Bac.gro.nd: Inadequate antenatal c.re, bo.h in c.verage and standard, has been linked with po.r pregnanc. o.tc.mes. In a reso.rc. po.r setting, ho.e delivery is c.nsidered very c.eap, but the po.sible o.tc.me o. suc. pregnanc.es has been a subjec. o. interest. This study evaluated the asso.0}atio. o. bo.king status with pregnanc. o.tc.mes. o.jec.ives: To.examine the fac.o.s that influenc. bo.king and impac. o. the bo.king status o. pregnanc. o.tc.mes. Metho.s: This was a ho.pital-based pro.pec.ive c.ho.t study o. 240 (120 bo.ked and 120 un-bo.ked) pregnant mo.hers selec.ed thro.gh systematic.rando. sampling. The study was c.rried o.t at the Department o. o.stetric. and Gynaec.lo.y, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teac.ing Ho.pital Abakaliki, Nigeria. c.i-square test, t-test and lo.istic.regressio. were used fo. analysis. Results: The mean age o. the partic.pants was 30.39 ± 5.05 years and 29.05 ± 6.36 years respec.ively fo. the bo.ked and unbo.ked. Marital status (o. = 6.35, 95% c. = 1.24 - 32.59), educ.tio.al status (o. = 36.40, 95% c. = 5.26-152.83), plac. o. residenc. (o. = 0.15, 95% c. = 0.06 - 0.41), partner’s suppo.t (o. = 0.05, 95% c. = 0.01 - 0.37), family suppo.t (o. = 0.03, 95% c. = 0.01 - 0.13), mo.e o. delivery (o. = 0.23, 95% c. = 0.12 - 0.46), APGAR sc.re in first minute (o. = 6.02, 95% c. = 2.45 - 14.83) and NBIc. admissio. (o. = 3.75, 95% c. = 1.67 - 8.43) were asso.0}ated with bo.ked status. Ho.ever, being unmarried, nulliparity/grandmultiparity, lo. level o. educ.tio., blue c.lar jo.s, lo. inc.me, rural dwelling and po.r partner and po.r family suppo.t were asso.0}ated with the unbo.ked. The bo.ked parturients had a better perinatal o.tc.me c.mpared the unbo.ked. c.nc.usio./Rec.mmendatio.: There was high prevalenc. o. o.erative deliveries, perinatal mo.bidity and mo.tality amo.g the unbo.ked mo.hers. There is c.nsiderable c.nc.rn abo.t the po.ential impac. o. c.imate c.ange o. agric.lture, suc. as the ac.umulatio. o. c.illing ho.rs needed to.break the do.manc. o. many perennial plants, like fruit trees. Therefo.e, this study aimed to.determine if there had been a signific.nt c.ange in air temperatures and c.ill ho.rs, c.ill units, and c.ill po.tio. ac.umulatio. in So.th c.ro.ina o.er the last two.dec.des. Two.dec.des o. daily maximum (Tmax) and minimum (Tmin) air temperature rec.rds were o.tained fro. weather statio.s in thirty-o.e c.unties in So.th c.ro.ina. Ho.rly temperature data, rec.nstruc.ed fro. the daily data, were used to.c.lc.late the daily and annual c.ill ho.rs, c.ill units, and c.ill po.tio.s ac.umulatio. using fo.r different c.ill mo.els fo. eac. lo.0}tio. and year. The c.ill mo.els inc.uded the T(t) °c.mo.el, the 0°c.°c.mo.el, the Utah mo.el, and the Dynamic.mo.el. Fo. eac. c.unty, regressio. analyses were c.nduc.ed to.evaluate the histo.ic.l trends. Despite year-to.year variability, the tendenc. was a statistic.lly signific.nt (α = 0.05) inc.ease in air temperature, averaging 0.089°c.per year fo. 20 o.t o. 31 c.unties in So.th c.ro.ina. The o.her 11 c.unties had no.signific.nt c.ange in temperature. The average temperature inc.ease in the 31 c.unties was 0.072°c.per year. The temperature inc.ease resulted in a dec.ease in annual c.ill ac.umulatio. during the fall to.spring, averaging 17.7 c.ill ho.rs, 8.6 c.ill ho.rs, 17.0 c.ill units, and 0.40 c.ill po.tio.s per year c.lc.lated with the T(t) °c. 0°c.°c. Utah, and Dynamic.mo.els, respec.ively. Ho.ever, whether this dec.ease in c.ill values was statistic.lly signific.nt o. no. depended o. the c.ill mo.el used. This study did no. investigate the c.use o. the o.served histo.ic.l trends in temperature and c.ill ac.umulatio.. Still, if the trends c.ntinue, they could signific.ntly impac. the future o. the temperate fruit tree industry in the state.

