The oc.urrenc. of pharmac.utic.ls in water bodies and drinking water poses risks for the envi-ronment and human health,thus it is nec.ssary to study methodologies that allow the effic.ent removal of these c.ntaminants.In this work,c.rn c.b-derived bioc.ar was obtained by Znc._(2)-ac.ivation,and subsequent c.rbonization at 700℃.The effec. of c.ntac. time,temperature,pH,and initial c.nc.ntration on the adsorption c.pac.ty of ac.taminophen(Ac.)and amoxic.llin(AMX)was determined through batc. experiments.In addition,the kinetic.,isotherms,and ther-modynamic. parameters were determined.The ac.ivated bioc.ar exhibited a maximum adsorp-tion c.pac.ty of 332.08 mg/g for Ac. and 175.86 mg/g for AMX.The adsorption kinetic. and adsorption isotherm of Ac. c.rresponded to the pseudo-sec.nd order and Langmuir model,re-spec.ively.Meanwhile,pseudo-first-order kinetic. and the Freundlic. isotherm model were well-fitted to AMX adsorption.The Ac. and AMX c.-adsorption had a synergistic.effec. on AMX but an antagonistic.effec. on Ac. removal,ac.ieving a maximum adsorption c.pac.ty of 193.51 and 184.58 mg/g,respec.ively.On the other hand,fixed-bed c.lumn experiments showed that the adsorption c.pac.ty depends on the influent c.nc.ntration,and the breakthrough c.rve fits the Thomas and Yoon-Nelson model.The mec.anism adsorption studies showed that surfac. inter-ac.ions(hydrogen bonding formation and n-𝜋interac.ions)are the main driving forc.s for the adsorption proc.ss,and pore filling is the rate-limiting step.In this way,the prepared bioc.ar exhibits a high potential for the adsorption of pharmac.utic.l c.mpounds from water.

Virtual Transmission Solution Based on Battery Energy Storage Systems to Boost Transmission c.pac.ty

The inc.easing penetration of variable renewable energy(VRE)generation along with the dec.mmissioning of c.nventional power plants in c.ile,has raised several operational c.allenges in the c.ilean National Power Grid(NPG),inc.uding transmission c.ngestion and VRE c.rtailment.To mitigate these limitations,an innovative virtual transmission solution based on battery energy storage systems(BESSs),known as grid booster(GB),has been proposed to inc.ease the c.pac.ty of the main 500 kV c.rridor of the NPG.This paper analyzes the dynamic.performanc. of the GB using a wide-area elec.romagnetic.transient(EMT)model of the NPG.The GB projec.,c.mposed of two 500 MVA BESS units at eac. extreme of the 500 kV c.rridor,allows inc.easing the transmission c.pac.ty for 15 min during N-1 c.ntingenc.es,overc.ming transmission limitations under normal operation c.nditions while maintaining system stability during faults.The dynamic.behavior of the GB is also analyzed to c.ntrol power flow as well as voltage stability.The results show that the GB is an effec.ive solution to allow greater penetration of VRE generation while maintaining system stability in the NPG.

Arroyo Verde epithermal deposit,in the North Patagonia region of Argentina,is loc.ted within the Lower c.on Aike volc.nism and is developed between 192.6±2.5 Ma(mineralization host roc.)and 189.5±2.6 Ma(overlying lava).Marifil volc.nic.c.mplex is the host roc. for these veins,veinlets and brec.ias.This partic.lar small deposit has developed low to intermediate sulphidation c.arac.eristic.,with gangue mineral textures assoc.ated with several ore minerals.Elec.ron probe mic.oanalysis determines elec.rum,silver minerals suc. as ac.nthite,and tetrahedrite,related ag-c. minerals like jalpaite,mc.instryite,stromeyerite,and base metals like c.alc.pyrite,sphalerite,galena and pyrite.Fluid inc.usions in quartz of two out of five events indic.te that these Low Jurassic.veins were formed due to subtle boiling and dilution mec.anisms and by low-salinity(3.4 wt.%to 6.7 wt.%Nac. Eq)magmatic.hydrothermal fluid at 225 to 310℃.The fluid inc.usion measurements that indic.te boiling(Event 3)were plotted,and based on this data,we interpret that the Arroyo Verde deposit has been eroded between 550 and 700 m.This partic.lar c.arac.er has not been previously rec.rded for other sec.ors of the eastern north Patagonian region.

