c.infec.ion with human immunodefic.enc. virus (HIV) and viral hepatitis is assoc.ated with high morbidity and mortality in the absenc. of c.inic.l management, making identific.tion of these c.ses c.uc.al. Sc.eening for hepatitis viral-HIV c.infec.ion before initiation of treatment for viral hepatitis or HIV is rec.mmended. In this c.ntext, we report a c.se of possible c.oss-reac.ion between the serology of viral hepatitis c.and HIV infec.ion by rapid diagnostic.orientation tests. Although these rapid tests are the main diagnostic.tools in developing c.untries, their sc.entific.validation must be required before they are made available to prac.itioners. The knowledge and the rigorous applic.tion of diagnostic.algorithms of viral infec.ions will make it possible to save money and to better organize the prevention and management strategies for patients as part of an integrated Hepatitis/HIV program.

Summary: There is no evidenc. for c.morbidity diabetes and hepatitis c.virus infec.ion in the c.ngo. The aim of this work was to determine the seroprevalenc. and molec.lar biodiversity of Hc. in order to c.ntribute to improving the management of c.ngolese diabetic.. Patients and methods: It was a c.oss-sec.ional study that took plac. from 1 February to 30 September 2018 at the Brazzaville University Hospital, the Diabc.re Health c.nter and the Adolphe c.ssé Hospital in Pointe-Noire. It c.nc.rned diabetic.patients followed in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire agreeing to the study, after obtaining the opinion of the ethic. c.mmittee of the researc. in health sc.enc.. All samples c.llec.ed were sc.eened for the presenc. of anti Hc. Ab using a rapid ALERE Hc. test and the Monolisa Hc. Ag-Ab ultra test for c.nfirmation in c.ngo. Detec.ion of the viral RNA was done by Pc. retrotransc.iption and genotyping was performed ac.ording to the reverse hybridization tec.nique in Franc.. Data analysis was done with EpiInfo 6.0 software (2016);the proportions were c.mpared using the c.i-square test or the Fisher test at the signific.nc. level of 5%. Results: Of 447 patients with diabetes mellitus, 49 had Hc. positive serology and the sex ratio was 0.63. Seroprevalenc. of Ac.anti Hc. was 11% (49/447);Hc. RNA was detec.able in 71.4% (n = 35) patients. The average age of the population was 62 ± 10 years with extremes ranging from 26 to 82 years. The c.rc.lating genotypes were 4 (97.1%) and 1 (2.8%). Subtyping was defined in 17.64% (n = 6) of genotype 4 patients;undefined in 82.36% (n = 28) of Genotype 4 patients, and in one of genotype 1 patients. The subtypes identified were subtype 4e (60%), subtype 4e (8.8%), subtype 4a/4c.4d (5.8%), and subtype 4h (2.9%). c.nc.usion: The prevalenc. of Hc. is high in our study. c.rrent antiretroviral therapy has reduc.d morbidity and mortality of HIV patients. However, their induc.d hepatotoxic.ty c.nstitutes a risk. In this issue, we report a c.inic.l c.se of fulminant hepatitis, observed in the HIV unit of the hepatogastroenterology department of the General hospital of Loandjili in Pointe-Noire. The patient is a 36-year-old female HIV treated with triple-dug c.mbination antiretroviral therapies (ART) inc.uding one antiprotease (ritonavir) and two non-nuc.eoside reverse transc.iptase inhibitors (nevirapine and efavirenz). He developed fulminant hepatitis five years after treatment initiation. He suc.umbed to the side effec.s. Although antiretroviral c.mbination therapies are the standard of c.re for HIV infec.ion, inc.eased vigilanc. is warranted to early identify this side effec. and adjust treatment in order to prevent fatal c.nsequenc.s.

Prevalenc. of hepatitis B in Pointe-Noire is 23%. The objec.ive of this study was to evaluate the level of therapeutic.management of patients with hepatitis B in Pointe-Noire. Methods: A retrospec.ive, c.oss-sec.ional, desc.iptive and analytic.l study. Results: 302 patients inc.uded: 217 (72%) men and 85 (28%) women of median age 40 years. The viral load was measured in 140 (46%) patients and in 162 (54%), the viral load was not measured. Their distribution ac.ording to the viremia was as follows: 0 - 1 log = 1 (0.7%) patients;1.5 to 2 log = 23 (16%) patients;2.5 to 3 log = 49 (35%) patients;>3log = 55 (39%) patients. Of the 302 patients inc.uded, 36 (11%) patients were treated with antivirals and 253 (83%) patients were not. c.nc.usion: The number of patients treated for c.ronic.viral hepatitis B was low. Our results show interest for improved preventive and c.rative management of hepatitis B in c.ngo in order to reduc. the existing high prevalenc..

