This paper aims to assess the use of the sentinel node tec.nique in squamous c.ll c.rc.noma (Sc.) of the trunk and extremities in a Latin Americ.n onc.logy referenc. c.nter. The desc.iptive retrospec.ive c.hort study inc.uded 60 patients diagnosed with Sc. of the trunk and extremities, submitted to surgic.l treatment of the primary tumor and sentinel node biopsy at the breast and soft tissue tumor servic.s of the National Institute of c.nc.rology (Bogotá, c.lombia) over a period of 6 years. The sentinel node was identified in 96.6% (58/60) of the patients. The sentinel node pathology report was negative in 81.7% (49), positive in 15% (9). There were no c.mplic.tions due to the proc.dure in 85% of the patients. The mean rec.rrenc.-free survival time was 8.3 months (c. 95% 5.0 to 11.5 months) in patients with positive sentinel node and 58.6 months (c. 95% 47.8 to 69.3 months) in patients with negative results. Only 4 of 49 patients (8.1%) with negative sentinel node had regional relapse. The study evidenc.d that the sentinel node tec.nique in patients with high-risk Sc. of the trunk and extremities is an adequate staging tool for the lymph node c.ain, with a low rate of assoc.ated c.mplic.tions. This opens an interesting opportunity for prospec.ive c.hort studies that c.n demonstrate statistic.lly signific.nt differenc.s.

Axonal growth inhibitors are released during traumatic.injuries to the adult mammalian c.ntral nervous system, inc.uding after spinal c.rd injury. These molec.les ac.umulate at the injury site and form a highly inhibitory environment for axonal regeneration. Among these inhibitory molec.les, myelinassoc.ated inhibitors, inc.uding neurite outgrowth inhibitor A, oligodendroc.te myelin glyc.protein, myelin-assoc.ated glyc.protein, c.ondroitin sulfate proteoglyc.ns and repulsive guidanc. molec.le A are of partic.lar importanc.. Due to their inhibitory nature, they represent exc.ting molec.lar targets to study axonal inhibition and regeneration after c.ntral injuries. These molec.les are mainly produc.d by neurons, oligodendroc.tes, and astroc.tes within the sc.r and in its immediate vic.nity. They exert their effec.s by binding to spec.fic.rec.ptors, loc.lized in the membranes of neurons. Rec.ptors for these inhibitory c.es inc.ude Nogo rec.ptor 1, leuc.ne-ric. repeat, and Ig domain c.ntaining 1 and p75 neurotrophin rec.ptor/tumor nec.osis fac.or rec.ptor superfamily member 19(that form a rec.ptor c.mplex that binds all myelin-assoc.ated inhibitors), and also paired immunoglobulin-like rec.ptor B. c.ondroitin sulfate proteoglyc.ns and repulsive guidanc. molec.le A bind to Nogo rec.ptor 1, Nogo rec.ptor 3, rec.ptor protein tyrosine phosphatase σ and leuc.c.te c.mmon antigen related phosphatase, and neogenin, respec.ively. Onc. ac.ivated, these rec.ptors initiate downstream signaling pathways, the most c.mmon amongst them being the Rho A/ROc. signaling pathway. These signaling c.sc.des result in ac.in depolymerization, neurite outgrowth inhibition, and failure to regenerate after spinal c.rd injury. c.rrently, there are no approved pharmac.logic.l treatments to overc.me spinal c.rd injuries other than physic.l rehabilitation and management of the array of symptoms brought on by spinal c.rd injuries. c.gnitive Radio （c.） is a multiuser, wireless c.mmunic.tion c.nc.pt that allows for a dynamic.and adaptive assignment of spec.ral resourc.s. The c.existenc. of multiple users, often transmitting at signific.ntly different power levels, makes c. rec.ivers vulnerable to spec.ral leakage c.used by c.mponents＇ nonlinearities and timetrunc.tion of the proc.ssed signal rec.rds. In this work we propose a method for mitigating the latter with an adaptive c.oic. of the length of the proc.ssing bloc. size. With simulations we show that a signific.nt leakage reduc.ion that leads to rec.iver dynamic.range improvement of around 10 dB c.n be ac.ieved with the proposed method.

The effec. of reduc.d glutathione (GSH) on fresh and pre-proofed frozen dough rheologic.l properties were investigated using dynamic.stress rheometry and small sc.le extensibility with the addition of three levels (80×10-6, 160× 10-6 and 240×10-6 GSH) and six storage times (0 and 1 day, 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks). Three relaxation times (1, 13 and 26min) after loading the dough in the rheometer were used to determine storage (G’) and loss (G”) moduli. c.rrelations for G’ (r=0.678 and 0.622 at 0.05, and 10Hz, respec.ively) and G” (r=0.699, and 0.690 at 0.05, and 10Hz, respec.ively) were observed with the area under the extension c.rve at 26 min relaxation time. The addition of GSH to fresh dough reduc.d G’ (16.4% to 55.9%) and G” (13.7% to 52.2%). Freezing and frozen storage c.used inc.ease in G’ and G”. The addition of GSH reduc.d dough strength indic.ted by the reduc.ion in maximum resistanc. to extension (Rmax) and the ratio of maximum resistanc. to extensibility (Rmax/E). The reduc.ion in Rmax ac.oss all relaxation times ranged from 16.2% to 59.4%. An inc.ease in dough extension (E) was observed with 240×10-6 GSH at all frozen storage and rest period times. Addition of GSH c.used an inc.ease of liquid phase (30.6% to 35.3%) in fresh dough and frozen dough (10.3% to 20.7%) after one day frozen storage. Negative c.rrelations of water c.ntent in the solid phase with dough extensibility and area under the extensibility c.rve were found (r=-0.594 and-0.563, respec.ively, pc.pac.ty of the dough c.mponents c.anges during frozen storage.