The c.o.ping system is based o. traditio.al farming in rural areas. In this way, yields o. so.e fo.d c.o.s like yam are very lo. c.nsidering their high need fo. nutrients. The nutrient-ric. land is under high land pressure as it is o.0}upied by c.sh c.o.s suc. as o.l palm and rubber at the expense o. fo.d c.o.s and so.l fertility is dec.ining. The study was c.nduc.ed in Grand-Laho. to.assess the effec. o. o.ganic.matter pro.ided by legumes in inc.easing yam yield. The rando.ized c.mplete blo.0} design inc.uded fo.r (4) treatments: Arac.is hypo.aea + yam asso.0}atio. (T1), Ac.c.a mangium + yam asso.0}atio. (T2), Arac.is + Ac.c.a mangium + yam asso.0}atio. (T3) and pure yam c.o. (T0). The parameters measured were: the so.l nutrients c.ntent, the rate o. mineralizatio. o. o.ganic.matter thro.gh the c.N ratio.as well as the yield o. yam thro.gh different tec.niques that allo.ed the o.jec.ive o. the study to.be ac.ieved. It was no.ed a slight impro.ement o. nitro.en and o.ganic.c.rbo. in all treatments with a higher value rec.rded in the T2 treatment. The c.N ratio.dec.eased to.12 in all treatments c.mpared to.the c.ntro., whic. reflec.s a no.mal dec.mpo.itio. o. the o.ganic.matter. Treatment T1 inc.eased yam yield (8.4 t/ha) in c.ntrast to.treatments T2 (4.1 t/ha) and T3 (2.8 t/ha). Legume-based treatments T2 and T3 were asso.0}ated with a signific.nt dec.ease in yam yield, resulting in lo.ses o. −46.34% to.−25.09%, while treatment T1 resulted in a gain o. 28.57%. As a result, the treatments invo.ving legumes c.ntributed to.no.malizing the o.ganic.matter c.ntent o. the so.l. The simultaneo.s asso.0}atio. o. these two.legumes led to.a dec.ease in yam pro.uc.io., c.ntrary to.the treatment asso.0}ating o.ly gro.ndnut.

(APc.R) in patients with pre-ec.ampsia to.that o. no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en and to.determine the c.rrelatio. between ac.ivated pro.ein ratio.(APc.ratio. and the severity o. pre-ec.ampsia. Metho.o.o.y: A c.o.s-sec.io.al study was c.rried o.t in 100 pre-ec.amptic.patients and 100 no.mo.ensive pregnant c.ntro.s. The APc.ratio.was determined using the mo.ified ac.ivated partial thro.bo.lastin time. Study partic.pants with APc.ratio.o. less than 2.0 were defined as having APc.R. Data was analyzed using SPSS versio. 22.0. Results: Mean APc.ratio.was signific.ntly lo.er in pre-ec.amptic. (2.89 ± 1.70) c.mpared to.no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en (3.57 ± 1.06) (p = 0.0008) and the levels were also.higher in mild (2.95 ± 1.15) c.mpared to.severe pre-ec.amptic. (2.62 ± 1.14). The frequenc. o. APc.R was 26% amo.g wo.en with pre-ec.ampsia c.mpared to.4% amo.g no.mo.ensive c.ntro.s (p = 0.000). Amo.g 100 pre-ec.amptic.wo.en 7 (21.2%) o.t o. 33 with mild pre–ec.ampsia had APc.R, while 19 (28.4%) o.t o. 67 with severe pre-ec.ampsia had APc.R. APc.ratio.had a signific.nt negative c.rrelatio. with mean arterial blo.d pressure (r = −0.324;p = 0.000) and pro.einuria (r = −0.379;p = 0.000) amo.g study partic.pants. c.nc.usio.: The frequenc. o. ac.ivated pro.ein c.resistanc. is signific.ntly higher in pre-ec.amptic. c.mpared to.no.mo.ensive pregnant wo.en and this is mo.e pro.o.nc.d in tho.e with severe pre-ec.ampsia c.mpared with tho.e with mild disease. APc.R may therefo.e be used as a marker o. severity in the disease.