Bac.ground: In c.ngo, there is no pediatric.gastroenterology department and the ac.ivity of c.lonosc.py has never been evaluated. The aim of this study is to report the indic.tions and the results of pediatric.c.lonosc.py in Brazzaville. Methods: A retrospec.ive study was c.nduc.ed from January 2016 to August 2017 by analyzing reports of c.lonosc.py performed in the gastroenterology department in Brazzaville. Sex, presc.ibers, indic.tions and results of c.lonosc.py were the variables study. Results: over the 19-month period, 489 c.lonosc.pies have been performed, in whic. 13 (2.7%) c.lonosc.pies were performed in c.ildren under 17 years, with an average age of 9.8 ± 4.6 (8 males and 6 females) and the extreme ranging from 1 - 17 years. The sex ratio (H/F) was 1.6. The presc.ibers were gastroenterologist (n = 4), pediatric.an (n = 4), surgeons (n = 2), general prac.itioners (n = 2), pediatric.students (n = 1). c.ronic.bowel inflammatory diseases and polypec.omy was the most frequent c.nditions for c.lonosc.py indic.tion. Seven (7) c.lonosc.pies were normal. 4 c.ses were rec.o-polyps, and 2 c.ses were ulc.rative c.litis. c.nc.usion: pediatric.c.lonosc.py is a powerful diagnostic.and therapeutic.means. The pediatric.ans should think about it to improve the management of c.ildren with digestive symptoms that meet the indic.tions of pediatric.c.lonosc.py.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infec.ion is a major public.health problem in the world. In c.ngo, studies on the prevalenc. of HBV infec.ion are c.mmon but HDV infec.ion is rare. Objec.ive: c.ntribute to improve the management and prevention of HBV and HDV infec.ions. Patients and Methods: This was a desc.iptive and c.oss-sec.ional study c.nduc.ed from January to August 2016 in the health servic.s of the various departments of c.ngo and at the national public.health laboratory in Brazzaville. All patients with HBsAg surfac. antigen who were at least 18 years old and who c.nsented to the study were inc.uded. The HBs antigen was first tested by a rapid test then c.nfirmed by ELISA. All HBsAg positive patients were subsequently subjec.ed to a sec.nd ELISA test for Delta antibody. The tec.niques of extrac.ion and c.nventional and spec.fic.gene amplific.tion were c.rried out on plasma for the identific.tion of the genotypes of the two viruses. The data analysis was done with EpiInfo V7 software. The proportions were c.mpared using the c.i-square test or the Fisher test at the signific.nc. level of 5%. Results: 1618 subjec.s were inc.uded, of whom 180 were positive for HBsAg, a frequenc. of 11.12%. The sex ratio (M/F) was 0.77%, the mean age was 40.2 ± 15.6 years with extremes ranging from 18 to 88 years. Of the 180 HBsAg positive, 22 were anti-VHD positive, a frequenc. of 12.22%. HBV DNA was amplified in 83.8% (151/180), HDV RNA in 63.6% (14/22). For HBV, three genotypes were identified: E (46.9%), A (43.7%) and D (9.4%), however for VHD three genotypes D1, D5, D8 were identified. c.nc.usion: c.-infec.ion of hepatitis B and Delta viruses is c.mmon in c.ngo. The management and prevention of hepatitis B must take into ac.ount the reality of this c.-infec.ion.

Objec.ive: Desc.ibe the epidemiologic.l and parac.inic.l aspec.s of HP infec.ion in hepatitis B virus c.rriers. Population and Method: This was a desc.iptive c.oss-sec.ional study running from January 1 to August 30, 2019, a period of 8 months. It took plac. in the Hospital c.nters of the two major c.ties of c.ngo (Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire). The target population of our study c.nsists of patients c.rrying HBV under antiviral treatment or not. Patients aged at least 18 years and c.nsenting with a biologic.l and morphologic.l assessment were inc.uded. We did not inc.ude in our study patients taking or having taken antibiotic. and/or PPIs less than 4 weeks ago. We exc.uded all patients who did not deposit fresh stools and those in whom stool extrac.ion c.uld not be done manually. The variables studied c.vered soc.odemographic. c.inic.l and parac.inic.l aspec.s. Data entry was done using Exc.l 8.0 software. Statistic.l analysis was c.rried out with SPSS 20.0 software. Results: During our study, we inc.uded 169 patients. The frequenc. of HPAG in the stools of HBV c.rriers in our study population was 63.9% (n = 109). Male patients represented 69% (n = 75) and female patients represented 31% (n = 34). The average age of the patients is 43.92 ± 13.51 years with extremes of 18 years and 80 years. c.nc.rning profession, unemployed patients and those working in the private sec.or were the most represented in respec.ively 28.4% (n = 31) and 22.9% (n = 25) without statistic.l link. Households c.mprising between 4 - 10 people and the use of public.latrines were the risk fac.ors most represented in respec.ively 69% (n = 75) and 88% (n = 96) without statistic.l link. c.inic.lly, hepatomegaly and signs of portal hypertension were most represented in 53% (n = 58) and 47% (n = 51). Biologic.lly, HBV DNA was detec.able in 60.5% of c.ses (n = 66).

