A hybrid storage technology for low power consumption and high I/O performance in an IPTV set-top box

A new method of prefetching data blocks from the NVCache to the page cache in main memory and cascading prefetching n-blocks from a hard disk to the NVCache together was proposed to reduce the spin-up frequency of a hybrid hard disk drive and thus enhance I/O *** proposed method consists of three steps:1) Analyzing the pattern of read requests in block units;2) Determining the number of blocks prefetched to the NVCache;3) Replacing blocks in the NVCache according to the block replacement *** proposed method can reduce the latency time of a hybrid hard disk and optimize the power consumption of an IPTV set-top *** results show that the proposed method provides better average response time compared to an existing adaptive multistream prefetching(AMP) method by 25.17%.It also reduces by 20.83% the average power consumption over that of the existing external caching in energy saving storage system(EXCES) method.

Degenerate versions of special polynomials and numbers applied to social problems,physics,and applied mathematics have been studied variously in recent ***,the(s-)Lah numbers have many other interesting applications in analysis and *** this paper,we divide two *** first introduce new types of both degenerate incomplete and complete s-Bell polynomials respectively and investigate some properties of them ***,we introduce the degenerate versions of complete and incomplete Lah-Bell polynomials as multivariate forms for a new type of degenerate s-extended Lah-Bell polynomials and numbers *** investigate relations between these polynomials and degenerate incomplete and complete s-Bell polynomials,and derive explicit formulas for these polynomials.

An 81-year-old man presented with epigastric pain and weight loss for one month. He had a past history of pulmonary tuberculosis, 10 years ago. We performed a gastroscopy, which showed a linear depressed whitish gastric ulcer scar (0.8 cm in length) in the posterior wall of the prepyloric antrum. The result of biopsy was reported as squamous epithelium. Immunohistochemical staining using an antibody to high molecular weight cytokeratin (HMC) revealed positive staining in the squamous epithelium. Two years later, the lesion was followed up. The lesion remained at same site endoscopically, but no squamous epithelium could be seen microscopically.

BACKGROUND Adjuvant chemotherapy(ACTx)is recommended in rectal cancer patients after preoperative chemoradiotherapy(PCRT),but its efficacy in patients in the early post-surgical stage who have a favorable prognosis is *** To evaluate the long-term survival benefit of ACTx in patients with ypT0–1 rectal cancer after PCRT and surgical *** We identified rectal cancer patients who underwent PCRT followed by surgical resection at the Asan Medical Center from 2005 to *** with ypT0–1 disease and those who received ACTx were *** 5-year overall survival(OS)and 5-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)were analyzed according to the status of the *** Of 520 included patients,413 received ACTx(ACTx group)and 107 did not(no ACTx group).No significant difference was observed in 5-year RFS(ACTx group,87.9%vs no ACTx group,91.4%,P=0.457)and 5-year OS(ACTx group,90.5%vs no ACTx group,86.2%,P=0.304)between the *** stage was associated with RFS and OS in multivariate analysis[hazard ratio(HR):2.57,95%confidence interval(CI):1.07–6.16,P=0.04 and HR:2.27,95%CI:1.09–4.74,P=0.03,respectively].Furthermore,ypN stage was associated with RFS and OS(HR:4.74,95%CI:2.39–9.42,P<0.00 and HR:4.33,95%CI:2.20–8.53,P<0.00,respectively),but only in the radical resection *** Oncological outcomes of patients with ypT0–1 rectal cancer who received ACTx after PCRT showed no improvement,regardless of the radicality of *** trials are needed to evaluate the efficacy of ACTx in these group of patients.

