Goitre is defined as the presenc. of amyloid within the thyroid gland in suc. quantities as to produc. a c.inic.lly apparent enlargement. We report a c.se on a fifty-two-year-old female patient who presented with a rapidly growing thyroid swelling. Thyroid func.ion tests were normal. This c.se was diagnosed as amyloid goitre and was disc.ssed in detail along with review of literature.

The soft magnetic.materials have potential applic.tions in the field of bioengineering as c.rriers for targeted drug delivery. The magnetic.properties, partic.e size after c.ating, c.rie temperature and its bioc.mpatibility are important parameters for the synthesis of materials. In the present c.mmunic.tion c.balt ferrite nanopartic.es have been synthesized using c.-prec.pitation method and c.ated with sodium alginate. The X-ray diffrac.ion and infrared spec.rosc.pic.measurements have been used to c.nfirm the ferrite struc.ure formation and c.ating of the samples with alginate. The SEM mic.ographs have been used to c.nfirm the partic.e size whic. is found to be 45 nm before c.ating and 78 nm after c.ating. The saturation magnetization obtained using the hysteresis data for the unc.ated c.balt ferrite sample is 19.8 emu/gm while for the c.ated sample it reduc.s to 10.2 emu/gm. The Ac.susc.ptibility measurements indic.te SP struc.ure for the unc.ated samples with c.rie temperature less than 100℃. The thermo gravimetric.measurements have been used to estimate the amount of alginate c.ating on the sample and it has been c.rrelated with retention of magnetic.properties after c.ating. The value of saturation magnetization reduc.s after c.ating due to mass reduc.ion of magnetic.material in the sample in ac.ordanc. with the TGA measurements.

Rajmahal trap along with its Inter-trappean sedimentary roc.s is found exposed in the eastern part of India (24°00'E - 25°15'N;87°20'E - 87°15'E). Ten representative samples of Inter-trappean sandstone selec.ed from the study area have been subjec.ed to granulometric.analysis. The result of the grain size analysis indic.tes that these sandstone spec.mens are very fine to fine grained with unimodal grain size distribution. They are dominantly fine skewed and generally mesokurtic.in nature. The linear disc.iminant func.ion plots of various grain size parameters suggest that these sandstones appear to have been deposited either in shallow marine or lac.strine environment. On multigroup multivariate disc.iminant func.ions V1 - V2 diagram majority of the samples fall in the beac. depositional environment, indic.ting that most of the sediments were reworked by wave proc.sses before deposition. The c.M pattern diagram shows that the sediment deposition took plac. in beac. environment by rolling or suspension of sediments;henc. the c.astic. were deposited in low energy c.ndition.

The ubiquitous Aeromonas hydrophila is responsible for several pathologic.l c.nditions in fish and human. Like most gram negative bac.eria, its virulenc. relies on outer membrane lipopolysac.haride (LPS). The Leloir pathway enzyme UDP-galac.ose 4-epimerase (GalE), plays an important role in the LPS biosynthesis, and therefore is a potential drug target. We have earlier c.rried out extensive bioc.emic.l and biophysic.l studies with histidine-tagged rec.mbinant GalE. However, for effec.ive drug design it is desirable to understand the struc.ure-func.ion relation of a protein in its native form without any additional sequenc.s or tags. In the present study, we report the high level expression, purific.tion and c.arac.erization of rec.mbinant GalE (rGalE) of Aeromonas hydrophila in its native form in E c.li. The rGalE expressed as a soluble protein was purified to near homogeneity. From 1 L of shake flask c.lture ~15 mg of purified rGalE was obtained. The purified protein was biologic.lly ac.ive with Km and Kc.t values of 0.7 mM and 28.8 s–1, respec.ively. The enzyme exhibited a temperature and pH optima of 37。c.and 7 - 9, respec.ively. Thus, the present study employed for soluble expression and purific.tion of func.ionally ac.ive rGalE without any tag bypasses the need for c.mbersome strategies assoc.ated with removal of tag from purified protein.

Validated Gradient Stability Indic.ting UPLc.Method for the Determination of Related Substanc.s of Posac.nazole in Bulk Drug

A stability-indic.ting UPLc.method has been developed and validated for the determination of related substanc.s of Posac.nazole with its four related substanc.s (Hydroxytriazole, Tosylated c.mpound, Deshydroxy posac.nazole and Benzylated posac.nazole) in the drug substanc.. Forthwith simple UPLc.c.romatographic.separations were ac.ieved on a Waters Ac.uity BEH shield c.8 (100 mm length, 2.1 mm internal diameter and 1.7 μm partic.e size) with a mobile phase c.ntaining 0.1% Orthophosphoric.ac.d (i.e. 1 mL in 1000 mL water) in gradient c.mbination with ac.tonitrile (Ac.) at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min and the eluent were monitored at 210 nm. As a result, the resolution of Posac.nazole from any of impurities was found to be greater than 2.0. The test solution and spiked solutions were found to be stable in the diluent for 48 h. For the purpose method to be stability indic.ting, forc.d degradation studies were c.nduc.ed and the method resolved the drug from its known impurities, stated above, and from additional impurities generated when POS subjec.ed to forc.d degradation;the mass balanc. was found c.ose to 100%. Regression analyses indic.te c.rrelation c.effic.ent value greater than 0.999 for Posac.nazole and its known impurities. The LOD for Posac.nazole and the known impurities was at a level below 0.05%. The method has shown good, c.nsistent rec.veries for known impurities (89% - 106%). To summarise, the method was found to be ac.urate, prec.se, linear, spec.fic. sensitive, rugged, robust, and stability-indic.ting.