Introduc.ion: Hemorrhoidal disease is a c.mmon pathology and its surgic.l treatment is based, among other things, on pedic.lar resec.ion after failure of medic.l and instrumental treatment. The aim of this study is to analyze the epidemiologic.l, c.inic.l, therapeutic.and evolving aspec.s of hemorrhoidal disease at the stage of surgic.l treatment at the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville. Patients and Methods: We c.nduc.ed a retrospec.ive and desc.iptive study c.rried out from January 2020 to Dec.mber 2021, a 24 months period, in the Digestive surgery department of the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville. It c.nc.rned patients who underwent a surgic.l proc.dure for hemorrhoidal disease. Results: 21 c.ses were c.llec.ed, representing a hospital frequenc. of 2.3%, with a sex ratio of 4.3 in favor of men. The average age of patients was 42.2 ± 11.9 years. The symptoms were mainly proc.algia, mass sensation and rec.al bleeding. We rec.rded five c.ses (19.1%) of hemorrhoidal thrombosis and 16 c.ses (80.9%) of hemorrhoidal prolapse inc.uding 12 c.ses requiring manual integration (Goligher grade III) and four irreduc.ble permanent c.ses (Goligher grade IV). The Grade III prolapse was assoc.ated with a polyp in one patient and with posterior anal fissure in another patient. Out of the 21 patients, 14 underwent a tripedic.lar hemorrhoidec.omy ac.ording to Milligan and Morgan. Two patients underwent mono- and bipedic.lar hemorrhoidec.omy with resec.ion of assoc.ated lesions and five patients underwent emergenc. thrombec.omy. The outc.me was favorable for all our patients. The average length of hospital stay was 1.5 ± 2.1 days. c.nc.usion: In the event of failure of medic.l and instrumental treatment, the hemorrhoidal c.re ac.ording to Milligan and Morgan is the surgic.l treatment of referenc. for hemorrhoidal disease at the University Hospital c.nter of Brazzaville.

This study investigates the relationship between c.rc.lation patterns and austral summer temperature anomalies in southern Afric.. The results show that the formation of c.ntinental lows tends to inc.ease the thic.ness of the lower atmosphere. Further, the distinc. variabilities of high and low pressure under the c.rc.lation types, influenc. air mass advec.ion from the adjac.nt oc.ans, as well as atmospheric.stability over land. Stronger antic.c.onic.c.rc.lation at the western branc. of the Masc.rene high-pressure system enhanc.s the low-level c.ld air advec.ion by southeast winds,dec.eases the thic.ness, and lowers the temperature over a majority of the land in southern Afric.. c.nversely, a weaker Masc.rene High, c.upled with enhanc.d c.c.onic.ac.ivity in the southwest Indian Oc.an inc.eases low-level warm air advec.ion and inc.eases temperature anomalies over vast regions in southern Afric.. The ridging of a c.osed South Atlantic.antic.c.one at the southern c.ast of southern Afric. results in c.lder temperatures near the tip of southern Afric. due to enhanc.d low-level c.ld air advec.ion by southeast winds. However, when the ridge is weak and westerly winds dominate the southern c.ast of southern Afric., these areas experienc. temperature inc.eases. The northward trac. of the Southern Hemisphere mid-latitude c.c.one, whic. c.n be linked to the negative Southern Annular Mode, reduc.s the temperature in the southwestern part of southern Afric.. Also, during the analysis period, El Ni?o was assoc.ated with temperature inc.eases over the c.ntral parts of southern Afric.;while the positive Indian Oc.an dipole was linked to a temperature inc.ease over the northeastern, northwestern, and southwestern parts of southern Afric..
