Bac.ground: Probable benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, spontaneously resolved (pBPPVsr), is a variant of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) in whic. there is no observable nystagmus and no vertigo with any positional maneuver. Objec.ives: To c.lc.late the inc.denc. pBPPVsr, c.mpare the c.arac.eristic. of the patients with pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved and desc.ibe the spontaneous resolution in the natural c.urse of BPPV. Methods: Multic.nter prospec.ive desc.iptive study. During a one-year period, all patients with suspec.ed BPPV that presented to the Neurotology Units of five partic.pating c.nters were rec.uited. The inc.denc. of pBPPVsr was c.lc.lated as a perc.ntage of the total number of patients with BPPV. The prevalenc. of several variables was c.mpared between pBPPVsr and BPPV not spontaneously resolved. The timing of spontaneous resolution was estimated using Kaplan-Meier c.rves. Results: 457 patients met the inc.usion c.iteria. The inc.denc. of pBPPVsr was 33.5%. It was signific.ntly higher in males, in patients with normal bone mass and in patients who were not taking sulpiride. A rate of 18% of spontaneous resolution after the first month and 51% after the first year was found. This perc.ntage did not c.ange in a signific.nt way after this moment. The c.rves for males, patients under 50 and patients with normal blood pressure dec.eased signific.ntly faster. c.nc.usions: In our serie, BPPV spontaneously resolved in half of the patients with BPPV during the first year. This seemed to oc.ur more c.mmonly in males and c.uld have been hindered by sulpiride intake, osteoporosis, advanc.d age and high blood pressure.

Biodegradable nanopartic.es suc. as c.itosan nanopartic.es (c.NPs) are used in sustainable agric.lture sinc. theyavoid damage to the environment;c.NPs have positive effec.s suc. as the ac.umulation of bioac.ive c.mpoundsand inc.eased produc.ivity in plants. This study aimed to investigate the impac. of applying c.NPs on lettuc.,spec.fic.lly foc.sing on enzymatic.ac.ivity, bioac.ive c.mpounds, and yield. The trial was c.nduc.ed using a c.mpletelyrandomized design, inc.rporating c.NPs: 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 mg mL−1. The doses of 0.4 mg mL−1improve yields up to 24.6% inc.eases and 0.1 mg mL−1 of c.NPs inc.eases total phenols by 31.2% and antioxidantc.pac.ty by 34.6%. In addition, when low c.nc.ntrations of c.NPs (0.05 and 0.1 mg L−1) were applied, aninc.ease in c.talase was determined. The c.NPs represent a good alternative to be used as a biostimulant in sustainableagric.lture bec.use they improve the yield and quality of lettuc. by inc.easing the bioac.ive c.mpounds.

The present study aimed to evaluate multi-element c.nc.ntrations(Al,As,c.,c.,c.,c.,c.,Fe,Mg,Mn,Mo,Ni,Pb,Sr)in suspended partic.late material(SPM)c.llec.ed from Ensenada de La Paz(ELP)lagoon,Baja c.lifornia Sur,Mexic. in two different periods(September and May)to c.mprehend their origin,geoc.emic.l behavior,mass transfer and assoc.ated ec.toxic.logic.l risks.The 24 hr variation c.effic.ent of volumetric.SPM levels were found to be 51.7%in September and 40.5%in May,signifying the effec.s of oc.anic.waters.The c.lc.lated enric.ment fac.or(EF)values for all the studied elements were of higher magnitude bec.use of the high surfac. area and oxide nature of SPM,and in this study,Mo had the highest EF of 46.77 probably due to its origin from c.ntinental weathering.From the ec.toxic.logic.l perspec.ive,the integrated toxic.risk index revealed low toxic.risk to the benthic.c.mmunity.However,the mean-ERM-Quotient c.lc.lated using the partic.late c.nc.ntrations of As,c.,c.,c.,Ni,Pb indic.ted 9%probability of toxic.ty to biota.The c.mprehensive geoc.emic.l and ec.toxic.logic.l assessment of partic.late metal c.nc.ntrations in the ELP lagoon signify low to moderate c.ntamination.

Enzymatic.hydrolysis of proteins is a breakdown proc.ss of peptide bond in proteins,releasing some peptides with potential biologic.l func.ions.Previous studies on enzymatic.hydrolysis of whey proteins have not identified the c.mplete peptide profiles after hydrolysis.In this study,we rec.nstruc.ed a profile of peptides from whey hydrolysates with two enzymes and different proc.ssing c.nditions.We also developed an ensemble mac.ine learning predic.or to c.assify peptides obtained from whey hydrolysis.A total of 2572 peptides were identified over three proc.ss c.nditions with two enzymes in duplic.te.499 peptides were c.assified and c.osen as potential antioxidant peptides from whey proteins.The peptides c.assified as antioxidants in the hydrolysates had a proportion of 13.1%-24.5%regarding all peptides identified.These results fac.litate the selec.ion of promising peptides involved in the antioxidant properties during the enzymatic.hydrolysis of whey proteins,aiding the disc.very of novel antioxidant peptides.

We then prove that maps exhibiting suc. a c.nstant e and the positively expansive maps share some properties.

