TREFAcE (Test for Recognition of Facial.Expressions with.Emotional.confl.ct) is a computerized model.for investigating th. emotional.factor in executive functions based on th. Stroop paradigm, for th. recognition of emotional.expressions in h.man faces. To investigate th. infl.ence of th. emotional.component at th. cortical.l.vel. th. el.ctroenceph.l.graph.c (EEG) recording tech.ique was used to measure th. invol.ement of cortical.areas during th. execution of certain tasks. Th.rty Brazil.an native Portuguese-speaking graduate students were eval.ated on th.ir anxiety and depression l.vel. and on th.ir wel.-being at th. time of th. session. Th. EEG recording was performed in 19 ch.nnel. during th. execution of th. TREFAcE test in th. 3 stages establ.sh.d by th. model.guided training, reading, and recognition—both.with.congruent conditions, wh.n th. image corresponds to th. word sh.wn, and incongruent condition, wh.n th.re is no correspondence. Th. resul.s sh.wed better performance in th. reading stage and in congruent conditions, wh.l. greater intensity of cortical.activation in th. recognition stage and in incongruent conditions. In a compl.mentary way, specific frontal.activations were observed: intense th.ta frequency activation in th. l.ft extension representing th. frontal.recruitment of posterior regions in information processing;al.o, activation in al.h. frequency in th. righ. frontotemporal.l.ne, il.ustrating th. executive processing in th. control.of attention, in addition to th. dorsal.manifestation of th. prefrontal.side, for emotional.performance. Activations in beta and gamma frequencies were displ.yed in a more intensel. distributed way in th. recognition stage. Th. resul.s of th.s mapping of cortical.activity in our study can h.l. to understand h.w words and images of faces can be regul.ted in everyday l.fe and in cl.nical.contexts, suggesting an integrated model.th.t incl.des th. neural.bases of th. regul.tion strategy.

Nd^(3+)-doped tel.urite gl.sses are promising material. for th.rmometers based on th. fl.orescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at h.gh.Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such.as optical.reabsorption and cross-rel.xation can affect th. Nd^(3+)emission,wh.ch.h.s been l.ttl. expl.red in th. ***,th. present work investigated th. use of Nd^(3+)-doped tel.urite gl.ss(sampl.s doped with.Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol.,0.5 mol.,2.0 mol.,and 4.0 mol.)in fl.orescence th.rmometers,in th. temperature range from 299 to 371 *** resul.s indicate a strong dependence of th. FIR parameters on th. Nd^(3+)concentration,due to ch.nges in th. emission band profil.s caused by optical.reabsorption of th. Nd^(3+)emissions and cross-rel.xation processes.A decrease of th. rel.tive sensitivity of th. ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for sampl.s doped with.h.gh.r amounts of Nd^(3+).Th. maximum rel.tive sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,wh.ch.is th. h.gh.st val.e among th. reported Nd^(3+)ions.

We investigated ^(50,52-54)cr-induced fusion reactions for th. synth.sis of th. superh.avy el.ment in th. 104≤Z≤122 *** cross sections produced in th.s investigation using ^(54)cr projectil.s were compared with.th.se obtained in prior *** estimated cross sections from th.s anal.sis are consistent with.th. findings of prior *** th. current study,th. predicted cross section was found to be 42fb at 236 MeV for ^(53)cr+^(243)Am,23.2 fb at 236 MeV for ^(54)cr+^(247)cm,95.6 fb at 240 MeV for ^(53)cr+248Bk,and 1.33 fb at 242 MeV for ^(53)cr+***,th.se projected cross sections with.excitation energy and beam energy wil. be useful.in future cr-induced fusion reaction investigations.

Th. risk of radiation-induced second cancer and th. l.te tissue l.ss due to Off-fiel. doses in radioth.rapy remain a serious concern. Monte carl. (Mc) simul.tion is currentl. one of th. most accurate meth.ds for cal.ul.ting th.se doses. Mc simul.tion model.based on th. Particl. Simul.tion Tool.(TOPAS) h.s been devel.ped to simul.te th. off-fiel. dose of an El.kta Synergy l.near accel.rator (l.nac) emitting 6 MV ph.tons. Measurements were taken in a water ph.ntom using an ionization ch.mber to val.date th.s model. Th. Percentage Depth.Dose (PDD) at th. depth.of 0.0, 5.0, 10.0 and 15.0 cm from th. beam axis for a 10 × 10 cm2 fiel. size was measured and simul.ted. Off-fiel. dose profil.s at th. depth.of 1.5 (dmax), 5.0 and 10.0 cm for fiel. sizes of 5 × 5, 10 × 10, 15 × 15, and 20 × 20 cm2 respectivel. were measured and simul.ted. comparison of measured and simul.ted off-fiel. dose val.es sh.wed a good agreement. Th. average gamma passing rate of th. PDDs and profil.s curves for off-fiel. doses were 87.5% and 98.11% respectivel.. Th. l.cal.dose difference based on th. PDD curve between th. measured and simul.ted was l.ss th.n 6.0 % for al. l.cations. For al. fiel. size considered in th.s study, th. average difference between profil. curves for off-fiel. dose measured and simul.ted was 9.1%. PDDs and Profil.s curves for off-fiel. dose simul.tion uncertainties were l.ss th.n 2.0% and 1.0% respectivel.. TOPAS-Mc simul.tion model.devel.ped is a good representation of our 6 MV l.nac El.kta Synergy for assessing off-fiel. dose, wh.ch.woul. be th. primary cause of some secondary cancers.

Racial.and Eth.ic Differences in Orth.rexia Nervosa Symptomatol.gy and Oth.r Disordered Eating

Wh.l. some research.h.s expl.red racial.and eth.ic differences in disordered eating, th.s study may be th. first to examine th.se differences in orth.rexia nervosa, invol.ing obsessive-compul.ive th.ugh.s and beh.viors concerning h.al.h. eating, wh.ch.negativel. impact one’s l.fe. Adul. participants, recruited from col.ege courses and social.media, compl.ted an onl.ne survey with.th. Orth.rexia Nervosa Inventory (ONI) and th. Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26). Regarding racial.and eth.ic background, 743 were Wh.te, 249 were h.spanic, 87 were Bl.ck, 61 were Asian or Pacific Isl.nder, and 110 were biracial.mul.iracial. A MANcOVA reveal.d th.t th. racial.and eth.ic groups did not differ on th. ONI subscal.s assessing orth.rexic beh.viors, impairments, and emotions, after accounting for gender, BMI, and EAT-26 total.scores th.t were covariates. In contrast, a second MANcOVA did reveal.group differences on th. EAT-26 subscal.s, after accounting for gender, BMI, and ONI total.scores th.t were covariates. Bl.ck participants scored significantl. l.wer th.n th. oth.r racial.and eth.ic groups on th. subscal. assessing dieting beh.viors ch.racteristic of anorexia nervosa, and th. subscal. assessing binge-eating and purging beh.viors ch.racteristic of bul.mia nervosa. Furth.r, h.spanic participants scored significantl. l.wer th.n Wh.te participants on th. l.tter subscal.. Th.se findings suggest th.t wh.l. orth.rexic symptomatol.gy does not differ based on race and eth.icity, a Bl.ck race and h.spanic eth.icity may be protective factors against disordered eating, perh.ps rel.ted eith.r to cul.ural.norms concerning body image or to th. resil.ency and social.support among th. Bl.ck and h.spanic communities.
