ZnO nanoparticles of different sizes were prepared by varying the molar ratio of glycine and zinc nitrate hexahydrate as fuel and oxidizer （0.1, 0.8, 1.11, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0） by simple solution combustion method. UV-Visible spectrophotometry studies show that, the band gap of the prepared ZnO nanoparticles increases with increasing fuel to oxidant （F/O） molar ratio up to 1.7 revealing the formation of ZnO nanoparticles. The decrease in band gap for the sample of F/O molar ratio 2.0 is due to an increase in particle size. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns of the prepared samples show the formation of single phase ZnO nanoparticles and the particle size decreases with increasing F/O molar ratio up to 1.7. surface morphology of the prepared samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy and it was observed that, the porosity increases with increasing F/O molar ratio. Dc electrical conductivity at room temperature and in the temperature range of 303-563 K was studied for all the samples and the results revealed that, the sample of F/O molar ratio 1.7 has low electrical conductivity at room temperature and high EAR （high temperature activation energy） compared to other samples.

Formulation and numerical evaluation of a novel twice-interpolation finite element method （TFEM） is presented for solid mechanics problems. In this method, the trial function for Galerkin weak form is constructed through two stages of consecutive interpolation. The primary interpolation follows exactly the same procedure of standard FEM and is further reproduced according to both nodal values and averaged nodal gradients obtained from primary interpolation. The trial functions thus constructed have continuous nodal gradients and contain higher order polynomial without increasing total freedoms. several benchmark examples and a real dam problem are used to examine the TFEM in terms of accuracy and convergence. compared with standard FEM, TFEM can achieve significantly better accuracy and higher convergence rate, and the continuous nodal stress can be obtained without any smoothing operation. It is also found that TFEM is insensitive to the quality of the elemental mesh. In addition, the present TFEM can treat the incompressible material without any modification.

A novel numerical method is explored and named as mesh-free poly-cell Galerkin method. An improved moving least-square （MLs） scheme is presented, which can avoid the matrix inversion in standard MLs and can be used to construct shape functions possessing delta Kronecher property. A new type of local support is introduced to ensure the alignment of integral domains with the cells of the back-ground mesh, which will reduce the difficult in integration. An intensive numerical study is conducted to test the accuracy of the present method. It is observed that solutions with good accuracy can be obtained with the present method.

Recently, the high-tech industry has become a key industry for economic development in many countries. however, vibration sensitive equipment located in these industrial buildings is vulnerable during earthquakes, which may cause huge economic loss. In this study, an innovative isolator for safeguarding the vibration sensitive equipment, namely, the static dynamics interchangeable^all pendulum system （sDI-BPs） is proposed and investigated to examine its protective capability for the vibration sensitive equipment during earthquakes through a series of tri-directional shaking table tests. The experimental results illustrate that the sDI-BPs isolator can provide significant damping to rolling types of base isolation systems for reducing the bearing displacement and size, and avoid the stress concentration, which can cause damage or scratches on the rolling surface of the isolator, to prolong its life span of service. The sDI-BPs isolator also provides excellent capability in protecting the vibration sensitive equipment and exhibits a stable behavior under long terms of service loadings and earthquakes.

We report on the structural,magnetic,and magnetocaloric properties of *** oxidation states of Eu and Rh ions were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPs）.It is found that the Eu ions are mainly in the divalent oxidation state while the Rh ions have+4 ***3powders are found to be antiferromagnetic with a second order magnetic transition at Neel temperature（TN=2.9 K）.Analysis of the magnetic susceptibility versus temperature data in terms of the curie=Weiss law:(χ=c/（T-θW）) for T>TN,yields θW=-3.1 K and effective magne tic moment ■,which is close to the theoretical value ■.The magnetic entropy change(-ΔsM),was determined by em ploying the thermodynam ic Maxwell's *** μ0h=5 T and near TN,■ and relative cooling power（RcP） exhibit large values of 33.7 J/（kg·K） and 238 J/kg,*** large magnitude of-ΔsMand RcP show that the EuRhO3compound could be a potential candidate to be used in cryogenic magnetic refrigeration.

Buckling restrained braces （BRBs） have been widely applied in seismic mitigation since they were introduced in the 1970s. however, traditional BRBs have several disadvantages caused by using a steel tube to envelope the mortar to prevent the core plate from buckling, such as： complex interfaces between the materials used, uncertain precision, and time consumption during the manufacturing processes. In this study, a new device called the multi-curve buckling restrained brace （Mc-BRB） is proposed to overcome these disadvantages. The new device consists of a core plate with multiple neck portions assembled to form multiple energy dissipation segments, and the enlarged segment, lateral support elements and constraining elements to prevent the BRB from buckling. The enlarged segment located in the middle of the core plate can be welded to the lateral support and constraining elements to increase buckling resistance and to prevent them from sliding during earthquakes. component tests and a series of shaking table tests on a full-scale steel structure equipped with Mc-BRBs were carried out to investigate the behavior and capability of this new BRB design for seismic mitigation. The experimental results illustrate that the Mc-BRB possesses a stable mechanical behavior under cyclic loadings and provides good protection to structures during earthquakes. Also, a mathematical model has been developed to simulate the mechanical characteristics of BRBs.