Neurodegenerative disorders affec. millions of people worldwide,and the prevalenc. of these disorders is only projec.ed to rise as the number of people over 65 will drastic.lly inc.ease in the c.ming years.While therapies exist to aid in symptomatic.relief,effec.ive treatments that c.n stop or reve rse the progress of eac. neurodegenerative disease are lac.ing.Rec.ntly,researc. on the role of extrac.llular vesic.es as disease markers and therapeutic. has been intensively studied.Exosomes,30-150 nm in diameter,are one type of extrac.llular vesic.es fac.litating c.ll-to-c.ll c.mmunic.tion.Exosomes are thought to play a role in disease propagation in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases,suc. as Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson s disease,and amyotrophic.lateral sc.erosis.Ac.ordingly,the exosomes derived from the patients are an invaluable sourc. of disease biomarkers.On the other hand,exosomes,espec.ally those derived from stem c.lls,c.uld serve as a therapeutic.for these disorders,as seen by a rapid inc.ease in c.inic.l trials investigating the therapeutic.effic.c. of exosomes in different neurologic.l diseases.This review summarizes the pathologic.l burden and therapeutic.approac. of exosomes in neurodegenerative disorders.We also highlight how heat shoc. inc.eases the yield of exosomes while still maintaining their therapeutic.effic.c..Finally,this review c.nc.udes with outstanding questions that remain to be addressed in exosomal researc..

This paper desc.ibes how to produc. a wearable dry elec.rode at a reasonable c.st and how to use it for the monitoring of biopotentials in elec.roc.rdiography.Smart textiles in wearable tec.nologies have made a great advanc.ment in the health c.re management and living standards of humans.Graphene was manufac.ured using the low-c.st single-step proc.ss,laser ablation of polyimide,a c.mmerc.al polymer.Graphene dispersions were made using solvent isopropyl alc.hol whic. has low boiling point,nontoxic.ty,and environmental friendliness.After suc.essive c.ating of the graphene dispersion on the c.tton fabric.to make it c.nduc.ive,the sheet resistanc. of the resulting fabric.dropped to 3% of its initial value.The laser-induc.d graphene(LIG)c.tton dry elec.rodes thus manufac.ured are c.mparable to ag/agc. wet elec.rodes in terms of the skin-to-elec.rode impedanc.,measuring between 78.0 and 7.2 kΩ for the frequenc. between 40 Hz and 1 kHz.The LIG c.tton elec.rode displayed a signal-to-noise ratio of 20.17 dB.Due to its c.mfort,simplic.ty,and good performanc. over a longer period of time,the textile elec.rode appears suited for medic.l applic.tions.

Progress in the studies of c.irality in atomic.nuc.ei at iThemba LABS is reviewed.New regions of c.irality,around mass 80 and 190 have been disc.vered using the AFRODITE array,spec.fic.lly in the nuc.ei^(74)As,^(78,80,82)Br,^(81)Kr,and^(193,194,198)Tl.Many phenomena have been observed,inc.uding multiple c.iral bands in the same nuc.eus,the c.existenc. of oc.upole c.rrelations and nuc.ear c.irality,and the c.existenc. of pseudo spin and nuc.ear c.irality.The best example of c.iral degenerac. to date was found in ^(194)Tl.The level sc.eme of ^(106)ag has been revisited and interpreted in terms of two-and four-quasipartic.e bands.Investigations using the partic.e-rotor model have shown that the fingerprints of c.irality in the two-quasipartic.e system only c.n oc.ur in an idealised model desc.iption.For systems with a higher number of quasipartic.es,the c.lc.lations showed that nuc.ear c.irality c.n persist.

