Light sheet microscope scanning of biointegrated microlasers for localized refractive index sensing

Whispering gallery mode(WGM)microlasers are highly sensitive to localized refractive index changes allowing to link their emission spectrum to various chemical,mechanical,or physical *** recently found applications in biological studies within single cells,in three-dimensional samples such as multicellular spheroids,or in ***,detailed studies of biological samples also need to account for the structural heterogeneity of tissues and live animals,therefore requiring a combination of high-resolution microscopy and laser ***,we design and construct a light sheet fluorescence microscope with a coupled spectrometer for use in microlaser studies for combined high-resolution,high-speed imaging and WGM spectral *** light sheet illumination profile and the decoupled geometry of excitation and emission hereby directly affect the lasing and sensing properties,mainly through geometric constraints and by light coupling *** demonstrate the basic working principle of microlaser spectroscopy under light sheet excitation and measure the absolute refractive index within agarose and in zebrafish tail muscle *** further analyze the light coupling conditions that lead to the occurrence of two separate oscillation *** so-called cross modes can be scanned around the entire microlaser surface,which allows to estimate a surface-averaged refractive index profile of the microlaser environment.

Doubled haploid(dh)technology and synthetic apomixis approaches can considerably shorten breeding cycles and enhance breeding *** with traditional breeding methods,dh technology offers the advantage of rapidly generating inbred lines,while synthetic apomixis can effectively fix hybrid *** this review,we focus on(i)recent advances in identifying and characterizing genes responsible for haploid induction(Hl),(ii)the molecular mechanisms of Hl,(ili)spontaneous haploid genome doubling,and(iv)crop synthetic *** also discuss the challenges and potential solutions for future crop breeding programs utilizing dh technology and synthetic ***,we provide our perspectives about how to integrate dh and synthetic apomixis for precision breeding and de novo domestication.

The vertical floating catalyst method is first used to produce single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) continuously on a large scale by a newly developed technique and pyrolysis of n-hexane. Diameter distributions, micro-structure and purity of the SWNTs film, rope and web are measured by raman spectroscopy and electron microscope. The results show that SWNTs product has a high degree of orientation, a wide distribution of diameters (0.7-2.0 nm) and high purity of > 80 %.

remote sensing tools are becoming increasingly important for providing spatial information on water use by different ecosystems. Despite significant advances in remote sensing based evapotranspiration(ET) models in recent years, important information gaps still exist on the accuracy of the models particularly in arid and semi-arid environments. In this study, we evaluated the Penman-Monteith based MOD16 and the modified Priestley-Taylor(PT-JPL) models at the daily time step against three measured ET datasets. We used data from two summer and one winter rainfall sites in South Africa. One site was dominated by native broad leaf and the other by fine leafed deciduous savanna tree species and c4 grasses. The third site was in the winter rainfall cape region and had shrubby fynbos vegetation. Actual ET was measured using open-path eddy covariance systems at the summer rainfall sites while a surface energy balance system utilizing the large aperture boundary layer scintillometer was used in the cape. Model performance varied between sites and between years with the worst estimates(r2rMSE>0.80 mm/d) observed during years with prolonged mid-summer dry spells in the summer rainfall areas. Sensitivity tests on MOD16 showed that the leaf area index, surface conductance and radiation budget parameters had the largest effect on simulated ET. MOD16 ET predictions were improved by:(1) reformulating the emissivity expressions in the net radiation equation;(2) incorporating representative surface conductance values;and(3) including a soil moisture stress function in the transpiration sub-model. Implementing these changes increased the accuracy of MOD16 daily ET predictions at all sites. However, similar adjustments to the PT-JPL model yielded minimal improvements. We conclude that the MOD16 ET model has the potential to accurately predict water use in arid environments provided soil water stress and accurate biome-specific parameters are incorporated.

The microstructure of the Ti-5Al-4Sn-2Zr-1Mo-0.25Si-1Nd (Ti-55) alloy containing second phase particles was studied. The second phase particles are 1 similar to 15 mu m in size and most of them are distributed at the grain boundaries in the form of ellipsoid with a few short needle-like and blocky phases. It consists of either dark or bright amorphous 'matrix', and some small spots dispersed within the 'matrix', which match SnO (orthorhombic, a=0.500 nm, b=0.572 nm, c=1.12 nm).

Fe_(81)Al_(19) polycrystalline alloys doped with Tb(0-0.25 at%) were obtained by arc *** introduction of Tb favors the formation of columnar grains in the micro structure of the alloys,which develops a texture in the [100]crystal *** examination shows that the alloys are composed in great proportion by the disordered body-centered cubic(bcc),A2 phase and by a small proportion of the ordered bcc,B2 *** a consequence of doping with Tb,the lattice parameter increases,so the calculated apparent crystallite size increases,indicating a decrease in dislocation density and therefore in *** change in the magnetostriction with the magnetic field,dλ_(T)/dh,is directly related to strain anisotropy that can favor the iron easy magnetization axis on the [100] *** increase in total magnetostriction is found in the doped alloys with a maximum of 90 × 10^(-6) at 300 K for the alloy containing 0.027 at% *** enhancement is a threefold value of the undoped alloy,which is attributed to the smaller maximum strain value and the preferential orientation formation by the columnar grains.

目的　了解静脉药瘾者人类免疫缺陷病毒 (HIV)感染情况及感染亚型 ,追踪传染源 ,预测未来流行株。方法　对 1997年从新疆至杭州的 15例静脉药瘾者血清进行抗 HIV的初步筛选 ,结果为阳性者再行免疫印迹 (Westernblot)、套式聚合酶链反应 (Nest Pcr)及HIV核酸序列分析。结果15例新疆籍静脉药瘾者均感染了HIV 1,其中有 2例为E亚型 ,其余均为c亚型。结论　静脉吸毒者主要感染HIV 1c亚型。我国HIV 1主要流行株可能已经发生变化。
