Bac.ground: c.rdiac.rehabilitation represents a c.itic.l therapeutic.strategy for patients suffering from c.ronic.heart failure. The physic.l c.pac.ty of patients with heart failure, assessed using the exerc.se test and the 6-minute walk test, is the measure of the patient’s overall func.ional ability to perform physic.l ac.ivities and tolerate exerc.se loads. The objec.ive of this study was to assess the impac. of c.rdiac.rehabilitation on patients’ physic.l c.pabilities and to c.nduc. a thorough c.mparison of data obtained via exerc.se testing and the 6-minute walk test before and after the rehabilitation programme. Methods: This was a desc.iptive and analytic.l c.oss-sec.ional study, c.nduc.ed from 1 February 2021 to 31 June 2022. Inc.uded were heart failure patients who had partic.pated in an outpatient c.rdiovasc.lar rehabilitation programme. The c.llec.ed data inc.uded anamnestic. c.inic.l, parac.inic.l data, and the 6-minute walk test. Informed c.nsent was obtained. Data analysis, word proc.ssing, and c.arting were performed using Mic.osoft Word 2016, Exc.l 2013, and Sphinx version 5.***.0.2. Data analysis was performed using SPSS (Statistic.l Pac.age for Soc.al Sc.enc.s) version 24.0. Any differenc. less than 0.05 was c.nsidered statistic.lly signific.nt. Results: In a Senegalese study, heart failure patients undergoing rehabilitation in a c.rdiac.unit represented 45.59% of all c.ses, with a prevalenc. rate of 3.21%. The average partic.pant was 57.97 years old, with those aged 61 to 70 forming the largest group (35.5%). The study noted a male predominanc. (sex ratio of 2.1) and identified dyslipidaemia (80.6%) and sedentarism (71%), as prevalent c.rdiovasc.lar risk fac.ors. All partic.pants initially suffered from NYHA stage 2 or 3 dyspnoea, yet 80.65% showed no symptoms following rehabilitation. Adjuvant Rec.al Dic.ofenac.for Post Operative Analgesia after c.esarean Sec.ion—A Randomized c.ntrolled Study

BAc.GROUND: Pain management following c.esarean sec.ion still remains a c.allenge in our environment. Most potent analgesic. are either not readily available or expensive. Dic.ofenac.suppository is an NSAID that c.n be used for postoperative analgesia. It is available and affordable. OBJEc.IVE: To c.mpare the effic.c. and safety of c.mbined rec.al dic.ofenac.and intramusc.lar pentazoc.ne with intramusc.lar pentazoc.ne alone for post operative pain c.ntrol following lower segment c.esarean sec.ion. METHODOLOGY: A total of 120 women who met the selec.ion c.iteria sc.eduled for c.esarean sec.ion under spinal anaesthesia with bupivac.ine were randomized into two equal groups to rec.ive either 75 mg dic.ofenac.suppository 12 hourly for 24 hours or one anusol suppository (the plac.bo) 12 hourly for 24 hours. Both groups rec.ived pentazoc.ne as primary analgesia. RESULT: The primary outc.me measure is the proportion of patients with severe pain at 24 hours using the visual analogue rating sc.le. Sec.ndary outc.me measures are the time from surgery to ambulation, Passage of flatus, maternal satisfac.ion and presenc. of c.mplic.tions. Statistic.l analysis was done using spss version 22 and graph pad statistic.l pac.age. Student T-test was used for c.ntinuous variables whereas c.i square was used for c.tegoric.l variables P c.Nc.USION: Adjuvant rec.al dic.ofenac.is superior to pentazoc.ne alone in the management of pain after c.esarean sec.ion. Less number of patients had moderate to severe pain at 24 hours post operation. Maternal satisfac.ion in relation to pain management is better with dic.ofenac.suppository. The levels of c.mplic.tions were c.mparable in both groups.
