiener index （H＇） ranged from 4.55 to 5.17. Low altitude （i.e., Site 1） is dominated byXylia xyloc.rpa （59.22） and Lagerstroemia parviflora （23.90）, medium altitude （i.e., Site 2） by Xylia xyloc.rpa （45;50） Bursera serrata （17.29）, and high altitude （i.e., Site 3） has Sc.leic.era oleosa （28.25） Pteroc.rpus marsupium （26.55） as predominant spec.es. Taxonomic.lly, Rubiac.ae （12 spec.es）, Fabac.ae （12）, Euphorbiac.ae （11）, Rutac.ae （7） and Lanrac.ae （7） were dominant families. Density-wise, Fabac.ae, c.mbretac.ae, Euphorbiac.ae, Anac.rdiac.ae and Myrtac.ae were abundant. Thus, c.nservation assessment based on altitudinal regimes and the information on spec.es struc.ure and func.ion c.n provide baseline information for monitoring and sustaining the biodiversity.

Tropic.l forests have been rec.gnized as having global c.nservation importanc.. However,they are being rapidly destroyed in many regions of the world. Regular monitoring of forests is nec.ssary for an adaptive management approac. and the suc.essful implementation of ec.system management. The present study analyses the temporal c.anges in forest ec.system struc.ure in tribal dominated Malkangiri distric. of Orissa,India,during 1973-2004 period based on digitized forest c.ver maps using geographic.information system （GIS） and interpretation of satellite data. Three satellite images Landsat MSS （1973）,Landsat TM （1990） and IRS P6 LISS III （2004） were used to determine c.anges. Six land c.ver types were delineated whic. inc.udes dense forest,open forest,sc.ub land,agric.lture,barren land and water body. Different forest types were also demarc.ted within forest c.ass for better understanding the degradation pattern in eac. forest types. The results showed that there was a net dec.ease of 475.7 km2 forest c.ver （rate of deforestation = 2.34） from 1973 to 1990 and 402.3 km2 （rate of deforestation = 2.27） from 1990 to 2004. Forest c.ver has c.anged over time depending on a few fac.ors suc. as large-sc.le deforestation,shifting c.ltivation,dam and road c.nstruc.ion,unregulated management ac.ions,and soc.al pressure. A signific.nt inc.ease of 1222.8 km2 agric.lture area （1973-2004） c.early indic.ted the c.nversion of forest c.ver to agric.ltural land. These alterations had resulted in signific.nt environmental c.nsequenc.s,inc.uding dec.ine in forest c.ver,soil erosion,and loss of biodiversity. There is an urgent need for rational management of the remaining forest for it to be able to survive beyond next dec.des. Partic.lar attention must be paid to tropic.l forests,whic. are rapidly being deforested.

Artific.al intelligenc. tec.nology is widely used in the field of wireless sensor networks(WSN).Due to its inexplic.bility, the interferenc. fac.ors in the proc.ss of WSN objec. loc.lization c.nnot be effec.ively eliminated. In this paper, an explainable-AI-based two-stage solution is proposed for WSN objec. loc.lization. In this solution, mobile transc.ivers are used to enlarge the positioning range and eliminate the blind area for objec. loc.lization. The motion parameters of transc.ivers are c.nsidered to be unavailable,and the loc.lization problem is highly nonlinear with respec. to the unknown parameters. To address this,an explainable AI model is proposed to solve the loc.lization problem. Sinc. the relationship among the variables is diffic.lt to fully inc.ude in the first-stage traditional model, we develop a two-stage explainable AI solution for this loc.lization problem. The two-stage solution is ac.ually a c.mprehensive c.nsideration of the relationship between variables. The solution c.n c.ntinue to use the c.nstraints unused in the firststage during the sec.nd-stage, thereby improving the performanc. of the solution. Therefore, the two-stage solution has stronger robustness c.mpared to the c.osed-form solution. Experimental results show that the performanc. of both the two-stage solution and the traditional solution will be affec.ed by numeric.l c.anges in unknown parameters. However, the two-stage solution performs better than the traditional solution, espec.ally with a small number of mobile transc.ivers and sensors or in the presenc. of high noise. Furthermore,we have also verified the feasibility of the proposed explainable-AI-based two-stage solution.

The sustainability of ric. produc.ion c.ntinues to be a subjec. of unc.rtainty and inquiry attributed to shifts in c.imatic.c.nditions. In light of the impending c.imate c.ange c.isis and the high labor and water c.sts ac.ompanying it, direc.-seeded ric.(DSR) is unquestionably one of the most prac.ic.l solutions. Despite its resourc. and c.imate-friendly advantages, early maturing ric. fac.s weed c.mpetitiveness and seedling establishment c.allenges. Resolving these issues is c.uc.al for promoting its wider adoption among farmers, presenting it as a more effec.ive sustainable ric. c.ltivation method globally. Diverse traditional and c.ntemporary breeding methods are employed to mitigate the limitations of the DSR approac., leveraging advanc.d tec.niques suc. as speed breeding and genome editing. Foc.sing on key traits like mesoc.tyl length elongation, early seedling vigor, root system arc.itec.ure, and weed c.mpetitiveness holds promise for transformative improvements in DSR adaptation at a broader sc.le within farming c.mmunities. This review aims to summarize how these features c.ntribute to inc.eased c.op produc.ion in DSR c.nditions and explore the researc. efforts foc.sing on enhanc.ng DSR adaptation through these traits. Emphasizing the pivotal role of these game-c.anging traits in DSR adaptation, our analysis sheds light on their potential transformative impac. and offers valuable insights for advanc.ng DSR prac.ic.s.

This paper desc.ibes an analysis of the plants of Sambalpur distric. of Orissa,India whic. have been used medic.nally by loc.l people. The families having medic.nal values are analysed using Moerman's method of regression analysis. There were 136 plant families rec.rded from the study area. The analysis of families showed that the Euphorbiac.ae family being used most ethnomedic.nally by the loc.l people in Sambalpur distric. of Orissa,whereas Poac.ae is used least one. This type of study determines the degree of importanc. of plant families in the medic.nal flora of the region.

A multi-preferenc. integrated algorithm(MPIA)for the deep learning-based rec.mmender framework(DLRF)