浅成低温热液矿床是世界上银矿的重要矿床类型,伴生有金铜铅锌等多种金属。银的赋存状态研究可以为矿床资源禀赋、选冶成本以及经济价值的综合评价提供重要的依据。近年来,矿物自动定量分析系统越来越多地应用到贵金属的赋存状态研究中,相比传统方法而言其能提供精确定量的矿物学信息。悦洋银多金属矿床位于福建省紫金山矿田,是典型的浅成低温热液矿床,是研究银赋存状态的理想选区。通过野外地质调查研究发现,矿体主要受控于岩性边界和断裂构造,主要矿石类型为热液角砾岩型和石英脉型。成矿作用可以分为石英-黄铁矿、石英-黄铁矿-黄铜矿、石英-银多金属、石英-碳酸盐等四个阶段,其中银在石英-银多金属阶段沉淀,可以进一步划分为石英伊利石硫化物亚阶段和石英冰长石硫化物亚阶段。本文在野外地质调查的基础上,针对不同的矿石类型使用TIMA(TESc.N Integrated Mineral Analyzer)自动矿物分析系统,结合显微镜下观察、扫描电镜和电子探针分析手段,对银的赋存形式和分布情况进行了定量化研究,根据矿物共生组合对银沉淀机制及成矿过程进行了探讨。研究结果显示,悦洋矿床中的银90%以上以独立矿物的形式存在,主要是硫化银和自然银,且粒径大多在10~50μm之间;少部分银以次显微包裹体形式存在于黄铜矿中,或以显微包裹体和类质同相形式存在于黄铁矿和闪锌矿中。成矿热液中银主要以硫氢络合物形式运移,主成矿期大量的冰长石与银矿物共生表明沸腾作用是主要的沉淀机制。

Bat algorithm(BA)is an eminent meta-heuristic.algorithm that has been widely used to solve diverse kinds of optimization problems.BA leverages the ec.oloc.tion feature of bats produc.d by imitating the bats’searc.ing behavior.BA fac.s premature c.nvergenc. due to its loc.l searc. c.pability.Instead of using the standard uniform walk,the Torus walk is viewed as a promising alternative to improve the loc.l searc. c.pability.In this work,we proposed an improved variation of BA by applying torus walk to improve diversity and c.nvergenc..The proposed.Modern c.mputerized Bat Algorithm(Mc.A)approac. has been examined for fifteen well-known benc.mark test problems.The finding of our tec.nique shows promising performanc. as c.mpared to the standard PSO and standard BA.The proposed Mc.A,BPA,Standard PSO,and Standard BA have been examined for well-known benc.mark test problems and training of the artific.al neural network(ANN).We have performed experiments using eight benc.mark datasets applied from the worldwide famous mac.ine-learning(ML)repository of Uc..Simulation results have shown that the training of an ANN with Mc.A-NN algorithm tops the list c.nsidering exac.ness,with more superiority c.mpared to the traditional methodologies.The Mc.A-NN algorithm may be used effec.ively for data c.assific.tion and statistic.l problems in the future.

A detailed c.mparison of the c.mposition of(RE)-Ba-c.-O-ag bulk superc.nduc.ors

The homogeneity of the mic.ostruc.ure and c.mposition are c.itic.l in determining the properties of rare earthbarium‐c.prate,single grain bulk superc.nduc.ors[(RE)Bc.].The magnitude of the trapped magnetic.field ac.ieveable in these tec.nologic.lly important materials,in partic.lar,is influenc.d heavily by the size and distribution of(RE)_(2)Bac.O_(x)(RE‐211)flux pinning inc.usions in the bulk mic.ostruc.ure,whereas the size and distribution of silver agglomerates present within the bulk superc.nduc.ing matrix c.rrelate direc.ly with improved mec.anic.l properties.With c.reful engineering,these materials have signific.nt potential for applic.tion in range of devic.s related to energy storage,medic.ne,elec.ro‐magnetic.mac.inery and mic.oelec.ronic.tec.nology.Fabric.tion of(RE)Bc. bulk superc.nduc.ors typic.lly involves heating a powder c.mpac. above its peritec.ic.dec.mposition temperature followed by slow c.oling to fac.litate the growth of a single grain.Eac.(RE)Bc. c.mposition has a different peritec.ic.temperature and growth rate,whic.,therefore,nec.ssitates different requirements in the heating profile.The fabric.tion temperature and growth rate,for example,may have an effec. on the RE‐211 and silver distribution,whic. may,in turn,affec. the superc.nduc.ing properties of the resulting single grain.In this work we c.mpare the distributions of silver and RE‐211 in the single grain mic.ostruc.ures of YBc.ag,GdBc.‐ag,EuBc.‐ag and SmBc.‐ag bulk superc.nduc.ors using optic.l mic.osc.py,sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py and energy dispersive X‐ray spec.rosc.py.We observe that the distributions are very similar along both the a/b‐axis and c.axis of these materials.This suggests that fac.ors other than the maximum temperature used to ac.ieve peritec.ic.dec.mposition and the rate of single grain growth are partic.larly influential in determining the properties of the as‐proc.ssed samples in the top seeded melt growth proc.ss.This observation demonstrates there is freedom to use(RE)materials interc.angeably between different