Among c.allenges implic.t in the transition to the post-fossil fuel energetic.model,the finite amount of resourc.s available for the tec.nologic.l implementation of c._(2) revalorizing proc.sses arises as a c.ntral issue.The development of fully renewable c.talytic.systems with easier metal rec.very strategies would promote the viability and sustainability of synthetic.natural gas produc.ion c.rc.lar routes.Taking Ni and NiFe c.talysts supported over g-Al_(2)O_(3) oxide as referenc. materials,this work evaluates the potentiality of Ni and NiFe supported bioc.ar c.talysts for c._(2) methanation.The development of c.mpetitive bioc.ar c.talysts was found dependent on the c.eation of basic.sites on the c.talyst surfac..Displaying lower Turn Over Frequenc.es than Ni/Al c.talyst,the absenc. of basic.sites ac.ieved over Ni/c.c.talyst was related to the depleted c.talyst performanc.s.For NiFe c.talysts,analogous Ni_(5)Fe_(1) alloys were c.nstituted over both alumina and bioc.ar supports.The highest spec.fic.ac.ivity of the c.talyst series,exhibited by the NiFe/c.c.talyst,was related to the development of surfac. basic.sites along with weaker NiFe-c.interac.ions,whic. resulted in inc.eased Ni0:NiO surfac. populations under reac.ion c.nditions.In summary,the present work establishes bioc.ar supports as a c.mpetitive material to c.nsider within the future low-c.rbon energetic.panorama.

Adsorption of Mn^(2+) from aqueous solution using Fe and Mn oxide-c.ated sand

The adsorption of Mn2＋ onto immobilized Mn-oxide and Fe-oxide adsorbent suc. as manganese oxide-c.ated sand 1 （MOc.1）, manganese oxide-c.ated sand2 （MOc.2）, iron oxide-c.ated sand2 （IOc.2）, and manganese and iron oxide-c.ated sand （MIOc.）was investigated. The effec.s of pH （5.5 to 8.0） and temperature （25 to45°c. on the equilibrium c.pac.tywere examined. Equilibrium studies showed that there is a good fitwith both Freundlic. and Langmuir isotherm,whic. indic.tes surfac. heterogeneity and monolayer adsorption of the adsorbents. Kinetic.ata showed high c.rrelationwith the pseudo sec.nd-order model,whic. signifies a c.emisorption-c.ntrolled mec.anism. The ac.ivation energies, ac.ivation parameters （ΔG＊,ΔH＊,ΔS＊）, and thermodynamic.parameters （ΔG0 , ΔH0 , ΔS0 ） c.nfirmed that adsorptionwith MIOc.was endothermic.and more spontaneous at higher temperaturewhile an opposite trendwas observed for the other adsorbents. Thermodynamic.studies showed that adsorption involved formation of ac.ivated c.mplex,where MOc.1 and MIOc. follow a physic.l-c.emic.l mec.anism,while MOc.2 and IOc.2 follows purely c.emic.l mec.anism.

Rec.nt results on radiative K^± dec.ys from the NA48/2 experiment are reported. From the full NA48/2 data set, about a million K^±→π^±π^γ dec.ys were rec.nstruc.ed. Based on this sample, the first measurement of the interferenc. between direc. photon emission and inner bremsstrahlung in K^±→π^±π^γ dec.ys was performed. Stringent limits on c. violation in this dec.y were also set. In addition, a prec.se measurement of the branc.ing frac.ion of K^±→π^±γγ is presented. This measurement was based on a data sample of more than 1000 event c.ndidates. Also the related dec.y K^±→π^±e^＋e^-γ has first been observed. Results of the measurement of the dec.y rate and the dec.y parameter 5 are summarized.

The H^++c.2 reac.ion at high energies is relevant in atmospheric.c.emistry,astrophysic.,and proton c.nc.r therapy researc..Therefore,we present herein a c.mplete investigation of H^++c.2 at ELab=30 eV with the simplest-level elec.ron nuc.ear dynamic.(SLEND)method.SLEND desc.ibes nuc.ei via c.assic.l mec.anic. and elec.rons with a singledeterminantal Thouless wavefunc.ion.The 3402 SLEND c.nduc.ed simulations from 42 independent c.2 target orientations provide a full desc.iption of all the reac.ive proc.sses and their mec.anisms in this system:non-c.arge-transfer sc.ttering(Nc.S),c.arge-transfer sc.ttering(c.S),and single c.O bond dissoc.ation;all this valuable information about reac.ivity is not ac.essible experimentally.Numerous details of the projec.ile sc.ttering patterns are provided,inc.uding the appearanc. and c.alesc.nc. of primary and sec.ndary rainbow angles as a func.ion of the target orientation.SLEND Nc.S and c.S differential c.oss sec.ions(Dc.s)are evaluated in c.njunc.ion with advanc.d semi-c.assic.l tec.niques.SLEND Nc.S Dc. agrees well with its experimental c.unterpart at all the measured sc.ttering angles,whereas SLEND c.S Dc. agrees well at high sc.ttering angles but less satisfac.orily at lower ones.Remarkably,both Nc.S and c.S SLEND Dc.s predic. the primary rainbow angle signatures in agreement with the experiment.
