Abstract. We find the minimal free resolution of a fat star-configuration X in Pn of type （r, s,t） defined by general forms of degrees d1,...,dr, and show that a fat linear star- configuration X in P2 never has generic Hilbert function if （s,t） ≠ （1, 1） or （2, 2）. These two results generalize the interesting results of [2].

Family identification is helpful for predicting protein functions. It has been known from the literature that longer sequences of base pairs or amino acids are required to study patterns in biological sequences. Since most protein sequences are relatively short, we randomly concatenate or link the protein sequences from the same family or superfamily together to form longer protein sequences. The 6-letter model, 12-letter model, 20-letter model, the revised Schneider and Wrede scale hydrophobicity, solvent accessibility and stochastic standard state accessibility are used to convert linked protein sequences into numerical sequences. Then multifractal analyses and wavelet analysis are performed on these numerical sequences. The parameters from these analyses can be used to construct parameter spaces where each linked protein is represented by a point. The four classes of proteins, namely the α/β, α＋β and α/β classes, are then distinguished in these parameter spaces. The Fisher linear discriminant algorithm is used to assess the discriminant accuracy. Numerical results indicate that the discriminant accuracies are satisfactory in separating these classes. We find that the linked proteins from the same family or superfamily tend to group together and can be separated from other linked proteins. The methods are helpful for identifying the family of an unknown protein.

This study analyzes change in carbon storage by applying forest growth models and final cutting age to actual and potential forest cover for six major tree species in South Korea. Using National Forest Inventory data, the growth models were developed to estimate mean diameter at breast height, tree height, and number of trees for Pinus densiflora, Pinus koraiensis, Pinus rigida, Larix kaernpferi, Castanea crenata and Quercus spp. stands. We assumed that actual forest cover in a forest type map will change into potential forest covers according to the Hydrological and Thermal Analogy Groups model. When actual forest cover reaches the final cutting age, forest volume and carbon storage are estimated by changed forest cover and its growth model. Forest volume between 2010 and 2110 would increase from 126.73 to 157.33 m^3 hm^-2. Our results also show that forest cover, volume, and carbon storage could abruptly change by 2060. This is attributed to the fact that most forests are presumed to reach final cutting age. To avoid such dramatic change, a regeneration and yield control scheme should be prepared and implemented in a way that ensures balance in forest practice and yield.

We propose a new stabilization method for linear systems with distributed input delay via reduction transformation and Riccati equation *** the presented stabilization scheme,the gain matrix of controller is constructed by the well-known linear control technique for delay-free *** transformation kernel matrix can be determined by solving the non-symmetric matrix Riccati equation backward with the boundary *** point delay systems are considered,it will be shown that the proposed control law degenerates to the standard one for input delay systems.

A new adaptive H∞ anti-synchronization （AHAS） method is proposed for chaotic systems in the presence of unknown parameters and external disturbances. Based on the Lyapunov theory and linear matrix inequality formulation, the AHAS controller with adaptive laws of unknown parameters is derived to not only guarantee adaptive anti-synchronization but also reduce the effect of external disturbances to an H∞ norm constraint. As an application of the proposed AHAS method, the H∞anti-synchronization problem for Genesio-Tesi chaotic systems is investigated.

It is generally acceptable to assume that bed material load is equal to sediment transport capacity,if the exchange between bed and flow occurs ***,for non-equilibrium sediment transport process,there are spatial and temporal delay *** is especially true for reservoir sedimentation *** factor is a coefficient for non-equilibrium sediment *** detemiination of recovery factor can be obtained either experimentally or *** is no consensus on the value of recovery factor in previous *** simulations with a semi-two dimensional sediment transport model,GSTARS4,were conducted in this study using various methods for the determination of recovery factor proposed by previous *** results of a reservoir geometric change were sensitive to the selection of recovery *** was found that the recovery factor as a function of sediment size provided the most reasonable result.A functional relationship between recovery factor and sediment size was determined by comparing simulated and measured reservoir geometric *** sediment has small value of recovery factor.

At present, the major drawback for mobile phones is the issue of power consumption. As one of the alternatives to decrease the power consumption of standard, power-hungry location-based services usually require the knowledge of how individual phone features consume power. A typical phone feature is that the applications related to multimedia streaming utilize more power while receiving, processing, and displaying the multimedia contents, thus contributing to the increased power consumption. There is a growing concern that current battery modules have limited capability in fulfilling the long-term energy need for the progress on the mobile phone because of increasing power consumption during multimedia streaming processes. Considering this, in this paper, we provide an offline meaning sleep-mode method to compute the minimum power consumption comparing with the power-on solution to save power by implementing energy rate adaptation(RA) mechanism based on mobile excess energy level purpose to save battery power use. Our simulation results show that our RA method preserves efficient power while achieving better throughput compared with the mechanism without rate adaptation(WRA).

The use of natural killer(NK)cells is a promising and safe immunotherapeutic approach in the field of cancer ***,combination treatments are required to enhance the effector functions and therapeutic efficacy of NK *** this study,we investigated the potential of daratumumab(Dara),bortezomib,and dexamethasone(Dvd)to augment the antitumor effects of NK cells in a multiple myeloma(MM)xenograft mouse *** cells were expanded and activated using the K562-OX40 ligand and membrane-bound IL-18 and IL-21 in the presence of IL-2 and IL-15 from peripheral blood mononuclear cells from MM patients.A human MM xenograft model was established using human RPMI8226-RFP-FLuc cells in NOD/SCID IL-2Rγnull(NSG)***-bearing mice were divided into six treatment groups:no treatment,expanded NK cells(eNKs),Dara,Dara+eNKs,Dvd,and Dvd+*** treatment strongly enhanced the cytotoxicity of eNKs by upregulating expression of NK cell activation ligands,downregulating expression of NK cell inhibitory ligands,and promoting antibody-dependent cellular *** combination of eNKs with Dvd significantly prolonged mouse survival and reduced the tumor burden and serum M-protein ***,Dvd pretreatment significantly increased eNK persistence and homing to MM *** findings suggest that Dvd treatment potentiates the antimyeloma effects of NK cells expanded and activated ex vivo by modulating immune responses in MM-bearing mice.