The effects of genetic and environmental factors on Pinus koraiensis growth were studied based on a35 year-old progeny trial composed of open-pollinated offspring of twenty-one plus ***,DBH and volume of the offspring was analyzed using restricted maximum likelihood/best linear unbiased prediction in mixed model *** site and family effects on the three traits were *** distinct growth of offspring by site with disparate climates corroborated the importance of planting species in suitable *** differences by family was significant,emphasizing the importance of identifying families with either superior or inferior *** parental ranking was assigned in the sites,inferring the breeding value of each plus *** estimates of individual heritability(h_(i)^(2))of height,DBH and volume growth were 0.169-0.645,0.108-0.331 and 0.129-0.343 respectively,with higher h_(i)^(2) of the height than DBH on each *** of variance of genetic effect was higher with DBH in some cases,indicating the scope for selection is larger for this trait despite the lower heritability compared to *** the variation between families in terms of the performance stability across sites,consideration of the genotype by environment interaction is required in selecting materials to be used in reforestation with Korean pine.A few families with either superior or inferior performance retained their parental ranking for at least a *** families with increased growth on a particular site were identified,indicating their high breeding value and low *** in the genetic performance of the families by site requires delineation of the breeding region of the species.

Meso-porous Si-coated carbon nanotube （CNT） composite powders were prepared by combining a sol-gel method and the magnesiothermic reduction process. Meso-porous Si-coated CNT electrodes exhibit excellent cycle and rate performances as anodes in Li-ion batteries （LIBs）, which can be attributed to the efficient accommodation of volume change from meso-porous Si structure and the enhanced electrical conductivity from CNT core. This simple synthesis and subsequent reduction process provide a scalable route for the large-scale production of Si-C composite nanostructures, which can be utilized in a variety of applications, such as in photocatalysis, photoelectrochemical cells （PECs）, and LIBs.

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries （AZIBs） have received considerable attention owing to their various advantages such as safety,low cost,simple battery assembly conditions,and high ionic ***,they still suffer from serious problems,including uncontrollable dendrite growth,corrosion,hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） from water decomposition,electrode passivation,and unexpected *** creation of a uniform artificial nanocrystal layer on the Zn anode surface is a promising strategy for resolving these ***,we propose the use of a perovskite CaTiO3（CTO） protective layer on Zn（CTO@Zn） as a promising approach for improving the performance of *** CTO artificial layer provides an efficient pathway for Zn ion diffusion towards the Zn metal because of the high dielectric constant （εr=180） and ferroelectric characteristics that enable the alignment of dipole moments and redistribute the Zn2+ions in the CTO *** avoiding the direct contact of the Zn anode with the electrolyte solution,the uneven dendrite growth,corrosion,parasitic side reactions,and HER are mitigated,while CTO retains its mechanical and chemical robustness during ***,CTO@Zn demonstrates an improved lifespan in a symmetric cell configuration compared with bare ***@Zn shows steady overpotential （～68 m V） for 1500 h at 1 mA cm-2/0.5 mA h cm-2,excelling bare ***,when paired with the V2O5-C cathode,the CTO@Zn//V2O5-C full battery delivers 148.4 mA h g-1（based on the mass of the cathode） after 300 *** study provides new insights into Zn metal anodes and the development of high-performance AZIBs.

Attribute of Big Data Analytics Quality Affecting Business Performance

With an accelerating increase of business benefits produced from big data analytics (if used appropriately and intelligently by businesses in the private and public sectors), this study focused on empirically identifying the big data analytics (BDA) attributes. These attributes were classified into four groups (i.e., value innovation, social impact, precision, and completeness of BDA quality) and were found to influence the decision-making performance and business performance outcomes. A structural equation modeling analysis using 382 responses from a BDA related to practitioners indicated that the attributes of representativeness, predictability, interpretability, and innovativeness as related to value innovation greatly enhanced the decision-making confidence and effectiveness of decision makers who make decisions using big data. In addition, individuality, collectivity, and willfulness, which are related to social impact, also greatly improved the decision-making confidence and effectiveness of the same decision makers. This shows that the value innovation and social impact, which have received relatively less attention in previous studies, are the crucial attributes for BDA quality as they influence the decision-making performance. Comprehensiveness, factuality, and realism, which are linked to completeness, also have similar results. Furthermore, the higher the decision-making confidence of the decision makers who used big data was, the higher the financial performance of their companies. In addition, high decision-making confidence using big data was found to improve the nonfinancial performance metrics such as customer satisfaction and quality levels as well as product development capabilities. High decision-making effectiveness with big data was also shown to improve the nonfinancial performance metrics.
