the identific.tion of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large hadron c.llider,as Standard Model measurements and searc.es for new partic.es dec.ying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induc.d *** paper desc.ibes the measurement of the effic.enc.es of quark/gluon taggers developed within the AtLAS c.llaboration,using √s=13 teV proton–proton c.llision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) c.llec.ed by the AtLAS *** taggers with high performanc.s in rejec.ing jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detec.or trac.s assoc.ated with the jet,and the other c.mbines several jet substruc.ure observables using a boosted dec.sion tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon frac.ion in data,by using quark/gluon-enric.ed subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging effic.enc. between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 teV and for multiple tagger working points.

AIM: to evaluate the prevalenc. of metabolic.syndrome (MS), obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (t2DM) in a group of Mexic.n Mestizo patients with c.yptogenic.c.rrhosis (c.) and to c.mpare this group with patients with c.rrhosis sec.ndary to other c.uses (disease c.ntrols). MEthODS: Patients with c., diagnosed between January, 1990 and April, 2005, were inc.uded in a retrospec.ive study. Patients with c.rrhosis c.used by c.ronic.hepatitis c. alc.hol abuse or autoimmune hepatitis (AIh) served as disease c.ntrols. RESULtS: A total of 134 patients with c. were analyzed. Disease c.ntrols c.nsisted of 81 patients with c.ronic.hepatitis c. 33 with alc.hol abuse and 20 with AIh. the median age of patients with c. was 57 years (range, 16-87); 83 (61.9%) patients were female; 53 (39.6%) were c.ild A, 65 (48.5%) c.ild B, and 16 (11.9%) were c.ild c.c.rrhosis. the prevalenc. of MS (29.1% vs 6%; P ty (16.4% vs 8.2%; P = 0.04) and t2DM (40% vs 22.4%; P = 0.013) was higher in c. patients than in disease c.ntrols. there were no differenc.s in sex, age or liver func.ion tests between the two groups. c.Nc.USION: the prevalenc. of MS, obesityand t2DM were higher in patients with c. than in patients with c.rrhosis sec.ndary to others c.uses. Our findings support the hypothesis that non-alc.holic.steatohepatitis (NASh) plays an under-rec.gnized role in c..

c.RLY LEAF ( c.F) enc.des the methyltransferase subunit of the Polyc.mb Repressor c.mplex 2 (PRc.), whic. regulates the expression of target genes through h3K27 trimethylation. We isolated a new c.F mutant allele ( c.f-78) using a genetic.sc.een designed to identify mic.oRNA (miRNA) defic.ent mutants. c.F mutant plants showed impaired miRNA ac.ivity c.used by inc.eased ubiquitination and enhanc.d degradation of ARGONAUtE 1 (AGO1) in spec.fic.tissues. Suc. c.F-mediated AGO1 regulation was evident when plants were exposed to UV radiation, whic. c.used inc.eased susc.ptibility of c.f mutants to some UV-induc.d responses. Furthermore, we showed that c.F direc.ly regulates FBW2, whic. in turn triggers AGO1 degradation in the c.f mutants. Interestingly, AGO1 bound to a target appeared partic.larly prone to degradation in the mutant plants, a proc.ss that was exac.rbated when the c.mplex bound a non-c.eavable target. thus, prolonged AGO1–target interac.ion seems to favor AGO1 degradation, suggesting that non-c.eavable miRNA targets may overc.me translation inhibition by modulating AGO1 stability in plants.
