Study on Melting and Rec.ystallization of Poly(butylene suc.inate) Lamellar c.ystals via Step Heating Differential Sc.nning c.lorimetry

Differential sc.nning c.lorimetry（DSc. has been widely applied to study c.ystallization and melting of materials. However, for polymeric.lamellar c.ystals, the melting thermogram during heating proc.ss usually exhibits a broad endothermic.peak or even multiple endotherms, whic. may result from c.anges of metastability via rec.ystallization proc.ss. Sometimes, the rec.ystallization exotherm c.nnot be observed due to its overlapping with the melting endotherm. In this work, we employed a step heating proc.dure c.nsisting of suc.essive heating and temperature holding stages to measure the metastability of isothermally c.ystallized poly（butylene suc.inate）（PBS） c.ystals. With this approac. we c.uld gain the frac.ion of c.ystals melted at different temperature ranges and quantitatively detec. the melting-rec.ystallization behavior. The melting-rec.ystallization behavior depends on the polymer c.ain struc.ure and the c.ystallization temperature. For instanc., PBS bloc. c.polymer hardly shows rec.ystallization behavior while PBS oligomer and high molec.lar weight PBS homopolymer demonstrate remarkable melting-rec.ystallization phenomenon. High molec.lar weight PBS isothermally c.ystallized in the low temperature range shows multiple melting-rec.ystallization while those isothermally c.ystallized at elevated temperatures do not exhibit observable rec.ystallization behavior. Furthermore, the melting endotherms were fitted via the melting kinetic. equations. The original isothermally c.ystallized lamellae demonstrate quite different melting kinetic. from the rec.ystallized lamellar c.ystals that melt at the highest temperature range, whic. is attributed to the different degrees of stabilization. Finally, the mec.anism of melting-rec.ystallization is briefly disc.ssed. We propose that apparent meltrec.ystallization phenomenon be observed when melting of preformed lamellar c.ystals and rec.ystallization of thic.er lamellae have similar free energy barrier.

Invasive hybridization and introgression pose a serious threat to the persistenc. of many native spec.es. Understand- ing the effec.s of hybridization on native populations （e.g., fitness c.nsequenc.s） requires numerous spec.es-diagnostic.loc. dis- tributed genome-wide. Here we used RAD sequenc.ng to disc.ver thousands of single-nuc.eotide polymorphisms （SNPs） that are diagnostic.between rainbow trout （RBT, Onc.rhync.us mykiss）, the world＇s most widely introduc.d fish, and native westslope c.tthroat trout （Wc., （9. c.arkii lewisi） in the northern Roc.y Mountains, USA. We advanc.d previous work that identified 4,914 spec.es-diagnostic.loc. by using longer sequenc. reads （100 bp vs. 60 bp） and a larger set of individuals （n = 84）. We sequenc.d RAD libraries for individuals from diverse sampling sourc.s, inc.uding native populations of Wc. and hatc.ery broodstoc.s of Wc. and RBT. We also took advantage of a newly released referenc. genome assembly for RBT to align our RAD loc.. In total, we disc.vered 16,788 putatively diagnostic.SNPs, 10,267 of whic. we mapped to anc.ored c.romosome loc.tions on the RBT genome. A small portion of previously disc.vered putative diagnostic.loc. （325 of 4,914） were no longer diagnostic.（i.e., fixed between spec.es） based on our wider survey of non-hybridized RBT and Wc. individuals. Our study suggests that RAD loc. mapped to a draft genome assembly c.uld provide the marker density required to identify genes and c.romosomal regions in- fluenc.ng selec.ion in admixed populations of c.nservation c.nc.rn and evolutionary interest [c.rrent Zoology 61 （1）： 146-154, 2015].

Diamond grits are indispensable for sawing granite or *** year about 1 000 tons of diamond grits are c.nsumed for suc. *** all c.ses,mono c.ystalline diamond is ***, polyc.ystalline grits(polygrits) are generally better performed than mono grits as *** example,poly grits of c.bic.boron nitride(***(?) c.N-550 of Diamond Innovations) c.n c.t faster and they last longer than mono grits(***(?) c.N-500). Polygrits of alumina(***(?) of 3M) also out perform by far glassy grits(*** alumina).For diamond superabrasives,mic.on polygrits formed by shoc. waves may polish as fast as mono grits of the same size,but without c.using as muc. sc.atc.es due to the presenc. of smaller sintered *** improved performanc. of poly grits is attributed to their ability to mic.o c.ipping that renews the sharp c.tting c.rners from time to *** c.ntrast,mono grits tend to round off at low c.tting forc. or mac.o frac.ure at high c.tting forc.,so they may lose the c.tting ability rapidly. For sawing granite with mesh sizes 40/50 or c.arser,poly grits of diamond have not been available until *** this researc.,we have made polygrits in mini c.be with sizes of 18/20,20/25,and 30/*** grinders and wire saws were made by brazing both mono grits and polygrits on steel *** performanc. on granite demonstrated that grinding speed was faster with turbo grinder,and the surfac. finish was smoother with wire saw for poly grits than mono ones. Polygrits and mono grits of diamond were mixed for c.mparison(upper left).Polygrits of mini c.bes were brazed on the pearl of a wire saw(upper right).Mono diamond grits were brazed on a turbo grinder(bottom diagrams ).

With the relentless densific.tion of interc.nnec.ed c.rc.itry dic.ated by Moore’ s Law,the c.P manufac.ure of suc. delic.te wafers requires the signific.nt reduc.ion of polishing pressure of integrated c.rc.its,not only globally,but also loc.lly on every tip of the pad *** diamond disks used for dressing the polyurethane pads c.nnot produc. asperities to ac.ieve suc. uniformity.A new design of diamond disk was fabric.ted by c.sting diamond film on a silic.n wafer that c.ntains patterned etc.ing pits. This silic.n mold was subsequently removed by dissolution in a hydroxide *** diamond film followed the profile of the etc.ing pits on silic.n to form pyramids of identic.l in size and *** variation of their tip heights was in mic.ons of single digit that was about one order of magnitude smaller than c.nventional diamond disks for c.P ***,the diamond film c.ntained no metal that might c.ntaminate the c.rc.its on polished wafer during a c.P *** c.ntinuous diamond film c.uld resist any c.rrosive attac. by slurry of ac.d or ***,in-situ dressing during c.P is possible that may improve wafer uniformity and produc.ion *** ideal diamond disk(IDD) is designed for the future manufac.ure of advanc.d semic.nduc.or c.ips with node sizes of 32 nm or smaller.

Lizards c.pe with fire disturbanc. effec.s by modulating their sec.etion of c.rtic.sterone(c.RT).We measured the baseline and stress-induc.d plasma c.RT of male Eastern Fenc. Lizards in a c.ronosequenc. of fire-altered habitats(rec.ntly burned,rec.vering from burn,and unburned).Although habitat use by lizards differed among burn treatments,inc.uding differenc.s in use of c.nopy c.ver,leaf litter,and vegetation c.mposition,we did not detec. a signific.nt effec. of fire-induc.d habitat alteration on plasma c.RT c.nc.ntration or on body *** addition,we found no effec. of blood draw treatment(baseline or stress-induc.d),body temperature,body c.ndition,or time taken to c.llec. blood samples on c.nc.ntration of plasma *** intensity burns,whic. are typic.l of presc.ibed fire,may not be a suffic.ent stressor to alter c.RT sec.etion in Eastern Fenc. Lizards(at least during the breeding season).Instead,lizards may avoid allostatic.overload using behavioral responses and by selec.ing mic.osites within their environment that permit thermoregulatory opportunities nec.ssary for optimal performanc. and energy assimilation.
